I was referred to Sarah of Simply Organized Sarah after discussing with a friend how overwhelmed I was with a lot of excess furniture. I was recently married and combining multiple households in a new home. It turned out that many pieces of furniture did not fit into our new home. I met with Sarah for about an hour to show her the items that I needed to go away. She then measured, staged, photographed and listed the items with minimal direction. She researched the best places to list the pieces, the descriptions of them, and competitive prices. Sarah handled nearly all of the logistics regarding the coordination of viewing, payments, and removal of the items. Our involvement was minimal--just notifying us of visits or arranging quick and easy pick-ups. With busy work schedules, we couldn't be more involved so it was ideal. At the end of the project, Sarah sold 18 of the 21 items we wanted to let go of (with 2 still pending). She cleared out space in our new home and our minds. While this wasn't the traditional organizing project, it reached the same ultimate goal by eliminating clutter and creating space. I called SOS about a very personal and specific project: I had inherited my father's stamp collection that I was ready to pass on. I had fond memories of working the collection with my father but it had sat boxed up in my basement for the last ten years. I called SOS to help me prepare the collection to be appraised and to find a reputable and suitable company to appraise it. Sarah took the lead, helping me review the collection, and making arrangements for the collection to be appraised. She also got advice through her connections that helped me make a decision on what to do once I received the appraisal. Although she offered to take the collection for appraisal on my behalf, I chose to do that myself. Sarah is thoughtful and professional. She was great about following up and suggesting "baby steps" when I started slowing the process when it got to be a bit more emotional than I expected. My husband and I have been excited to move into a bigger and much better house for years. We have 3 kids, 2 jobs, and minimal time to get our house organized. After living on our new house for 2 months I was feeling quite frustrated with the organization of our kitchen. Even after trying 2 separate locations, I never would open the correct drawer to get a spoon! The flow didn't feel right. That's when I heard about Sarah. I was a little hesitant because I didn't know what to expect... would she come in and move everything around or throw things out without talking to me? My experience with Sarah was amazing. She was so easy to work with. She came over my house to check out the kitchen and create a plan. After chatting with me we BOTH decided that my involvement would be important for my happiness in our particular job. So we set up a time for her to come back. Thank goodness for Sarah! My husband and I were fortune enough to have Sarah help us declutter before a big move and tackle (among other things) our shed, which was so full to the brim that we could merely peer into its dark depths from the doorway. With Sarah's magic, by the end, we had not only removed a large quantity of items to donate, but could actually walk in and fully around, with everything organized and ready for the move. Sarah and I have worked on organizing my excessive craft supplies to fit in a small space for two sessions now. She's terrific. First time I was a bit nervous but she put me at ease quickly; let me talk about the loss of my partner and how I'm getting back into crafting. I started my own business and needed to organize a system to keep track of my expenses so that tax time wouldn't be a nightmare. I've tried downloading different Apps to help but Sarah helped talk me through the fact that I might not be an "App person". I am so glad I decided to hire Sarah. I can't begin to express how much better I feel having opened up some "space" around-me not just in my home, but within myself. I lost my husband (the love of my life) in January, 2015, and it has been a paralyzing process to "let go" of anything; it seems, emotionally, that if I let go of anything, I am letting go of him once and for all. Sarah has been so empathetic and extremely instrumental in helping to lead me through the painful process, helping me distinguish what is really worth saving (for now) and what is useless clutter, but in a very gentle and encouraging way. Sarah was an extraordinary asset during the planning of our wedding. She singlehandedly orchestrated the transportation for over 100 guests from easy-to-reach pickup/dropoff locations to our destination venue. Amidst the chaos of weeks leading up to our wedding, my wife and I suddenly realized that we had not planned any transportation to move our 100+ guests from downtown Santa Barbara to our wedding venue 20 miles away. Uber wasn't an option due to the semi-rural location, and with a budget running dangerously thin, we were at a loss for how to coordinate a reasonable way for people to get there and back. Sarah was not only the one who called our attention to our transportation oversight, but graciously offered to handle EVERYTHING for us. This was the single best wedding present anyone could have given us. With nothing more than a spreadsheet of guest names and contact info, she was able to contact each person and identify his or her transportation needs. She then called every bus and limo service in the area and negotiated the best price per person for quality limo-busses, then coordinated the optimal pick up and drop off times, locations, and number of trips. From there she compiled the lists of people and their preferences, and outlined who would be on each bus for each trip to and from the venue. She then paid for the busses with her own credit card and set up an easy-pay system with multiple options for people to reimburse her. The feedback we received from our guests was that it was the easiest and most enjoyable transportation scenario they'd ever experienced for a destination wedding venue, and the cost per person ended up being a fraction of what they would have paid for taxis. Sarah even organized refreshments for the ride, and personally maintained communication with the limo company throughout the day and evening to ensure that everything went smoothly. We can't thank Sarah enough for rescuing us from an overwhelming situation that would have been impossible for us to have managed even half as well. Her intuition, ability, dedication, tact, and grace were truly amazing, and we would highly recommend her to anyone who might need the assistance of a top-tier organizer. read more
