Huge park with lots of shade and a huge splash pad! I'm not from the Waterloo-Kitchener area, but after a sushi buffet lunch, we figured it'll be nice to walk off all the food and let the kids run around. The park is a 10-minute drive from downtown Kitchener and offers free parking. There are multiple picnic areas, a cricket field, basketball hoops, a small lake (though it was pretty dried up when we went), several playgrounds, trails, bike paths and a live animal section. My daughter saw real peacocks for the first time and thought they were dinosaurs! Other live animals include llamas, pgymy goat, pigs, and donkeys. There are tons of big trees and benches scattered throughout the park to give visitors a place to rest or enjoy a picnic lunch. My kids loved the splash pad area. It's free and offers plenty of room to run around. The water structures are on a timer and the water wasn't too cold. There's change rooms and a covered picnic bench area right at the splash pad. If you're in the area, maybe after doing some shopping at St. Jacob's, and you want to enjoy the natural outdoors, check out this park! It's massive and I think you can even rent adult scooters!

Waterloo park is a cute area of nature close to the university, but currently walking to and fro is just a mess (also parking). The construction around the train track really take away from the whole experience day and night. That being said the city does care for the park and there was a number of different light installations along the fences near the tracks, some of which support Canada in the upcoming Olympics. This park has a petting zoo in the middle of it. Personally I do not find this as an attraction or necessary, but to each their own. Hoping when the construction lifts in the next year or more it will return back to it's cute self.

Lovely park with really small and cute playgrounds, parks, a pond, paths and a little temple-like area for weddings. The part that I love about this park are the animals in this park. Coming here for a stroll the other day, there were two llamas and two deer inside the cages. I feel like in the summer, more animals will come out such as chicken, etc. The pond has a really pretty deck and temples set up along the edges. I really enjoy this pond, however the waters are not very pleasant as they are FILLED with duck and geese feeces. For such a nice environment, the pond waters were extremely disturbing. In addition, all of Waterloo is currently going through construction of the LRT. This goes through the park and therefore, a bit of the park is currently undergoing construction as well. I would like to come back to this park after this construction and hopefully the cleaning of the pond waters.

Such a relaxing beautiful place! It's always so enjoyable to walk around and sit by the pond or watch the animals (mini horses, llamas, chickens, donkeys, peacocks, deer) walk around :D is also nice and quiet and clean here!

Well, with the recent heatwave that happened, I was in the neighbourhood, saw a parking lot, and decided to stop by. It was 36°C outside. With the humidity, it was much hotter. I am crazy, but I am glad that I stopped by. I walked around the park. It's picturesque and I can understand why folks choose to get wedding photos taken here. There are plenty of benches around. The bike and walking paths are generous. There are a ton of bridges over the water. Lots of folks were out and about. I also got to say hi to a dog and his owner. For kids, there's a splash area. There were plenty of cheerful kids cooling off and having a good time. I liked the canoe that was at the park. It was different, but a good fit. I spent nearly an hour there. I left fearing that I would be a water blob from the heat. I will try coming back here when it's not as humid. It's the perfect way to relax, take a stroll, and take photos of this beautiful park. There was a short trail for hiking but I wouldn't recommend coming here for hiking. We still managed to get some fall colours in our photos which was nice. Remember to book your reservations online. We paid $35 which was a bit pricey but the fees cover admission to Christie Lake as well which would costs $25 for the 3 of us. We just went to Christie Lake a few weeks ago and didn't know about this deal. It's only about 7 mins drive to Christie Lake so we decided to go there for our picnic lunch after our walk at Spencer Gorge.

Highly recommend to visit all seasons but the most interesting though would have been during the Fall when the leaves changing colour. And when it is cooler, it is more relaxing to do the hike then in extreme summer heat. You have the option visit the 2 falls: Webster's Falls and Tews Falls by hiking through the trail or if you pressed for time or with limit mobility, you can just drive to both by car. If you do want to visit Dundas Peak then the only option is to park your car at Tews Falls and just walk there. I just love to listen to the sound of water and the view is enjoyable. A great mini hike next time if you are in the area!
