We used Wedding Story for flowers, hair, makeup, dress alterations, planning, and other services. We originally wanted to do all the planning and simply use a day-of coordinator (hired through another company before we met Jackie) to handle logistics on the day. We got a referral for Jackie to do hair and makeup. I went in for a trial, and we discovered WS offers lots of wedding services. We loved the flowers they did for other weddings so we hired WS for flowers too. Jackie went above and beyond what we'd hired her to do, such as helping us with our hotel room block even though we hadn't yet hired her for planning. Although we already hired our day-of coordinator elsewhere, Jackie gave us a planning package to ensure we got our money's worth. She helped communicate with other vendors, and she worked with the day-of coordinator so there wasn't conflict. She responded to every email and phone call quickly, and she showed up on time to every meeting. On the wedding day, I felt assured that everything would still go smoothly even if some things went wrong behind the scenes--which they did! The weather threatened rain during the ceremony, which we'd hoped to have outdoors. Upon Jackie's advice, we moved the ceremony indoors--and it was still beautiful because of her floral arrangements and the flower arch that she brought last minute, free of charge. Bridesmaids, mothers of bride and groom, and a few others did hair and makeup. One bridesmaid wishes she could've brought her own foundation to use, because she thought her makeup was too light for her skin, but she still loved how she looked. Bridesmaids complimented the makeup artist for being super gentle. Bridesmaids all loved their hair. Everyone got a different style that suited them. One bridesmaid has curly hair and did not want a flat iron anywhere near it. As promised, Jackie didn't use a flat iron, and she checked whether supplies and tools were OK to use. I loved my bridal hair and makeup. My eyes water easily, but the makeup artist mitigated that. I didn't need any makeup touch ups during the day, other than lipstick here and there. I usually don't wear makeup but I still felt like myself, just more glamorous. I loved how my hair turned out, and I don't think I needed hair touch ups either. WS did alterations for my dress (purchased elsewhere), and it fit me perfectly on the day. They made it so I could wear my veil like a cape after the ceremony. Because the wedding moved indoors, I had to walk on carpet. We soon realized that the lace hem of my dress HATES carpet. Within minutes, Jackie's team did alterations so my dress wouldn't snag on the carpet. Everyone was impressed with how quickly the alterations were done. WS also provided a petticoat, and it helped my dress look amazing when I twirled during the first dance. For the flowers, I originally wanted blue to match our wedding colors. Jackie advised that based on flower availability, it would be better to do mostly white flowers with blush and blue accents. We trusted her expert vision, so we deferred to her--and we are glad we did! All the flowers were spectacular. So many guests complimented them, and a lot wanted to take flowers home. I am working on preserving my bouquet so I can keep it forever. Some things did go wrong. There was rain, miscommunication, and overly enthusiastic guests being where they weren't supposed to be. Jackie helped mitigate the issues as best as she could. When I felt overwhelmed by guests coming down to the getting ready area, she politely ushered them away. With Jackie, I knew that if I had a problem, I could hand it to her to resolve with minimal stress on my part. After the wedding, there was a significant issue with the honeymoon suite that Jackie helped us book. When I informed Jackie of the issue, she immediately contacted the hotel and ensured that we were compensated for our troubles. We greatly enjoyed our experience with WS. If anyone asks us for wedding advice, one of our first tips will be to contact Jackie. read more

I only have the highest praises for Jackie and her team. I had my wedding at 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church and found Jackie on the list of preferred wedding planners/coordinators. I picked Jackie as my planner and day-of coordinator, and that was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding. Jackie has so much experience and so many connections. She helped me find many of my vendors. She helped turn my wedding visions into reality, while giving great advice and keeping us on schedule. I'm amazed at how little stress I had in the month leading up to the wedding because she had helped me solidify so many details. I wish I had found Ms. Jackie first thing before signing anything, because her experience and knowledge around contracts would have likely saved me more money with our venue and vendors from the start, but she was still able to push them for things even after I had already signed a couple contracts which I really appreciated! Jackie and her team are very experienced wedding planners and listened to every detail in what I wanted for my dream wedding. Jackie lives and breathes weddings. She knows her stuff when it comes to planning large events