Attached to a gas station and not AT ALL what we expected in every category. Absolutely poor quality food and order execution. This Firebaugh location doesn't carry most of the options we selected when we checked out online through their website. I purchased a blue cheese burger, but they don't have it. We purchased O Ring Fries and received two O's on top of a basket of regular fries. They didn't have any of the fancy sauces listed on the website. Our kids opted for Lemonade with their kids meal. Not only did they not have ANY drink ready when we came to pick up our mobile order, they didn't mention they only offer typical soda fountain drinks with less options than an average fast food joint. We ordered online and the website looks modern and lists all kinds of sauces, Strawberry hibiscus soda, all kinds of toppings and customizable options. Apparently this particular franchise is not upholding the brand's intended image of an upscale burger. No one working even cared that they were missing half of the details on our $44 order. They just looked at me and said "we don't have that" without offering any solution or understanding. read more

Wanted to like it, but expensive and salty... The cheesesteak, maybe should have melted cheese in the chopped (not over cooked) steak, as opposed to the salty, cheesy onions, with a side of over cooked cheap meat cuts. Additionally some food service issues, such as the cook employee messing around with friends in the dining room, the cashier helping food prep, but no washing hands between handling cash and food. Finally the ticket was clearly marked to go, but it came out "dine in", when pointed out it was all unceremoniously dropped into a bag with no thought of presentation. Usually people say if there are not a lot of people there you should stay out because the food probably isn't any good but when we ate here the food was delicious. Aside from the fact that we found hair in our water which is weird. I had a buffalo chicken burger and my wife had the classic burger along with a full order of bacon and cheese fries everything was delicious and I highly recommend eating at this place just maybe don't order the water. read more

Solid burger joint in the middle of nowhere. We were on our way to SoCal from the Bay Area and made a pit stop at Wayback for dinner. The ambience is fast food like , but the food here is very fresh. We got about 2-3 burgers with assorted fixins and sides of fries. The patty was well cooked and so were the veggies that went on the burger. They tasted fairly fresh as well. The dressing/aioli is house made ! The milkshakes are solid and provided some much needed sugar for the weary traveler! Definitely recommend to folks looking for quality food along an otherwise dry freeway! read more

Hubby and I were pleasantly surprised. This place is delicious! The exit/stop might look a bit sketchy, but it's worth the stop. The restaurant is attached to a gas station. Burger were cook to order, but they were sitting on the countertop a little to long before they were served. The fries were a little cold when we got our order. The meat on the burger were dry. The food was really amazing here and we had only stopped here as a quick lunch as we were traveling to San Diego. The food was really neatly presented. We noticed that the service there was slow, but realized that they had a shortage of employees. It was great since we also needed to stop here for a quick refill of gas. On a road trip down to SoCal from The Bay on interstate 5, I stopped by this burger for something other then McDonald's. It was nice, clean, and seemed to have some options. They had 2 TV's playing the movie "Sing" which was pretty cool to watch while waiting for my order. I ordered the horse radish butter burger and fries which were cooked to order and fresh. The texture if the meat patty seemed leaner then average. The taste was not all there for me but not enough to detour one's interest. I may have ordered the wrong burger? I could give them another try. The other burger selections here at Wayback burger do look like delicious concepts. The fries were crisp and delicious. Didn't expect a gem like this in the middle of nowhere off the 5. We usually stop in Coalinga during our regular trips from the Bay to LA but our newborn couldn't wait that long. We ended up at Wayback Burgers and I'm so glad we did! The food was great- a nice break from road trip, drive thru garbage. Atmosphere also perfect for a family with three little ones. They even played Boss Baby on the TVs so our kids could chill out while we waited for our food. Will definitely be back on our next drive. read more

Stopped here for lunch on my way to San Francisco. I was pleasantly surprised. Dining area is very clean with self serve fountain drinks. Bathroom is located on the gas station side (this restaurant shares property with a gas station convenient store). We ordered our food at the counter and a young lady brought it to our table. Food is good. You can really taste the freshness. Meat is not frozen and cooked to medium/well. They have a lot of options. So during my road trip to LA my family stopped by this burger joint to try the burgers! It was supposed to be like a gourmet burger or a bit on the higher end of McDonald's. The burgers were better then the typical fast food places and they were bigger too. The burgers are pretty heavy though and it costs more then your typical burger. I really like their veggie burger. They use garden burger as their patty and I thought it's more filling than the Cod sandwich. You can customize it however you wish. Their Mac n Cheese bites aren't all that and not very memorable. Their fries are good though! Their shakes are pretty good too. I'm not a milkshake person but they had this special Caramel Cinnamon Toast Crunch Milkshake my boyfriend and I couldn't pass up. It tasted good and I like the pieces of cinnamon toast crunch cereal.
