I mean, come on... who needs a freaking piece of paper to prove they have credentials? The Free School isn't set at any particular space. There are a few communal spaces and parks that are frequently used as class spaces, though. Currently there are free classes on Spanish, Capoiera, baking, yoga, radical urban gardening, etc. A schedule is created by the core group of people who keep it organized for a Spring session, summer session, etc. You can find the schedule at www.freeschooldenver.org. They have a myspace, too (myspace.com/freeschooldenver). If you have anything that you're especially good at and want to share with others, you should contact them and set up a class. Or show up at any of the addresses on the list and partake in the classes already going on. No monetary obligation. All you need to bring is your open mind! Support free school!

I called ahead to the Veterans Center, and the gentleman I spoke with informed me that they do not offer tours. I found this ironic because the community college I currently attend, as well as several other universities I plan to apply to, have all had veterans centers that were significantly more helpful than CU's. UCLA, for instance, arranged a full campus tour led by a fellow veteran student. After the tour, I had a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the head of the UCLA Veterans Success Center. In contrast, CU's Veterans Center simply told me, "We don't do tours. You can go online and look at our checklist for more information." Based on this experience, I am unlikely to apply to CU. First impressions are everything, and I do not want to be part of an environment that lacks meaningful support for veterans. CU has a lot of room for improvement.

Here are two examples: I had a professor that had given me a D in class at the end of the semester but my actual Grade was a B. I found out my grade after the semester was over so I contacted her so many times. In the end, it took me until the start of the next semester to resolve issue. There is no way around it unless you are in an immersion situation and living with the language daily. However the private lessons were a complete waste of time and money. The first 45 minutes were always spent about her complaining about politics or talking personal with the other student in English. Then she would have us do exercises out of our book and say take 10 minutes and do this exercise. 15 minutes later long after we were done she would get up and say she had to go to the bathroom. We spent all 3 months learning reflective verb tense and her saying over and over how important it was. I have traveled to Spanish speaking countries many times since wasting my money with Nina and never once used that verb tense. This was the biggest wast of time and money ever and I'd advise finding someone else to take lessons from. I have and I've learned so much more in less time and money.
