So I began my journey with Contractors Coach in October of '23. I had been in the remodeling business for 9 years and it seemed to continue to get worse. 250k in debt with a secondary lender at 20 plus percent, consistently not being able to pay my company bills on time, barely making payroll week to week, it was ugly and getting worse by the month. I knew I needed help but how the heck was I able to afford it and what did they know that I didn't after all these years in business?? But I was at the end of my business rope and getting worse so I took a gamble and called Contractors Coach. After an interview describing my issues they set me up with Tom Pearson and honestly, it changed my business life (which changed my personal life). Today is May 29, 2024 and everything has changed. I have paid my (I kid you NOT) secondary note off, have gone from negative financial numbers to a gross profit of 30%, total expenses under 14%, and a net income of over 15%. Here's a tip, if you don't understand what these numbers mean (like I didn't 6 months ago) you will continue to struggle. Among other things, Tom taught me to read my financials which helped me understand what was wrong and what was right. He immediately identified a flaw in my estimating process then week after week we tutored the financials until I could understand where my money was going and how to make the numbers work. There is no quick fix when you are in as deep as I was. But having an understanding of how to climb out of the hole and the patience to put in the right financial practices over the course of only 6 months is absolutely remarkable. Kind, witty, knowledgeable, non-judgmental, he's a wonderful balance to get you on the right road. But I have to say there is ONE huge issue with the guy, sadly, he's a 49ers fan. Thankfully I was able to overlook that fault and focus on his lessons and it changed me. God Bless you Tom Pearson. Go Lions! read more

I'm Loren Dougherty, the owner of Alpha Alarm & Audio, Inc. We have been in business for over 20 years. About a year ago I was struggling because my business did not have systems and there was no coherent culture in the business. When I met with the coaches at The Contractors Coach I felt they were really interested in helping me. During the coaching sessions we addressed the problems quickly. I learned how to create an effective company culture, and it helped weed out some people who were really bad employees. Our workflow is way better now, we are more efficient, and our profits are definitely up. We are twice as profitable on each job as we were a year ago. Now I'm confident we can double the size of our company over the next two years. And if you are considering growing your business - "You'd be stupid not to work with them." I can't say enough great things about The Contractor's Coach. Working with Marissa was one of the best choices I ever made as a business owner. Too many coaches come in and try to tell you what's wrong with your company and throw a band-aid on the situation, or just ask lots of questions and hope you come to your own answers. The Contractor's Coach takes a completely different approach: rebuilding from the ground up to make a profitable company. The steps that they follow and the system they have created is awesome and in my opinion, a must for all business owners, contractors or not! read more

We have been in business for the past 10 years. About a year ago, we were facing growing pains in our company. We had hiring problems, we couldn't find the right people, and we were spending too much time working in the business. We knew we were in the way of our business we did not know what we needed to change. We really needed help in and keep us accountable to implement changes and to be able to spend more time with family. Over the past 9 months since we have started the coaching program, the process has been intense. Looking back, it made me realize how much we have accomplished in such a short period of time. Our business now has more systems and we are much more accurate in tracking our numbers. We are not as afraid of losing our butts on larger projects, so our average project size has gone up. The biggest help for us has been to not have to recreate the wheel and find someone who had the system and just give it to us - that part has been very helpful. Since we are husband and wife, we have also done a lot better staying out of each other's way and this process has helped smooth out the way we work with each other. read more

Eight years ago, I attended a seminar put on by Karan Dhillon at The Contractors Coach and I knew then that I wanted him for a coach. Still an employee then, I wasn't able to make that decision. Several months ago when I received their marketing materials, the time was right and I called right away for an appointment. I was impressed with the warmth and professionalism of his staff, which was a big plus at first impact. I am a business major and recognize the value of Karan's MBA and wide range of skills. Plus, the pleasing personalities, environment and nice office surroundings set the right tone. I was definitely a contractor who was "working too damn hard, for too little money and too much stress." My need was for business guidance and to learn how to work on the business itself, as opposed to just working in the business. I wanted to build business systems, not make the same mistakes year after year, which happens without systems in place. I want to turn my business into a tool to provide for my lifestyle, not be my life. In the few months I have been coaching at The Contractors Coach, I am able to understand my numbers, I have a business plan and I have personal plans and goals. I am mentally well-prepared now, after the personal development phase of the program I chose. To contractors who are struggling with their businesses: if they have no skills or education and are working without systems, they are setting themselves up for disappointment or failure, and are usually slaves to their businesses. Each business needs a specific plan. The Contractors Coach can guide and help to develop the skills which can make a business a tool which can be controlled, not control the owner. When I went in for my first 90-minute with The Contractors Coach, I felt like their system was speaking directly to the issues I was dealing with. I didn't feel like I was making as much money as I should have been, and I couldn't figure out why. I wanted to be able to make that kind of money without being married to my business. They've helped me completely change my mentality about how I run my company, which was exactly where I needed to start. When you can't seem to find an answer to a problem, it seems like they always have that answer at The Contractors Coach. Their program isn't for everyone, but if it works for you, it will really get your business where you want it to be. read more

I have always enjoyed construction so in 2012 I decided to start my own business as a General Contractor. I wanted to have flexibility in my schedule and be my own boss. As Contractors, we have all the same obstacles and issues going on with scheduling and paying employees, managing multiple projects, and purchasing materials. However, there are simple ways of handling all this and you don't have to reinvent the wheel to do so. You simply have to create systems and designate the right people to handle all these business tasks. I was getting a lot of work but having no background in business, I was in the chaos stage and spending hours upon hours trying to schedule, manage, and organize projects, clients, and just a few employees. After just a year into this program, I have created systems and delegated specific tasks to the right people on my crew which has allowed my business and crew to develop into a well organized and self-sufficient team. So far I have doubled the size of my business. I now have 8 employees and I've started to use systems that have made my business a lot more efficient and my profit margins have doubled from last year. Now I look at my watch and it's 11:00 AM and I'm done, I have nothing else to do for the rest of the day. I'm married with three kids and I now spend almost twice the amount of time with them as I did last year. I have a lot more flexibility in my day. I can walk my kids to and from school and have regular lunch dates with my wife. Don't stay in chaos and don't let your business run your life. Take control by contacting the Contractor's Coach and then sit back and enjoy all your free time. Steve - Danville, Ca read more

The Contractors Coach specializes directly with contractors, so they're great at personalizing their program specifically for you. They helped me make clear, concise goals for my business and for me personally. Without establishing goals, your business is just existing, and they will really help you get out of that. I have a much better insight on how to achieve my goals because of their program, highly recommended. RGC - Danville, CA read more

Having a mentor as a businessman is important. My time at The Contractors Coach has taught me focus, purpose, and direction. Being a master of your trade doesn't always mean you can run a good company, and that's why I sought out The Contractors Coach. I needed to learn how to be a businessman, and in a year and a half of going to Karan, I've learned how to be a good businessman, and my sales have doubled. I've built and maintained significantly better relationships with the homeowners I work with, as well as other contractors I do business with. They consider me reliable and punctual now, which I don't think I could have said before going to The Contractors Coach. I've seen firsthand what contractors look like pre-Karan, and I've seen what they look like post-Karan, and it's such an improvement. If you've been in construction for a long time and still feel like you can't get anywhere, go to The Contractors Coach. Their tips may feel risky and scary at first, but because of Karan, my life has been enhanced and my mindset has been changed for the better. Eric Ross Five Star Floors Inc. read more
