I wanted to share my incredible experience with Walter Brown and his team. I have to go back a few years to share the entire journey. 4 1/2 years ago, my wife and I sold our house in Walnut Creek to build a new larger house in the Alhambra Valley in Martinez. We wanted a larger house to accommodate our entire family and friends during holidays, etc. because none of our family members had a large enough house to do so. During this time, we experienced several setbacks with our dream home. First, we had several permit issues, then the pandemic delayed us as well. The home that was supposed to be completed in 2 years was now going to be a much longer project. We finally started building in April of 2022 about 3 years after the original estimated start date. Because of these delays we experienced several unexpected issues. First there were building permit delays due to the pandemic. Then there were material price increases and shortages because of the pandemic as well. Then there was one of the wettest winters we've had in years causing more delays and finally the interest rates doubled over the last year. With all that said, the house was finally completed in April of 2023 and time to move in. But, because of the increased cost and the interest rates doubling, my wife and I were no longer in a solid financial spot to obtain the loan that was almost a slam dunk one year earlier. No longer did I have the support of the mortgage broker I was working with because of these issues, and I found myself with no prospective loan opportunities. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Walter Brown by a mutual friend, and it turned out to be one of the best things that happened to me and my wife. After 4 1/2 years of patiently waiting, I was extremely concerned that we wouldn't be able to obtain our loan and that's where Walter Brown stepped in. My husband and I were at our wits' end about our adjustable mortgage, which had gone into the stratosphere just as the economy tanked. There was no way to refinance since our house was worth less than the balance on our mortgage, and we had very high living expenses apart from our mortgage due to health issues, education costs, etc. We were the victims of an outfit that solicited us, and took $1,500.00 of our money with unrealistic promises, without ever attempting to reach our lender until after we told them to take a hike.
