Way too much mold for $20 a box.
    Michael D.

This week, I was driving through Pennsylvania on my way home after doing business outside Philly. I knew I had a few days this week to get chores done and I wanted to get through my tomatoes. I called and the folks were very kind, said they had two boxes of romas, $20 a piece that I could pick up now. A little steep for a half bushel of tomatoes but I was like, "I'm here, let's do this". I get there, I take a walk through the market and get some apples, get to the register and let them know I was here to get two boxes of Roma's and quoted the price. They called back and asked me to pay - now I knew I should have looked at the boxes first but, I'm a trusting guy. I paid, got my boxes, put them into the car and turned the AC on, knowing it was a hot day. When I got home, I put them in my cellar where it'd be cool enough until I could get through the boxes. Today, I open the boxes and both have what is clearly a weeks worth of mold along the bottom of the box. I get it, seconds are sometimes a little gross, you cut off the mushy or discolored bit and move on. But not for $20 a box. Seeing actual fully developed mold colonies was disgusting - I was able to use about 90% of the tomatoes in each box, and sure I had to cut of small bits of mold, but as long as the tomato passed the smell test and didn't smell rotten or fermented, I knew it'd be fine. But actual mold? What possible use could I have for this that would be worth paying this much for. I won't come back here for seconds or produce - to me, if you've been in business for nearly 100 years and youre selling actual trash, you can't be trusted with my money.

Highly recommend this orchard as a good socially distanced activity with no reservations needed in advance. Came with my boyfriend on a Saturday morning (I recommend coming early / around 9am or so, because it gets more crowded as you get to 10 or 11am - definitely check their hours in advance), and had such a lovely time. Great place to bring kids too - saw a good number of families around. Atmosphere: Everybody is expected to wear a mask while you're apple picking, and when you're at the farmer's market. There were clear signs marked for where the apples were best for picking (some sections had already been picked completely when we went). They also had vats out of apples that were done picking for the season, but that you could add to your bag. Pricing is available on their website, but you pre-pay for a size (we chose the 10-lb bag for $20), and then go on your way! Food/Apples: We picked a ton of evercrisp and found them very fresh - slightly tart, but also very sweet. They also allow you to try 2 apple samples before you go out to pick them yourselves. I loved their farmer's market - especially getting their own peanut butter (I was intrigued by the espresso peanut butter, so I grabbed a container of that)! Everything we tried from their market (pear cider, chocolate milk) was delicious. Overall: 5/5 - Highly recommend (and if you go earlier, there are generally less people). Such a nice fall activity, and one of my boyfriend's favorite trips over the past year.

Loved going here today as a spontaneous adventure with my siblings. The staff was so friendly and helped direct us to where we could pick the fruit. I would definitely bring your own containers but if not they are only .25 cents. Pricing was not horrible only $10 for blackberries, 4 peaches, and 2 pears. It was such a fun time to pick fresh fruit! They have so many apples to choose from as well and some blueberries left. Can't wait to go back in the fall for more fruit picking!

What a great find in Morgantown, PA! I've never gone cherry picking before, and I've been hankering for them. After all, cherries are one of the quintessential fruits for the summer! I brought plastic bags with me for the cherries, but you are able to purchase a bucket or a carton there for a low fee. There is a market, a small ice cream stand, and two sides for picking fruit in-season. On the day that we went, one side was reserved for picking blueberries and raspberries, and the other side of the Orchard, located across the street, had rows of cherry trees that were protected under a cover. Since we went in the afternoon, a lot of the cherries were picked, but we managed to leave with an ample amount of sweet dark cherries and Rainier cherries. The only kicker was that we received a ton of rain in the last couple of weeks, so a lot of the cherries were split. That is unfortunate, because the cherries were plump, juicy, and delicious. In terms of pricing, yes, the cherry prices were higher than what you would find at a supermarket, but the Rainier cherries were surprisingly the same price as the dark cherries. After we filled our bags, we bought some ice cream and stood by the neighboring pond, taking in the view. I would love to come back here in the Fall when apple picking season begins!

I was really excited to come here and pick apples with my boyfriend and get some fall food. I usually go to Linvilla since I live in Philly, but I was staying in Reading this weekend so it seemed like the next best option. The first thing I have to say is that the apple selection is terrible. Yes, there are many many apple trees but there are FEW apples left to pick that are decent and I think this is because they pick them to sell in the market. I was really disappointed about this, we went up and down every row of trees and we were hardly able to fill our bag. There are also 3 types of apples (incl. MacIntosh) that are in a separate area apart from the other trees that you will have to drive to along with the peaches, pears, and blackberries. We did drive over to the other section to get MacIntosh apples, but there were hardly any there to pick. We were also excited to pick peaches and the girl at the stand said there was one row left (...) we went down the row and were able to get one peach. I'm not sure if we came at a bad time of the season or what but I was really disappointed. Also if you plan to pick your own fruit BRING BUG SPRAY. There were bugs in my face literally the entire time. I'm only giving this place a slightly positive review because of the market. There is a cool selection of different homemade and local food. I got an apple cider slushie, the apple cider donuts, fudge, corn chowder soup, and apple cider. All of it was so good!! I would definitely come back for the market but I probably wouldn't pick my own fruit here again.

We went for Fourth of July and although it was really hot and humid we had a great time. We got tons of cherries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries...all tasted great and prices are pretty reasonable, would've been nice if they were a little less considering how many berries were there. The orchard area is huge so all the little kids that are there won't get in your way! Also, the little store is really cute and has tons of homemade stuff, loved the fruit sour straws! PS. Bring your own bucket or carrying container!

I came here with my friend to go strawberry picking. They also had raspberry and cherry picking. There weren't many raspberries ready so we decided to skip them. The cherries and strawberries are the best we have ever had. So juicy and sweet! The staff here were all enthusiastic and friendly. There is also a farmers market with fruits, veggies, deli, drinks, pasta, meat, and dozens of other specialty items. Definitely a cool spot to check out and pick your own fruit when it's in season!

Every fall my husband and I come here! We absolutely love everything about it and so do our small children. There are a lot of things to see and do as well. You'll find that there is a lot of parking across from the entrance. It's reasonably priced. I believe it was $9 for my husband and I. Our 3 year old wasn't much and our 10 month old was free. It was a couple of extra bucks for the hayride. They have a hayride that takes you around the orchard and has a drop off spot for pumpkins and apples. It'll come back around and pick you up. Hey have a large variety of produce you can pick from on your own. They have a huge play area for the kids. It includes a bounce house, 2 big slides, a ride in a car while the tractor pulls you and a straw playground. They have alpacas and goats in which you can feed. There's a stage where different activities take place (juggling, singing). They have a food stand with different beverages and simple food. Everything is reasonably priced. They have a few picnic tables spread around the area to sit and enjoy your meal. They have a section by the market where you can pick different sized pumpkins and gourds. They were around 69 cents a pound. It's nice to pick them here because then you don't have to lug them around everywhere. The market is the best! They have all kinds of fresh produce. They have homemade jams, jellies, cookies, and other little foods. They have a small deli counter where you can pick some great things. The best part is the cider! It's absolutely delicious and every year we grab a gallon to take home! The staff is super friendly and a joy to be around. I highly recommend this place for a family activity. It's best to visit in the fall!
