I really like Post Offices. Aside from the fact that I love getting actual post and it depresses me that email and instant messaging are slowly killing the good old fashioned letter, Post Offices remind me of my childhood, as it was the place I went to get sweets and bottles of bubbles.
Though much smaller than Albany Road PO and the one in town, Waterloo Gardens has the advantage of plenty of parking nearby, so it's great if you have a lot of parcels to send. The ladies there are really lovely too, and will happily chat to everyone who comes in. The big downside is that it doesn't provide all of the PO services, for example, you can't do your road tax here, which I find really annoying.
As well as the usual letter and parcel sending things, this branch also sells magazines, a few cards, tights, some groceries and sweets. The pick n mix sweets make this a popular place for children to go after school, and since the sweets are very close to both the door and the till, it can get very crowded between 3 and 4pm.
All in all, this is a lovely and convenient Post Office that is open surprisingly late, too. read more
