First of all, the overall YELP reviews are mostly negative because they are OLD reviews or people take it personally when their items are not accepted for consignment!!! Brittany does a great job of managing this store now, consigning ONLY items she knows will resell, and putting fair prices on them. I LOVE that you can see when the items are being reduced and then you can go back on that day, if you want to save even more money!!. Since I have retired, I buy EVERYTHING here, for me, my grandkids and even my mother. More savings on Friday when you pay cash to save an ADDITIONAL 20% and join the loyal customer club and automatically get 10% off and card punches to redeem for gift cards at the store. It is clean, well-organized, and tops are even arranged by color and design, in addition to sizes, saving a client LOTS of time. Brittany and her adult staff are always personable and helpful - even giving me advice on items I am considering buying. I especially appreciate her honesty when something is not "for me". I have been consigning on and off, mostly off for the last decade and I think I am done for good. I am not sure why when I make an appointment to consign, I can never get in until a month or so from when I call. I called today, November 24, and can't get in until December 23rd! Not sure why, since it shouldn't take that long to decide what to take. I have taken clothes and shoes to consign that were name brands and in great condition, only to come back and pick them up. My clothes look no different than the ones that they are selling. I keep giving them chances, but I am now done for good. read more

It is just not worth all the work you need to do. It's too much for an elderly woman to carry all the clothes in, pick some back up, try to find your items that did not sale. It would have been really nice if one of the young ladies had offered to help. Even a little bit. read more

I'm so unbelievably done with this store...I took in 15 items and they took 5.....just 5 and they are in excellent condition, in style stuff......name brands....tonight I was told they couldn't take my shoes because there was a scuff......1 scuff on the heel...they are rock and Republic expensive shoes from kohls. Other pair are Worthington from jc Penney that were worn once.. then they had an attitude as to why I asked why they wouldn't take myself. I used to work in the Lemoyne area and stopped by Wears Like New on the way home, thinking I didn't even take notice prior that it was there! I was delighted with their selection and while I found a few pieces to be a little overpriced for a second hand store, I also found some GREAT deals on items that had been there for a few weeks (lowering their price point). I have a bunch of clothes I'm going to take over to try my hand at consigning - we'll see how I feel as a consignor as well as a patron! read more

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT BRING HIGH END ITEMS TO THIS STORE!!!!! If you are going to use their service, bring only cheap, worn many times items. I took $618.00 worth of mens' jackets to this store; one was a leather Milwaukee Maverick Motorcycle jacket that had only been worn twice, one was a BRAND NEW WITH TAG brown leather Burks Bay bomber jacket, and one was a BRAND NEW Carhartt brown Barn Jacket. Because I knew the value of these items was over $600, I asked that they be discounted by 50% each as the selling price. That meant that they should have been sold, in total for about $300 (at least $100 each). The store manager, against my wishes, discounted the jackets 75%!! Brand new jackets (two of them) and two of them LEATHER in EXCELLENT CONDITION! Needless to say, they literally gave them away! For over $600 worth of items we only collected $62.00 about 10% of their actual value. I was going to bring my daughter's competition figure skating dresses over there for sale because there are MANY skaters in this area and there is a market for them. But I changed my mind fast. These people are so dim that they would sell a $400 Sharene designer dress for $10. THEY WILL LITERALLY GIVE YOUR CLOTHES AWAY BECAUSE THEY DO NOT KNOW THE VALUE OF ANYTHING AT ALL. I really want to like this store, but I just can't. I have consigned here a few times over the years. I called today to make an appointment for 10 days from now. They had no availability. The soonest I could get in was Nov 7th!!, which most likely not going to work. I have here consigned before, so it is basically just dropping items off. Not sure why I cannot get in sooner. Also, the last time I was there, I took in 3 very nice work dresses and jeans and they only took the jeans. I look around the store and my clothes look the same or better than what they are selling. I'll give this place 3 stars from a shopper's perspective but only 2 stars for consignment. Went in today and found that the money in my account had expired because I had not been in to the store since March to use it (it's now August)! While this was infuriating, I won't slam the store because I usually can find good bargains on items that have not moved quickly (and therefore have been marked down): Just purchased a brilliant red wool coat for $40, some blouses $2-$12 and jeans for around $5. Can't beat this place for price (unless you go down the street to Salvation Army, but that adds another element altogether, as it's usually a zoo and the merchandise is nowhere near as clean!). read more

The selection is nice, the prices are fair, but OMG the staff! I've been in here a few times (once to consign) and each time the staff has been unfriendly to downright rude. They act like they're doing you a favor taking your money. There are so many consignment shops in Central Pa. Skip this one. read more

My mom's coworker's daughter works here, so yes, I do get a pretty good deal most times I come here. It's a worthwhile trip over but you have to thoroughly search the racks to find good items. Make sure to look at the tags because depending on the date, the item could be varying prices. read more

Nice clothes, pretty good selection but way too overpriced. Shirts at $25?! Please...If I wanted to pay that I would just head over to Kohl's for brand new stuff. Manager was very friendly and helpful but once I found out they charge a 60% commission on the sale price of the clothes from the owner I bolted. Absolutely ludicrous, someone needs to inform them that MOST consignment shops only charge 35%-40%. I've heard of 50% but 60% is just plain greedy. read more

I stopped in while out shopping around for consignment wedding gowns. (Looking for something vintage or out of the ordinary and it's been very difficult in this area!) That aside, I walked in, and the whole way around the store without the two young ladies at the counter saying even ONE WORD to me. I have been in retail management for over 15 years and certainly ANY retail setting you're expected to at LEAST say hello to folks who come in if not even ask them if they need help. They didn't have what I was looking for which is fine, but since they can't even be bothered to greet folks who come in, I won't be going there for anything else, either! read more

I have been a shopper at Wears Like New for a long time. Their children's department is wonderful and I always find clothes for my grandchildren including swim suits and under armour at a great price. I love the wall of shoes and the purse display. As a shopper, I have found this store to be great. I am very petite and have found that going into thrift stores is like looking for a needle in a haystack for clothing that fits me. I think the prices are great--you have to be aware of the brand of the item that is for sale. I will pay 10 dollars for a Banana Republic shirt considering that it could have retailed for 50. Also, the longer an item sits in the store, the price lowers. I always find clothing that fits me by great brands that I could usually not afford. Their rewards program is great--much better than Plato's Closet, however, I wish it was available in other forms (like a punch or stamp card) rather than only on your smartphone. read more
