Waterstones is one of the largest specialist book retailers in Europe, with stores in the UK and Ireland, as well as The Netherlands and Belgium and near enough anyone, whether you be a child, an old man, a book enthusiast, or someone who hasn't read in their whole lives (Unbelievable right?) you will have heard of Waterstones.
This store in the Manchester Arndale is one of the larger, nicer branches and a nice edition to the top floor of the Arndale, opposite Nando's and next to New Look.
They is a big range of books here, whether it be for kids or adults and book signings often occur here, but be warned, the demand is normally sky high for book signings and queues may be as long as you are basically standing outside Yo Sushi.
Waterstones always has a good range of books, even some seats where you can sit and read the books, hence walking away with your wallets not a dime lighter. They is also a small Costa Coffee in here, but with so many Costa Coffee stores and coffee shops in Manchester city centre, this isn't really needed.
Waterstones are trying to compete with book-sellers like Amazon, but this seems to be a struggle for them as for most things Waterstones is closer to the high end pricing scale rather than cheap cheap cheap, although this gives it a better feel rather than a discounters, no one likes a store that is as pricy as this one, or all Waterstones' for example and it pains me to see people spending pounds and pounds more of what they could of spent elsewhere, and the main killer IS Waterstones hence although this is a nice, big branch the pricing does let it down, and I can only give 2 stars.
Reasons this store is not a 3 star:
- To keep up with modern society the look of this store could do with slightly modernising which could involve changing the floor design and the sign.
Why this is not a 4-5 star:
- The biggest issue is the pricing
- The staff could appear as more friendlier read more
