Won't take long." Ten minutes later, we were drinking delicious coffee. Menu was eclectic. Prices very reasonable. Service (Jennifer) outstanding. R66M ordered off the senior menu. Sausage and cheddar omelet w a biscuit and hash browns. Very excellent. My omelet was perfect as well. And an English muffin is an equal choice to toast. And it was the first time I ever had an EM grilled. A new experience for me! Overall, a great stop. 5 star worthy!

Nothing looked at all old or crusty the way you have to expect some diners to be. There was good music on, and just loud enough to hear and not overpower a conversation. We were seated quickly, they wiped the table down for us- we were greeted and served promptly and nobody left us hanging very long. If our waitress was busy, someone else would come by and check on us. Everyone's food looked great and the orders came out correctly aside from asking for CRISPY hash browns. I had the eggs Benedict. A little overly preached on the eggs and the hollandaise sauce had a pretty sharp tang (people either use lemon or vinegar for that so it's obviously going to be PRESENT sometimes) but I've never met an egg or a potato I didn't like and I've had hollandaise a thousand times, no two are the same, so this not a complaint just info for the customers. All in all I'd definitely eat there again.

From the outside, the branding leans heavily into the Route 66 identity--logos are everywhere, setting the expectation for a nostalgic roadside dining experience. Stepping inside, however, the atmosphere takes a different direction. Rather than embracing classic Americana, the décor feels modern, highlighted by whimsical cow artwork adorned with flower crowns. It's charming in its own way, but not the vintage Route 66 ambiance I was expecting. One thing that deserves high praise is the cleanliness. The café is immaculate, from the dining room to the overall presentation, reflecting a team that clearly takes pride in maintaining the restaurant. The food, unfortunately, was less memorable. The oatmeal was overly thick and dry, lacking the creamy comfort you'd expect. Buttered toast carried an off flavor, suggesting the griddle or butter station could use a refresh. The signature pancake, dusted with a powdered sugar "66" logo, was visually appealing and easily the meal's most Instagram-worthy item, but it too was disappointingly dense. Where Cafe 66 truly shines is its service. Every staff member I encountered was warm, welcoming, and eager to help first-time visitors feel at home. Their hospitality left the strongest impression of the visit. In my opinion, Cafe 66 seems to be transitioning away from being a destination built on Route 66 nostalgia and toward becoming a dependable neighborhood café for the Clinton community. There's nothing wrong with that--in fact, it's probably the more sustainable business model. But travelers seeking an authentic trip back in time may leave feeling that the iconic branding promises more nostalgia than the dining experience ultimately delivers.

Fortunately, we had spotted several things we'd like to see "one day". The first thing was to head back east to this place because hubby's mother was named Lucille. I was a little disappointed to see a less than 5 star rating but we went in anyway. What a delightful place! We were seated and then waited on immediately by a very friendly young lady. She helped me find the jalapeño burger then when I was having trouble selecting a side she mentioned that they had recently gotten sweet potato fries which I immediately ordered Our food came quickly and was both attractive and DELICIOUS! Much to my surprise the jalapeños weren't out of a jar! That they were battered strips. I think it was the best jalapeño hamburger I've ever had. My husband and granddaughter both enjoyed their dishes as well. Then we drove on down the road and stopped at the original gas station and got some pictures. Don't pass up this restaurant, it is worth eating at!
