I never leave yelp reviews but I think this needs to be out there. There is a woman on instagram @kristinasanta , who had a very bad experience and reaction to RF micro needling (this was NOT done by waxitude) This owner on her Instagram page @waxitude_studio_spa , left a heinous comment on this poor woman's video... stating "You absolutely should've chosen numbing cream! Stupid" This woman trusted a professional to give her medical grade skincare and has been traumatized and will likely having permanent scarring all over her face. I just think it's extremely unprofessional, classless, and honestly frightening for a cosmetician to degrade this poor woman like that... from a BUSINESS ACCOUNT no less. You're an embarrassment to your craft and you should honestly be ashamed. Classless. read more

Well, this is an unfortunate review to write. I went to see Wendy at Waxitude for a Brazilian after stumbling across a Groupon deal. At first, the experience was great. Wendy is charismatic and I felt comfortable immediately. However, during the wax I felt that Wendy became too comfortable. She made a couple of random comments regarding race that made me uncomfortable. I was too shocked to respond and didn't feel like continuing conversation much afterward. During the wax, she informed me that my hair was too short to be picked up in some areas. She had already started so I went along with it knowing I would have to fix a few spots at home. The wax wasn't bad. If not for the uncomfortable dialogue - I would've returned to Wendy to get waxed again. Unfortunately, the review does not end here. Wendy had mentioned early in the appointment that she also offers teeth whitening. I had been looking to get my teeth whitened so I took her up on the offer. After my wax, she got me set up for the whitening process. The treatment is 30 minutes long and Wendy had her back to me for the first 20 minutes. During this time, I was extremely uncomfortable - my gums were on FIRE and I was frantically trying to manage my drool. When she finally came over to check in, I was unable to communicate my discomfort. She tucked a paper towel under my chin, turned the light intensity down, and went back to whatever she was doing. When the time was up and she took the trays out, my gums were completely white. I was shocked, but Wendy assured me that the intensity was just set too high on her new light and that this was normal. "The color will fade on its own throughout the day." I felt that it was irresponsible to provide a service using new equipment prior to making sure she was doing so safely. For the next four days I was barely able to eat. The pain I experienced to move my mouth at all was almost unbearable. My gums and the inside of my bottom lip were completely raw. It was not fun. To summarize - both services I received turned out okay. My teeth ended up looking a little whiter and my wax was fine after I touched it up. However, you can achieve the same results somewhere else without obliterating your mouth or sitting through uncomfortable conversation. read more

I've been coming to Wendy almost 8yrs now and don't want to go elsewhere. She makes you feel so comfortable and super friendly. She's taken care of me for special occasions, given me great deals and is now doing a Plasma Pen on my stretch marks. My tattoos were more 'painful'. I'm not feeling most of the work she's doing! Instead of leaving negative feedback, maybe don't be greedy and try to take advantage of someone's good nature. read more

So glad I found Wendy's Spa Services through a Groupon! I'm a hooked customer and keep going back. Wendy shares a space in a building with several other salon and spa small business owners. Her customer service is excellent and personality is hysterical an very laid back. This is so helpful and distracting when you're getting a wax which can otherwise be a somewhat painful procedure. Wendy's base prices are comparatively already fair so if you sign up for deals via text or email its a steal. Best prices in town. read more

I dread writing negative reviews (and rarely have had an experience that would warrant one), but I feel this is necessary. I went to Waxitude Studio Spa in Burnsville for a teeth whitening service by Wendy that I found on Groupon. Had I done my research properly, I would have realized that teeth whitening should be left to the professionals (e.g. a dentist), and not a beautician running a small business. Being my first professional teeth whitening experience, I would have also appreciated an explanation of the process prior to beginning the service as that would have likely made some of the experience smoother. Instead, Wendy simply handed me the supplies, pressed the button to start the process, and off she went to her desk. During the 30 minute service, Wendy had her back to me the entire time and did not check once to see how everything was sitting inside my mouth. About 10 minutes in, I began feeling enormous pain and discomfort on my gums, and felt as if I were counting down the minutes until I was done. I began wondering why I had wasted my time and money on something that was far from pleasant. Had Wendy checked on me, she might have noticed the discomfort and tried fixing it, potentially changing the outcome of my experience. Once I was finished, I noticed a white layer on my upper gum, which Wendy explained was simply a reaction to the solution. She informed me it would go away within 20 minutes, and that would be the only "side effect" I would experience aside from mild gum sensitivity. Before I left, Wendy tried to sell me on booking a few more whitening appointments at a reduced rate. I felt that was a little sketchy, and told her I would wait until everything settled to see if I would want to do this again. She appeared disappointed, which made me feel guilty, but I left without booking anyway. The white layer on my gum did in fact subside throughout the day, and initially, I had no other side effects other than sensitivity, which I expected. The results were also disappointing as my teeth did not look even one shade whiter than before. More alarmingly, however, was what took place several hours later. During the evening, I began to notice that my lips were feeling unusually chapped, so I diligently applied chap stick and eventually stopped thinking about them. Throughout the night, I felt a sore on the inside of my bottom lip (it began feeling like a cold sore), and the pain intensified as the night went on. At one point, I finally looked in the mirror, and to my surprise, my bottom lip was swollen. The swelling was so intense that it looked as though I had been hit in the face. Additionally, it felt incredibly hot and I could not eat or drink anything without feeling intense pain. At first, I thought I was having an allergic reaction the solution and was very scared. The next day, however, I learned that I actually got burnt from the lamp that was placed in front of my mouth. Over the next few days, the swelling persisted and blisters began forming on both the interior and exterior part of lip. My gums were also tender and bled, and they began peeling and blistering as well. Not only was it painful and uncomfortable, it was also embarrassing. I contacted Wendy the next morning and she exclaimed this "had never happened before", and said it was my fault, saying I "did not put enough Vitamin E on my lips" beforehand. I was extremely shocked and upset that she refused to take any responsibility and was quick to blame it on me. Of course I knew I was more than careful and thorough applying the gel, and could not believe her lack of professionalism. After visiting the Pharmacy and doing research, I learned that this is actually a common side effect only when the service is performed by someone who is not competent or properly qualified. Rather than own up to her mistake, she put the blame on me. To say I do not recommend this service would be an understatement. If you feel so inclined to have your teeth whitened, do your research first, and then make sure it is done by a professional who knows what they are doing. Not at an a la carte "spa" that provides facial waxing and manicures/pedicures. Although I cannot speak for Wendy's other services, I can attest to her lack of professionalism, compassion and competence. I will not be returning to her salon and advise others to have caution before doing so. read more

I travel to the Twin Cities semi-regularly. Every time I am in the area I try to get in to see Wendy for whatever waxing and nail services I need. Ever since that first time over 4 years ago she has done a great job, making me feel at home. My fingers and toes look good (in a manly way lol), and her arm and leg massages after tending to my digits leave me ready for that next sprint down terminal G at MSP Airport. Disappointed in my brazilian wax. After being told my hair was too coarse and short in some areas for her to finish waxing, I went home and finished it myself. Now how can I get areas that a professional cannot?!?! She left areas all over the place not waxed. Very disappointing since my husband and I were leaving for our Honeymoon. I've waxed myself several times before and have been professionally waxed. This was not a new experience. I will find someone else to inflict pain on me... hopefully they can do a better job. read more