and would definitely tell you what things you can cut back on (less expensive invitations) and what things you should not cut (number of hors d'oeuvres trays). She's responsive by email and especially texts and doesn't mind meeting you late in the evening if you want to see her in person. While, at times, because she has so many weddings going on, we felt like our planning was sent to the back burner, she still made sure everything would get done. She was very detailed oriented and provided a very useful minute by minute schedule for the big day. While planning a wedding is still very stressful, Jackie made it more manageable by doing a lot of the legwork. Renting a bridal dress & Tuxedo experience: Problem of this place: 1) They do not ask you what kind of dress/tuxedo style you want. 2) For the bridal dresses: they only bring out 3 dresses to try them on and expect you to make a decision. There are a lot more dresses in the back room but they won't let you try them on. For the tuxedo: they'll put you in ONE tuxedo that they have and expect you to decide. 3) You cannot take a picture unless you sign the contract and pay 50% of deposit which is not refundable. 4) You have to read the contract very carefully and make sure to put in writing whatever item they said was inclusive. The owner, Jackie just gave me the contract and told me to sign and pay the 50% deposit WITHOUT explaining the content of the contract. Jackie did not let me know the break down cost per item; you don't have any idea, how much it cost to rent a tuxedo or a dress and what is included or not. It was very vague what we agreed on. make sure you're on the same page about every little details. Bottom line: Limited options available in both dresses & tux - the sales person will push you to decide on 3 dresses that you've tried on. They are not expert on bridal gowns and they don't give you honest opinion if the dress looks bad on you. This is not a place for you if you have specific needs and non-traditional wedding gowns or tuxedo. read more

I got a full wedding and reception planning service from Wedding Story (March 2014) so I know whatever listed here before my review is not accurately representing what Jackie (master wedding planner of Wedding Story) is capable of... She speaks Korean and English fluently and she deals with so many couples with different ethnic backgrounds. She is very talented and knows how to make every bride's wedding very beautiful. I got a wedding package that fits my budget. Especially, I am very happy with flowers, photographers, decorations and DJs that Jackie chose for me. I decided to rent one wedding dress and one reception dress there and oh my goodness they are much much better than other dreamy wedding dresses from some reality TV shows. Wedding Story's dresses are stunning and wedding specialists who work there take good care of them. The only thing I didn't like very much was that my wedding video wasn't very good. The videographer made a couple of mistakes and my video came in 4 months after my wedding. When I finally got mine back, it kind of looked like he didn't spend enough time to edit my video. I hope Wedding Story gets a better videographer. But my video is less important than other things (wedding photos) so I'm not too upset about this. If there is anything you don't like while you are planning your wedding with Jackie, you just need to talk to her. She is willing to listen and she will fix it for you. Yes brides are busy and so is she.. she deals with lots of brides every week. I waited 2 years to plan my own wedding and I gave up eventually as I had no idea what to do with my wedding. I'm glad that I chose Wedding Story. Jackie really does know how to execute a beautiful wedding. In the end, my wedding went pretty well so I'm happy. Guests were super satisfied and and complimented how elegant and beautiful my wedding was. In my opinion, Jackie is the best wedding planner (5 stars) in DMV area for Asian-influenced weddings. My friend recommended Wedding Story to me because they had done her hair and makeup a few years ago and she said they were really good. "Really good" is an understatement! THEY'RE FREAKISHLY AMAZING AT WHAT THEY DO! During the hair and makeup trial, all the staff were extremely friendly and makes you feel like you are the only person in the world getting married! And I looked freakin amazing! They really put a lot of emphasis on details and think about how the flow of the wedding can effect the hair and makeup on the day of and we talked a lot back and forth in person, over emails about various details. The attention to details really REALLY made a difference and I was so comfortable on the day of the wedding. My makeup stayed in place, my hair stayed in place, I cried and my makeup still stayed in place... it was just a fairytale! I also did my flowers through them. I gave my budget for my flower and we got what I wanted, and we stayed VERY close to my budget! On the day of the flowers looked so beautiful and the staff came in, put everything together very smoothly. Our conversations about the flowers also made the day of extremely smooth. They taught one of our groomsmen how to take the flowers from the arch and inside