I had a canvasser cold call at my door. I don't usually give these people the time of day. I set up an appointment and welcomed the salesperson into my house. After going through the demo it was obvious these are quality built. My house was built in 1964 and had all original wooden frame Anderson windows. The novelty of scraping and painting through the years was long over. The gas seals were broken on all of them and they frosted with delight every winter. I have 2 awning bedroom, 2 sliding bedroom, 2 casement bathroom, 1 sliding at kitchen sink, 1 picture window with sliding window on either end at rear of house, 1 sliding glass door, 2 steel entry doors and 1 five panel bow window, 2 of which are casement, ALL constructed and installed by WeatherGard.
To say my house is the posterchild for WeatherGard is an understatement.
The price tag was bodacious to say the least. My house NEEDED new windows, my horse blinders no longer worked. Then, he throws the 5-years no interest at me.
I am entering my third year of interest free payments of $241.00/month. (hmm..wonder what your car payment is?)
When I signed up I had no idea who might be showing up in five months to install my windows. A couple weeks after the sale, a fine gentleman in a big pick-up truck showed up to take the "true" measurements of the openings. Told me if it was gonna be screwed up, it was on him and he had no one to blame but himself. He also assured me that he ain't been wrong too many times! He measured, sped away, and I didn't see him again for five months. When he showed up pulling a trailer full of doors and windows in that same big truck, I knew everything was going to fit like a glove, and naturally it did. The contractors who showed up informed me that they were not "WeatherGard" employees, but contracted "specifically" to install WeatherGard windows and doors. These fine gentleman went straight to work. As they completed one hole in the wall, and added the window, they completely cleaned the area and moved to the next. with professionalism, proficiency, expediency, and just DAMN expert knowhow, these guys knocked it out of the park! Windows, entry doors, sliding glass doors, EVERYTHING! Obviously, not these gentleman's first rodeo!
The crew leader who drove the big truck, pretty much spent all day rebuilding my bow window and his work was phenomenal! He was able to save my five panel wooden frame and retro-fit the new panes in it. My bow window faces the southern Michigan snow and hot summer sun and the difference these windows make is palpable. After the work was completed, you could not tell from inside or out, that the bow window replacement was not original to the house, (as well as all the others). With my woodburning stove in the living room, I am more careful not to heat myself out of the house!
Every single window and door is custom made to my specs, and the fit and finish could not be more beautiful! Not a sticky door or window in the house and they all open and close with ease.
I'm not really sure where the negative reviews come from because nothing but positive is my take, and believe you me, I nervously, shakingly, spent a lot of money. Maybe these folks are expecting the proverbial professional grade product at back door prices. There are plenty of businesses out there that will promise that to you. You get what you pay for. WeatherGard is not that business. They were straight up with me about everything. Many might complain that they don't "itemize" the windows. Knowing what I know now, it makes more sense. It really doesn't matter that I know "exactly" what each and every component costs. Only that I am getting great value and quality compared to the other big 2 competitors. When the competitors tell you how much each individual window costs, does that give you a warm fuzzy feeling? Okay then what's your point? What's the TOTAL cost? Compare that.
Get your estimates from the other two big players and you will find that WeatherGard is still a better value, check for yourself.
Not only that, but I have referred others to WeatherGard, and I have actually received referral checks from WeatherGard!
Knowing what I know now? Do your homework and you will find that WeatherGard will not disappoint.
Come on over and slam some doors and windows, see for yourself! read more
