I asked this exact question to every salon while trying to find someone who offered it. Not once did anyone tell me they don't do permanent straightening. Instead, they booked me in without explaining that what they actually offer is a smoothing treatment, which is completely different. I do want to say that Caryn was very kind to charge me less because my hair is shorter. That was genuinely thoughtful, and she is a very friendly lady. But even with that, the main issue here is the lack of clear communication. If a salon doesn't provide the service someone is asking for, that should be made clear upfront. I only found out after the fact when my hair didn't turn out the way it would have with a permanent straightening. Their response felt dismissive and focused more on their "no refund" policy than on the fact that I was never given the right information in the first place. The stylist said she went over the process with me at the appointment, but that never happened. If it had, I would've immediately realized it wasn't the permanent treatment I asked for. Instead, I ended up paying for something I never wanted. Overall, the miscommunication, the lack of accountability, and the unwillingness to make things right left a bad impression.
