This used to be my favorite place to cry at night, until they put up notices against trespassing after sunset. Now it's my favorite place to cry during the day, but it just isn't the same.
I used to hear the serene chirping of crickets near the playground. Now I hear the raucous laughter of children who are actually enjoying their lives. I used to sit on a bench in the dog park and wonder if life was worth living. Now I avoid it because I don't want to bother the dog owners. I even used to sit under the first-come-first-serve pavilion and write poetry, but there are people that sit there now and that makes me feel awkward.
It's not all bad though. It's very clear that the people who care for this park are invested in its upkeep. I see them picking up trash like me every week, and the bathrooms there are usually clean and well-stocked. The all-in-one-gym is wiped down every now and then, which is surprising. You wouldn't expect an outdoor gym to get more attention than I get from my parents, but here we are. They even have a tennis court, volleyball court, basketball court, and baseball diamond, which are the perfect places to watch other people be happy. Finally, the walking path is very well paved and has plenty of benches for when my back hurts from carrying around my depression.
This is a good park. You should check it out if you want to go for a walk, bring your dog out of the house, or take your child somewhere they can play. Just don't go there to cry. That's my thing. read more
