I am extremely disappointed with how our application for Jefferson Terrace Apartments was handled…read more My boyfriend and I were informed that we had been approved, paid our security deposit, and both signed the lease through AppFolio. We were given access to the resident portal and proceeded under the understanding that everything was finalized. Because we are trying to move back home to Oregon from Texas, we also obtained renters insurance, scheduled utilities to begin on our move-in date, and made other arrangements based on that approval. Nearly a week later, we unexpectedly received a text stating that our approval was being reversed and that our deposit would be refunded. We were later informed that the lease had not been countersigned by management and therefore was not considered active. What was especially frustrating was the communication. When I reached out to the property manager, I was told they did not know the reason for the denial and could only direct me to the applications department. Despite emailing and calling the applications department, I have struggled to obtain a timely written explanation for why our approval was reversed after we had already signed the lease and paid our deposit. I understand that apartment communities have screening procedures, but those should be completed before applicants are told they are approved, asked to sign a lease, and encouraged to move forward with making significant commitments. Having an approval reversed after taking those steps while preparing for an interstate move created an incredible amount of stress and uncertainty. I hope management reviews its communication and approval process so future applicants don't experience the same situation.

Overall I am the most unsatisfied with this property management. They moved us into a house that…read moreneeds a ton of work inside and outside, yard & all -- they have the audacity to say these things can't be fixed or that we are responsible for them. We've reached out about broken and leaking windows multiple times and they haven't been addressed. The things that have been addressed were fixed in the cheapest way possible and already needs to be repaired again. But I'm tired of wasting my breath. I've waisted so much money living here and it's the slum. I wouldn't recommend this property management at all. Run far away in the other direction. Seriously. Wish us luck trying to convince them that the damage to the property was already here when we moved in, and not try to pin this on us too.

Choosing Northwest Investment Management Services to manage my home as a rental is perhaps the…read moreworst decision I've ever made. I loved my home, and didn't want to sell after I got married. I thus decided to keep it as a rental. My first renter was wonderful. My second renter was letting the yard go. I thought a rental management company would help me ensure the house was kept in good condition. When I interviewed Rex, and told him how much the house meant to me, and how I was concerned that the yard was looking bad, I remember him telling me that he would make sure that I was proud of the house. In the 5-ish years that he managed the house, he did one walk through, and two inspections. The inspections were after neighbor complaints. Each time, I asked him how the house was, and he told me that everything looked fine. When the tenant finally moved out, we found: carpet soaked in urine, garage concrete soaked in urine, baseboard and molding chewed up, blinds chewed up, windows scratched, window screens ripped, about 1/4 inch of dog fur and dust on every surface, a shed stuffed with trash, mattresses and tires in the back yard, broken appliances, and more. In what universe would this be considered 'fine'?

I've had a really good experience with LongStreet as a remote owner. They have clear processes,…read morethey stick to them, and they actually do what they say they'll do. My manager is great on follow-through, it's been solid, so I feel like I can trust them to handle issues without me needing to be local. Their pricing feels fair for the level of service and peace of mind I'm getting, especially with them keeping the place well maintained and compliant.

Use of the agents made it…read moreimpossible to reach anyone on their "24 hr maintenance emergency line", so if anything happens after a certain time of night, you're screwed. I lived on an older property that had a lot of plumbing issues: the main line would get clogged constantly, making it so we couldn't use the bathroom in our own house. When this happened late at night this means we were left completely without a bathroom (and the AI advised us not to use any water) so we were completely without water. Totally unacceptable. Disgusting cheapskate move to use AI. I sympathize with them that it would be annoying to answer late night calls, but that's also just about their only job and the only thing worth rating them for on this end. We should've had a hotel or at least some sort of working toilet. I'll give them and extra star because they do send good maintenance people, even if it is not within an acceptable time frame.
