My mother and I enjoyed a lovely evening walk at the waterfront park. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed the views. It made for great photos. The boardwalk was clean and safe

    Incredible Sunsets from here.

You can't visit Burlington Vermont without going to Waterfront Park (WP). That is like going to NYC for the first time and not going to Central Park. It's so relaxing at WP. They have a walking path, a bike path, and comfortable swinging benches that face the Lake. We were so exhausted after traveling to Burlington from Los Angeles that we sat on the swinging benches and fell asleep. WP has the most incredible sunsets. On the Lake they have boats you can buy a ticket and they will take you on a boat tour, or dinner on the boat, or a sunset boat cruise. Seemed like a relatively safe area and if you walk a few blocks opposite the Lake you will come to an area with lots of restaurants. There are also some dining spots adjacent to WP. Lining the street closest to WP are expensive hotel. There is parking there--not sure the cost because we walked it over a few blocks from the City 2 hour Free Lot to WP.

On Saturday, took a walk down near the water which was very close to our hotel. Nice area which would have been nicer during regular life with boating and ferries going - both of which are currently shut down due to Covid. There is plenty of room to lie down, throw a football or play a pikc up game, or just read a book and take some time away. I can see this being very crowded during normalcy, and with parking down near the area at only $5, why wouldn't it be. There are park benches, as well as the opportunity to walk right into the water from the rocks, or walk up and down the coast. There is also some small food places and "food type trucks" as well as a building that has souvenirs and other items as well.

Couple enjoying the view on a beautiful Vermont day (late spring/early summer).

This is one of my favorite places in the area! I grew up on the ocean and appreciated having the beautiful lake Champlain near by, when I first moved to Vermont. I have many great memories here!

    Amazing place to watch sunsets!

Coming to this spot on the waterfront in Burlington always makes me so happy, especially on a warm summer night. It's such a zen place to chill out. Grab a bench if you can and admire all of the natural beauty that is Vermont. Watch the boats sail by on the lake and gaze at the beautiful High Peaks in New York's Adirondacks. If you love to cycle, you can pick up the bike trail here. It's nice to do the 2 mile walk down to North Beach Park as well. The absolute best time to come here is at sunset. Make the stroll downhill from nearby Church Street about twenty minutes before the sun goes down and prepare to be in awe. If you want to take it up a notch, I recommend having a drink at nearby Splash at the Boathouse. It's over priced, but you will get a row A view of the stunning lake. I'm usually someone that prefers to be by the ocean, but Lake Champlain and the mountains dazzle me every time.

A great area to visit all year round. My 1st visit was on Novermber 2016. And I cannot wait to go back to this adorable Vermont city on Lake Champlain. Senator Bernie Sanders was no where in site, unfortunately...this is his home. However the locals are friendly, there are plenty of easy parking lots to access within minutes of the water's edge for all sorts of activities year round. I just stretched my legs after my drive down from Montreal and loved how everything was so clean and relaxing. The park benches are perfectly spaced, the views are nice, but they lack any close food options in this immediate area, like food trucks. Perhaps in the warmer months there are more options, didn't see anything in the late Fall season. Overall, it's a great park to check out when in this area of Vermont. Burlington packs alot of small town charm and sophistication, so be sure to visit when you can. Oh yeah.

Beautiful area! Water is so clear and it's quiets so you can read on the grass or the handy swings around! Good place for a date night stroll or to take kids to see the mountains of New York!

This is a place to go to when thinking of going on vacation. This is a place you can take your kids and fam to during the summer especially. There are seats near by so you can sit down and watch the view of the waterfront.

Love the time with the children, so much to do, boat rides, walk along the boardwalk, echo center, skip rocks, board the Ethan Allen for a dinner cruise. My favorite is to get creamees and walk around the boardwalk dipping your feet in the water. A great way to spend the evening followed up with dinner at splash!

The waterfront area in Burlington is beautiful. The park grass is well kept, no trash anywhere, and it has some food options. Downtown Burlington has 3 hour parking meters with an app you can download to keep adding money. The paths are smooth and good for biking, walking, and skateboarding. It's worth a visit to see the lake Champlain and a different view of the small city.

I love the ratio of equipment for the age of my kids--plenty of baby/toddler swings and slides. Also little rocking ride on equipment. The only thing that could make it a little better for us would be a swing for special needs kids as my older daughter can't sit safely in a regular swing due to her needs. But we make do with what is there very nicely :) The grounds are super well kept and part of a larger park which includes a baseball and soccer (I think) field. I am kind of obsessed with the beautiful flower garden that they have in the parking lot. I would love to be able to steal their gardener for a day to help me make something similar. There is a pool as well with a waterslide. We've never actually used the pool but it very popular and always crowded. There is also a skate park for older kids which is really cool. At least it looks cool--I don't know the first think about skateboarding. I am always impressed by how respectful the skaters seem to be about safety rules. It looks like a lot of fun. Anyhow, this is a really nice park with great shade on hot days. There are always lots of super friendly people there to chat with as well.

Ausable Chasm, NY - billing itself as "the Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks" is a shamelessly…read moreambitious boast for an attraction that I'd more accurately describe as Watkins Glen with the consumer interface of Bushkill Falls, but there's no denying Ausable Chasm is a fun, scenic, and daring adventure for all ages! We came during the off season at the end of April, before the more high thrills activities like rafting & tubing, riverwalk, Via Ferrata adventure trail, rappelling, rock climbing, etc. were open for the season (usually around late-May to June through autumn). That was no problem as we are visiting with our toddler who isn't old enough to do most of these activities anyway, and, as we discovered, it was actually perfect and to our advantage, since as first-time visitors we only wanted/had time to explore the chasm itself. And as there were very few other visitors on a weekday, it was as if we had this private park all to ourselves! No need to jostle for views/photos, can enjoy lunch & snacks at the best picnic tables by vista points, and it's also more pleasant than hiking in hot summer, though many of the trails are shaded. The basic "trails only" admission is about $20 for adults & teens, $12 for kids 5-12, and free for under 5. All the other activities have additional fees, which can add up so you might explore packages, or even stay overnight at their campground & cabins. We are a family of hikers so wanted to do the whole perimeter and see the entire gorge (about 2 miles). But if you only wish to see the exciting parts and leave time for other activities, then you can turn back halfway and do the shorter loop (1 mile if you do the Inner Sanctum Trail which I 100% recommend as this is the "signature" trail along the canyon's edge. But note it has many stairs up & down). We took the Inner Sanctum (yellow) trail, crossed over to Big Dry Chasm and hiked to the Whirlpool Basin Overlook at other end, then looped back around on the orange trail via Little Dry Chasm. The trails are well maintained, with most of the outer edge trails on comfortable soft padded ground. They're mostly well marked except the end part is not really shown clearly on the park map so I used AllTrails. The orange trail (Dry Chasm Trail) is marked as more difficult, but it's basically just a regular wooded hiking trail that's not paved, with rooty and rocky sections. The park is very walkable for most able-bodied people. Even our 3yo was able to hike the whole thing by himself, with a bit of help over the orange trails. We loved our visit and are excited to come back when our child is older to do more activities! Will update my review when we've had a chance to experience all the action-packed adventures the park has to offer. TIP #1: No trail maps are given out so take a photo ar a screenshot. But there are maps placed along the trails marked with where you are. TIP #2: Porta-potties only on either end of the trails, so I recommend taking your nature break before setting out. TIP #3: There's a cafe by the Welcome Center but it's only open seasonally. Bring water. No garbage bins along the trails (cos bears!) so trash is carry-in carry-out.
