After a lovely drive through the windy roads of west cork we arrived in the evening to be greeted by David and Elizabeth. It was great to meet them both on their own land and they showed us around. The location is beautiful being a close drive to Drimoleague village while at the same time being remote and quiet. They have ducks, chickens, sheep and cows on site as well as a beautiful dog named Daisy. They have on site showers and bathrooms as well as a games room, laundry and kitchen. There were many families there when we stayed and you can see as it is ideal as well as for couples or singles who need some relaxation. The pods them self are beautiful and very well insulated and cosy. Nice and minimalistic with little distractions so you can relax. I will definitely be returning to stay again.

This ancient meeting place has once again come alive with the sound of families taking time to be together. Our Pod Páirc is a safe and homely place for your family holiday or weekend away. It is also a perfect venue for couples with miles of walkways and river banks to wander along. Larger walking groups also come to avail of our group rates and wonderful facilities. Often people just come solo to take time out on their own. For the adventure enthusiast, there is walking, cycling and cross country running in the challenging landscape surrounding us. Our working cattle farm with its sheep, hens and ducks is a hive of interest for young and old alike, and you will enjoy meeting our dog "Daisy". Pods are new to this island, and our Pod Páirc is the first of its kind in Ireland. We have seven pods, with different levels of comfort and space to Pods/Accommodation suit your particular needs. Our pods were originally designed by UK engineer Ian Bone who was inspired by early Christian structures such as the Gallarus Oratory beyond Dingle, Co Kerry many years ago. Now built in Co Kerry to a high standard, the pods really resonate with our landscape, as you will observe in the slideshow above...

Summary: nice family site, let down by small pitches, overcrowding and unpleasant owner…read more Upon arrival our first impression was that it was a pleasant family orientated site, but it was very crowded (peak season, so we expect this). We finally found a pitch albeit a tad small width wise. The following day, when we went shopping at the nearest Lidl (campsite barely has any supplies in their reception), we returned to discover that a trailer tent had arrived next to us, but instead of pitching up on their hard standing, they moved onto our pitch, 1 metre away from our caravan, using 1/3rd of our allocated pitch, which meant that we were unable to park our car on our pitch. We politely spoke to the campers concerned and were abruptly told that they will not move (at one point they insisted that we should move our caravan and awning!). They saw no wrong in invading our pitch space for which we had paid €45 a night for. We had to park our car in front of our caravan as there was no space due to another caravan on the other side of our pitch. We complained to the owners wife on two occasions, even gave them the pitch numbers, but was told that we were correct, the other campers should not be pitched so close to us and that Mike (the site owner) would come to sort it out. I can confirm that after 3 days of this issue, Mike never arrived. at the end of our 4th day, I noticed that the caravan on the opposite side, next to our awning had left (but the offending trailer tent was still there on the other side of our caravan), so I parked my car on their empty pitch. Within a few seconds of doing so Mike finally arrived and asked if I'd paid for that pitch, I said no, but explained what the problem was. He had no interest and demanded that I move the car to the front of my caravan as he wanted to put a motorhome there. So I complied and moved it as I do not like to cause an issue. I further tried to reason with Mike the owner and kept explaining that I was paying €45 a night for a pitch (paid extra for my 4 kids) and that for all my stay here, I've been only able to use 2/3rds of my pitch and that it was not fair. I clearly said that I was not happy, but he seemed to ignore me and kept re-insisting that I had not paid for the other pitch so I should not park my car in there. He did say that I could park on the pitch next to my awning, but then retracted it by telling me that I cannot park on that pitch because the site is full and that I had not paid for a 2nd pitch!!!! I further tried to explain that they were so close, we could hear every word, and vice versa. Likewise when in the toilet in our caravan, they could hear us urinating as they were sat on the outside only 1 metre away from the toilet. It was an awful invasion of privacy! In the end Mike dismissed me, and walked away without resolving my issue with the trailer tent still taking up 1/3rd of our pitch. He never discussed it, only redirected the discussion to me to stop parking on the adjacent spare pitch. When booking it states "All our hardstands are level and wide with electric point, a tap and a drain on each pitch. There is plenty of room to put up an awning, gazebo or pop up tent beside your caravan or motorhome." ...I would like to clarify, this is false information. The whole campsite is sloped with many pitches sloping. We did not have a drain on our pitch as only SOME pitches have a shared tap and drain, others just have a tap. This is a busy site as it's the only camping site in Tralee. We then noticed loads of tents pitched up behind other caravans in the same field as the tent camping area was severely overcrowded and space was tight. I have to say that we won't be coming back again as this has ruined our holiday. We were on the verge of leaving 2 days early, but decided to stay for the full week as our ferry back to the UK does not leave until tomorrow. It has left an unpleasant taste and caused arguments with myself and my wife. What should've been a happy holiday in Ireland has not turned into a stressful one. My impression on the reviews is that if you have no issues, then the owners appear great, but when there is an issue they refuse to hold up their hand and take responsibility or resolve issues. For this is the main reason why I score the site so low. We have 1 more night here and are happy to write this before our departure as I have tried to be as honest as possible.
