History
Established in 1923.
For nearly a century, Waukesha County Technical College has been preparing students for success. In 1923, the newly-formed Waukesha Vocational School took up residence in the basement of Waukesha Central High School.
Enrollment grew quickly, and over the next half decade, the school moved into progressively larger spaces. In 1967, Waukesha County Vocational School became Waukesha County Technical Institute. Three years later, the school broke ground for its historic new $7 million campus in Pewaukee.
During the recession of the early 1980s, WCTI experienced record enrollment, with more than 36,000 students taking classes. Later that decade, the school changed its name to Waukesha County Technical College to better reflect its mission. In the years since, new buildings and renovations have kept WCTC on the cutting edge of technical education.
Today, the College offers extensive student services, a vibrant campus life scene and programs that are in demand with area employers.
