I would give this pub zero stars if I could, the service was as slow as a sloth crossing the road. We ordered pints and it took over 45 minutes to come. In the space of 3 hours we had 2 pints, I was more sober walking out than in. Made a reservation Dec 25th. three weeks in advance. This was one of the few restaurants open on that day. Received a confirmation from a certain Dylan Greene confirming my reservation. Best bartender in town!!! She made the best old fashioned I've ever had the pleasure of drinking. She also made a fantastic espresso martini. The Thursday night open mic was so much fun, excellent musicians! And then they gave the stage to the DJ and that's where things went wrong. He played terrible music and wouldn't play requests. Disappointing considering he cleared out the bar and we were basically the only group left. Luckily they have an outside area we could go to avoid that noise. I'm still giving 5 stars because of our bartenders and the open mic musicians who hung out and talked for a bit. Hey @Waxy'sOwner, DITCH THE DJ AND LET THE OPEN MIC MUSICIANS PLAY ON! Great spot for food, drink a beer, and watch football. One can always rely on an Irish pub to be showing games from the English Premier League whilst abroad. Even native Germans resort to speaking English here, which is great for tourists, but maybe not so beneficial for language learners who want to keep in practice. So let me first say that I love Waxy's. I come here almost every weekend and celebrate everything from my birthday to going away parties here. The atmosphere on karaoke nights is always nice. The place is packed for a reason. The staff is fun and friendly. The host of the karaoke night creates a fun and safe atmosphere for everyone. Every time I bring friends here for the first time, they always rave about how fun it was. Now for the food. I have eaten here a few times and I would have to give it 3.5 stars in that area. The burgers are a bit overdone and dry. Not the best quality meat. The fries are delicious and the Caesar salad is ok except it definitely lacks that authentic flavor one would expect from this type of salad. For example it has shredded cheese instead of parmesan cheese. It doesn't have that tangy flavor I would expect from a Caesar salad. The desserts were pretty good though. Overall I love Waxy's, it's my favorite place to come dance and drink in Frankfurt. They could improve on the food but besides that it's a guaranteed good time. read more

Waxy's is our goto place in Frankfurt. We tend to go for lunch on the weekends or early dinner, not really into the karaoke or game day thing. The staff has always been helpful and attentive. Well, not "US attentive" but good for northern Europe. I've had a good number of things over the years; the burgers and fries are great, the Sunday Roast was fun and good, their open sandwiches are a good way to do a salad, the beef nachos are great, the shepherd's pie is tasty, I've yet to be disappointed. The drinks...I get beer, it's cold and wet and brought to my table, it's hard to do beer wrong ;) We have a small dog and a baby these days and it has never been a problem. My advice: Give it a try, my family enjoys it. read more

Hm... not really sure what to say about Waxy's but I thought I'd review it since I have been going there off and on for years (although I always end up there at the last minute and highly unplanned). Waxy's is a take it or leave it type place. It is owned by the same guy who owns O'reilly's over by the Hauptbahnhof. If you have been to O'reilly's and don't like it, no fear... Waxy's stands a better chance of being liked. The area that surrounds O'reillys is more like Heroin Alley and the area surrounding Waxy's is more like Cocaine Corner. Not really (ok, really), but you get my jist. Waxy's has horrific food, but good news is that it is uphill from there! It is cleaner, more chill, and attracts a semi-classier crowd than many bars in Frankfurt. Luckily, amongst all the bankers hanging out here, you can also find some pretty cool expats and Germans thrown in the mix. The beer is overpriced but I suppose the place would attract a shittier crowd if it were cheaper. The service isn't anything to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. I feel as though I'm writing a pretty apathetic review on the place, but I'm giving it three stars (would be 2.5 if I had the chance though). The one thing Waxy's does exceptionally well is 'events'. They had some pretty badass World Cup parties back in 2014. I have to admit that. They have karaoke... which is a night I will always intentionally avoid but middle-aged German women seem to love. They now also have quiz nights on Monday nights. The quiz nights have a LONG way to go before being something worth rating, but hey- an English pub quiz on this side of Frankfurt and I have not a damn thing to complain about! Another Elite reviewed Waxy's as a place that most people hate, but still go to. I think that describes this place perfectly. It's never really anyone's favorite pub, but you will have the same experience every time you go, so you somehow end up here. I like to call Waxy's "Old Faithful" for it being this way. But seriously- serve better food! 10 Euros for a chewy, secondary-cut steak and greasy fries is not a good deal. Another note before I quit rambling- Waxy's has one of the best patios in the city during the summer. read more

When there is sports event make sure you reserve a place cuz they get full quite fast. The food is quite good especially the burger, which tastes as if homemade and it comes with fried potatoes, and the portions are quite big. They offer a lot of different types of beer and cocktails. make sure you order the long island as it is very delicious. It costs 9 EUR, thus much more expensive than at other places, but it is quite good. You can watch sports inside on a huge beamer screen or outside on a flat screen tv. either way pure entertainment is guaranteed. Have been here a few times with mixed experiences. Karaoke can be fun but is a bit chaotic. Service could be much better especially when there are empty tables reserved for "eating only "and you are sent to a bar with no room to stand at the bar. Being polite doesn't cost anything and may even bring returning custom and was in total contrast to the surrounding bars where we were met with excellent customer service which I will review in other posts. read more

Just came into Frankfurt for a layover before flying back to NJ. Around the corner from the downtown Hilton is a sports bar called Waxy's. Such a great vibe! Probably the worst place to do a Karaoke in Germany (or maybe in Europe, or in the world). I ordered a song and asked the DJ how many songs are ahead of mine, and the DJ surly said "We make the rules." In the meantime, the host at the stage was singing his own songs for 30min and dancing around with waitresses instead of letting customers sing the songs they ordered.