to use for other things. The photographer, James Kang, worked tirelessly to make sure we had a good product for our engagement photos and wedding photos!! This was a big wedding with 350+ guests expected. We were looking for experienced vendor that knows in and out of big weddings and is able to handle my stress. More than my high expectations, the Wedding Story was able to pull it off with superb perfection. First of all, the Wedding Story was FLEXIBLE. I thought I was an easy-going girl but closer to the wedding date I could hardly keep my words about almost everything I said. I called to reschedule appointments, complained here and there about my personal life, even asked last minute to change my rehearsal dinner dress. Yet no complaints or extra charges for those hours of me on the phone. Thanks to Jackie and her staffs, I survived and I am happily married. Second, the Wedding Story knows it all. As you can see above, I had my flowers & decoration by other vendors who had personal relationships with either me or my mom. Well, things happen at the last minute and I had to look for another vendor to do my flowers at affordable price. Of course, I was stressed and called Jackie for help. She was able to give me a list of affordable florists who are in the area and I had beautiful flowers for my wedding! I've asked millions of questions and they answered it ALL. Third, the Wedding Story has beautiful dress and jewelry selections for different body types. I have a long torso so I was concerned about picking out the dress. Well, I have to say it took us about 2 hours trying on different dresses but found the one that I got complimented by every guest on my wedding day. It was one of a kind and all loved it! Their staff is very knowledgeable about Korean customs, being Korean themselves, and how to manage a large reception party. I did not have to worry about the reception at all because they did all the work, including coordinating with vendors when they arrive, setting up everything, and gathering all of our wedding decorations so my family and I can bring it home. Anytime I asked something from the team, they would immediately act on it. Jackie made sure we stayed within our timeline by letting us know when and where we had to be. She even gathered the wedding party and family members and made sure they lined up in the correct order a head of time so we can start the reception on time. I cannot stress enough how crucial Jackie was to our wedding. I had planned on not having a wedding planner, since I had oversimplified the whole process and doubted how hard it really could be. I am so glad I didn't go down this route and went with Wedding Story instead. I wanted the least stress possible in wedding planning, and Jackie picked everything up for me. She was the point of contact for all my vendors, of which she has a large network, and organized everything from beginning to end. She was very responsive, understood what I wanted, made great suggestions, and executed everything very efficiently and very well. She knows how a wedding works and smooths out all the kinks before and also during the event. She goes out of her way to do extra. On the day of the wedding, Jackie did hair, organized the makeup, vendors, setup, and seemed to be everywhere with everyone (and I'm sure she did a lot more behind the scenes that I don't even know about). When I discovered that I hadn't gotten the ribbon for my reception dress back from my dry cleaner's, Jackie took off the ribbon from my bouquet, ironed it out, and made an impromptu (but lovely) ribbon for my gown. She works quickly, has a lot of energy, and has good taste. Her staff is also super helpful and friendly. Additionally, if you choose to do a Korean traditional ceremony (paebak), Jackie and her staff will do very well. Really and truly a lifesaver. A few points - I LOVED the florist Jackie recommended (Christine Chung): she does beautiful bouquets, boutonnieres, and everything else (including floral archway for my outdoor ceremony). Artistic and not at all tacky. Second, I didn't find a wedding dress with Jackie, but all the men got classy tuxes from her that fit them great. Third - the harpist Jackie recommended (Kate Rogers?) is also amazing. Whether you're hands-off with set tastes like me or hands-on and involved, Jackie will save your life. My experience with WS was excellent. (1) Dresses: they had various high end styled dresses to choose from. Ask for their package deals! I was able to rent 3 beautiful dresses for engagement/ceremony/reception and I was able to try on as many dresses I wanted before making my final choices. They were very patient with me. (2) Photo/Video: We enjoyed all our photo sessions with our photographer, Mr. Lee. He will make sure he gets enough pictures by staying over time. Make sure you dont rush him and give him enough time especially on your wedding day. Video is a MUST! We got our videos turned around real fast, and it captured all the main moments of our wedding day. Highly recommend it. Again, ask for their package deal. (3) DJ/MC: Eddie and his team was just awesome! Best investment we made out of all~ Our guests enjoyed 4 full hours of our reception thanks to these guys.
