Waterfront is a nice enough little venue on Granville Island. There's parking nearby and the waiting line is partly covered.
With a couple of hundred seats or so and no real bad seat in the house, this small theatre is okay in my books.
It's funny that they don't let you bring any beverages in there because it's a pretty casual theatre, not with fancy chairs or anything but they're comfortable enough.
We were there for a 70 minute Fringe production and my bony butt didn't fall asleep, so that says something.
Sound and lighting seemed adequate too, but I guess that depends on the production.
I was a little less than impressed with how the ticket sales were organized for this Fringe show.
We lined up with our vouchers, traded them in for tickets no problem. Lined up again, outside, the line moved quickly through the front doors to the theatre entrance, and just as we were about to enter, the ticket taker asked for our "membership cards".
We were taken aback. What cards? No one had mentioned that you need memberships before this, and we hadn't been to a Fringe festival production before.
We had to leave the entrance, go back out front and pay for 2 memberships before we could return, only to find seating way at the top.
What they should have done is allow one of us to go in, while the other went out to pay for memberships. Or because it was their fault for not asking in the first place, they could have informed us, and asked us to pay later. That would have been more polite.
But this isn't the theatre's fault. I'd return for another show at Waterfront. read more
