Sarkar perform magic with my late grandpa -- a deeply nostalgic and special feeling. We sat in the couple VIP seats, and the showmanship was exceptional. You can choose what magic will be performed in the show when you seat in these seats. The 75 minutes flew by. The secret location and the unique way you enter make the entire experience feel immersive from the very beginning. Truly one of a kind and a must-visit in New Westminster. The ambience has a flapper-era vibe, perfect for photos. So, definitely dress nicely, as there are great photo opportunities. What a fantastic time at Hidden Wonders! Shawn and his team dazzled the audience. The venue was spectacular. The front of the building has a wonderful presentation/collection of knicknacks. You are brought into the back one group at a time where you may purchase snacks and take pictures (i.e. the famous bathtub). The theatre is small and intimate, and there is truly no bad seat in the house. Shawn was personable, funny, and took the time to try and include every single audience member in some way. My boyfriend purchased tickets for this intimate magic performance well in advance (January for a May show!) and it was WELL WORTH the wait! I love the whole speakeasy vibe and intimate, close proximity setting. We had front row seats and loved the classic tricks and sleight of hand magic as well as the dad jokes (there were a couple PG13 ones thrown in as well!) Yes - for everyone and on repeat! The whole experience is beyond phenomenal! If you have not heard of Shawn Farquhar (which I had not) google him. He has been in the business for a very long time, including tricking Pen & Teller (he will remind you, twice - LOL) and Ellen, plus countless shows! He comes from a long line of magicians and he is KILLING this. The place is located in a neat little area - a speakeasy. Super cool, surrounded by lots of trinkets and old games and memorabilia. The lobby is full of sweet gems and the welcome area where you sign in. When its time, you get a key and must try tons of locks to be able to enter. When you find the right one, you enter the concession area. Snacks include a variety of non alcoholic drinks and chocolates and popcorn (popcorn was amazing). All reasonably priced. They then take you to your seats (the place fits 31 people) and you get to watch as people try the locks. The show is completely different every time. Unique does not even come close to describing. Shawn is engaging and hilarious. He uses so many tactics to create his show and we were amazed the whole time. No matter where you are sitting, he includes you. Its funny, personal, and intimate. He includes the kids and adults and is very appropriate for both. His staff are also incredible. Mentees of his, they add sass and funny bits to the show. I was amazed and laughed the entire show. He than makes space to meet with folks. It was an all around incredible experience. Hands down, don't sit on this! I will be back for sure! read more

I know everyone has rated this guy super High, just telling you my experience. To get into the place was actually kind of interesting and will not spoil that for anyone, thought it was clever and fun. The VIP seats at over 100 is wow...I thought really expensive. My good friend had been to this before and thought it would be fun to take my daughter and I so I said yes sure since she had raved about it. To be honest at over $50 bucks a ticket, I thought, and again this is my experience, I thought he was just ok. I really loved the nostalgic toys and items before you actually went into the event better then the magician himself. He seemed to be struggling with do I want to be a comedian or a magician. He also and again my opinion talked ad nauseam about himself and how great he is. I felt a little less bragging about yourself and show us some magic. Shawn puts on an amazing unscripted magic show where the audience chooses the magic and participates in the show. We had a group of 10 people and had a fantastic time. Shawn is hilarious, has some classic dad jokes, and really does an amazing job of making the show impromptu and interactive. It's a cozy, intimate, up close magic show where you can see every move he makes with his hands. You might be able to figure out a few of his tricks, but the rest will leave you stumped and amazed! I would estimate I've seen 75-100 magic shows in my life, including some very well known magicians like Penn and Teller (multiple times) and David Copperfield. . . This is the best magic show I've ever seen. It's not just the tricks. Just like any actor can read a scene, any magician can perform a trick. Saw the late show on Saturday, March 8th. Great venue, and no sign of trickery. Honestly, it's got to be magic! Truth is we figured out two of the things he'd done as we talked it through on our way home after the show, but it was nonetheless outstanding. Shawn is super-personable, and moves from one thing to the next without any sign of hesitation. If you want to be part of the show, get tickets for the front row, but there's no bad seat in the house. You can see everything from anywhere in the small venue.
