Absolutely spectacular. Penn and Teller have a great show in Las Vegas that I saw, but I felt this was even better. Hilarious jokes, great audience participation, and many tricks that leave you wondering how it was even possible. The venue itself was really cool as well! I love the speakeasy. Definitely will be taking family and friends here in the future.

Had the best time and haven't laughed so hard in ages! Smart, funny and with awe inspiring magic tricks! Great for young and old! Small and intimate venue. An absolute vibe with a cool atmosphere. Will definitely go again. Street parking available Shawn Farquhar, his family and staff make for an amazing time. 10 out of 10 highly recommend (Orig posted on old acct)

Oh my goodness! What an incredibly fun night! Shawn is a fantastic magician who puts on a truly entertaining show. Our group ranged in age from 16 to 76 and we all loved it!

I don't think I have enough words to express what an amazing time we had. We laughed and we were absolutely astounded. Shawn is funny, charming and knows his stuff! With such a small crowd he was able to interact with almost everyone and the show changes every time. Wish we lived nearby to go again, definitely recommend whether you like magic or not!

I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed our time (twice now) at Hidden Wonders. I don't want to use the word magical but I can't help it. This is a gem, a small theatre with a world class magician, just go! An evening you will never forget! I don't want to say more, go experience this for yourself.

What a fun experience! Stumbled upon this while looking for things to do during COVID and I'm so glad I did! Went with 3 friends and we all had such a good time. This experience is hard to write a big review on as I don't want to spoil any part of the experience for those going for the first time. One thing that's worth mentioning is that every night is different. When you see the show, your group selects the tricks for the evening so your experience will be totally unique! If you're looking for the sign to buy tickets and go- this is it!! You won't regret it!

If you are in Vancouver for an evening, I highly recommend going to a magic show at Hidden Wonders. Shawn puts on an amazing unscripted magic show where the audience chooses the magic and participates in the show. We had a group of 10 people and had a fantastic time. Shawn is hilarious, has some classic dad jokes, and really does an amazing job of making the show impromptu and interactive. It's a cozy, intimate, up close magic show where you can see every move he makes with his hands. You might be able to figure out a few of his tricks, but the rest will leave you stumped and amazed! Make sure to take a photo in the bath tub! (you'll know it when you see it) It was a great, memorable experience!

Looking for a little mystery, a bit of nostalgia, and a lot of fun? Give yourself a treat and go to Hidden Wonders! Like a Speakeasy of old, you don't know about this place (even where it is!) until "a friend" whispers about it to you. Then they can't stop talking about the unique performance that champion magician Shawn Farquhar did just for them and how they got to tell him what was going to be in the show. Every seat has a great view in the intimate theater setting, but I recommend the VIP experience for the closest look!

Very disappointed. Parlour tricks with too much talking and not enough magic. Way too much self promotion.

Tucked away in a corner of Queen's Park in New Westminster, I had no clue this theatre even existed until a friend promoted the play (and the theatre). There is the main parking area close by, or if you know your way around Queen's Park, you can park in the lanes right next to the theatre. There are just over 100 seats, and as soon as you walk in you will feel the building infused with character and history. (If you had any doubt, the numerous pictures on the wall will give you a hint about the rich history). There is a small lobby area, concession stand, and surprisingly roomy washrooms (a plus!) As I understand it, the concession stand and other roles during play productions are all staffed by volunteers who are members of Vagabond Players. I had never known this theatre existed, but now I will keep an active eye out for future productions.

It is charming and full of history, if only the walls could talk. It reminded me of pantomime plays performed in small town theater in Enid Blyton's books. Being a small place, you can still see the performers clearly even if you are sitting at the back. I hope this place will remain open and be home to performances in the new west area.

The high school lot doubles as venue parking, but the lot is shared with the adjacent skating rink (Moody Arena) outside, and those Moody spots CANNOT be used. Be careful and avoid getting ticketed or towed. As mentioned, this theatre is actually the auditorium of New Westminster Secondary School. The lobby is a school corridor, and they use security fences (similar to those in shopping malls) to keep the masses out of the rest of the school. The auditorium itself is quite beaten up, but I'm sure it has its share of local history. The accoustics are, well, similar to that of a high school auditorium. In other words, amusingly crappy, but expected. Don't expect the likes of the Orpheum or QE Theatre here. My friend and I had a lot of fun at the concert. This venue also seems to host quite a bit of local talent, as one of the performers I watched that evening actually attended this high school. Good to know that there's some nice local entertainment around here. Keeps the kids (and seniors in this case) out of trouble.

The pictures don't lie - there are big red velvet drapes, chandeliers and exotic Moorish/Morroccan touches like columns and murals. Just a damn cool theatre to see a show in, and I've now been to a few, from burlesque shows to my comedy idols like Bruce McCulloch. Upstairs in the smaller, and less lavishly appointed room, is Lafflines, which is a great spot to see up and coming comedians while having a few glasses of sorrow-drowning liquids and a basket of chicken strips. Both upstairs and downstairs have the same basic menu, so if you can deal with Sleemans and nachos, you're laughing. The wine list is OK, and for girl-drink drunks, they've got some sweet throwback martinis. The servers are really nice, but there never seem to be enough of them, so be decisive when they come around, because they might not get back around to you for a while! I've noticed that for some of the shows in the theatre, they'll have maybe two or three working the entire venue. Upstairs, one or two depending on the night (I tend to go on Thursdays for amateur night, so it's not usually very full). For all the fanciness of the decor, it's not at all posh, just a laid-back place to go see a live show. If you don't like fun, well, stay home.

After spending some time getting experience out in the comedy world, her advanced class then helped me get over the next hurdle as a comic: telling stuff that felt really scary and opening myself up to crowdwork and more improvised jokes to better connect with my audience.
