The setting was nice and the decor and quaintness of it was particularly enjoyed by my girlfriend, (why do girls love that sort of thing so much) the tea for 2 was served in a large tea pot which was easily enough for 3 containing about 6 cups worth. The scones cream and jam were lovely and were washed down with the tea was just what I needed after a long walk around the town. We'll worth a stop by if you're in the area.

It's humongous so unless you haven't eaten for days you should go with the small portion, which on its own was too much for me to eat. I do recall staggering into them after a night on the shandy, hoping for something to cure a hangover. A pot of their fresh made tea and a mountain of hot buttered toast usually did the trick. These little tea-rooms are clean, bright, superbly run and serve everything to set off a perfect summer's afternoon. Teas, scones (delicious) hot buttered toast (vital) and home-made cakes, along with filled rolls, all make for a perfect snack to enjoy whilst looking out over the bay. When the sun is shining on the waters of the River Dart t's just so beautiful. If you enjoy the castle, then take time out for tea & scones at the tea-rooms to complete the experience.

I opted for plain as I wanted the traditional version with jam and clotted cream. The scone was HUGE. I enjoyed the little sandwiches. The high tea is plentiful and I took all the little desserts away with me, as it was too much food . The cafe/ restaurant is on an old converted stable located at Hestercombe House n Gardens. You can access this place without having to pay to go inside the stately home as the entrance is accessible.
