Man, this place is such a dump! Any review that starts like this won't get 5 stars...unless the…read moreplace really is the dump. Davis County has it figured out and has really streamlined the process. They recycle all of their green waste into wood chips and mulch, which you can buy in bulk for cheap. Their facilities are powered by wind and solar, so they're really trying to reduce their carbon footprint. They even have a little "store" that you can go in, as the workers set aside any "garbage" headed to the dump that might still be useable. You know, "one man's trash is another man's treasure." As long as you present your ID showing that you live in Davis County, the typical dump run will cost you $5. They have different areas to dump green waste and metal in order to keep the steady flow of traffic

All that has changed, and this might be the best landfill experience you've ever had! Garbage is dumped on a clean cement dock and shoved by large front loaders into waiting transport that moves it to special areas where the methane gas from decomposing garbage is harvested to power Hill Air Force base. Green waste is taken to its own special area and turned into excellent garden product: compost and several grades of wood chips for mulching. Non-Davis county residents pay a bit more to dump, but the compost and wood chips can be purchased at the same low price by anyone.
