Red Rocks Park - Lake Champlain - Parks Near Me - South Burlington, Vermont

I spent about an hour enjoying the Red Rocks Park trails today because of all the nature around us. During my trip on the trails, I saw multiple beautiful cliff views of the water. One of the other good perks is the parking is free. My favourite part about the trip I had here is the beach because it looked so pretty. I also thank all the staff for keeping the park clean always. For the reasons I have stated in this review, I recommend you visit this park. read more

VERY icy this time of year. Otherwise, a good area. Lots of dogs off leash. That's definitely something to think about if you have small children or pets that are not friendly. All in all, 4/5. I would definitely do it again. read more

Red Rocks Parks is a beautiful park that brings back so many memories. The hike up to the top is short and gives you a great view of the water. As kids, we would hike to the top and cliff jump into the cold water. Red Rocks was a popular place for groups of friends to meet, hang out, and go cliff jumping. There was one cliff that was particularly 76 feet high, it was dangerous and jutted over a tree. We could see the bottom of the water from that cliff and wouldn't cliff jump off of that one. There was another cliff that was a 20 foot straight drop, safe and let you splash into the cold water. This cliff was my favorite. There was also the 40 foot cliff but that jump was often painful when the water hit your body. I didn't jump off that one often. I would advise you to come by and enjoy the fresh air, the short hike and beautiful views. If you do come and cliff jump, be careful, use your common sense and make sure you know how to swim! read more

I'm so surprised that this park doesn't have more reviews. It's beautiful! I came here in the fall and walking the trails with all the leaves falling or already on the ground was very nice. Its perfect for the family and is dog friendly (please leash them). There's nice views and its an easy short hike. Would recommend :-) read more

Short brisk walk around a wonderful part of Vermont! It's not really a hike, but it's a leisurely walk that takes you through some parts of the woods and by the lake. If you go on the right days at the right times (early morning or closer to sunset), the views are absolutely gorgeous and breathtaking! A highly recommend stroll for anyone that has 30 minutes to an hour of their day they need to kill. I can only imagine what this place would look like in the peak of the fall semester when the leaves are all changing colors or beginning of winter when the snow has just fallen. I can't wait to keep this place bookmarked and a secret for when I go back next year! Great place to walk your dog, saw a lot of families here as well, and a nice escape from the monotony of life. read more

These well maintained trails wander all through the woods, with viewing points and benches that overlook Lake Champlain. The trails are not marked but, if you don't fret it and don't sweat it, you'll find your way back to the beginning. Enjoy the smell of cedar trees, the views on to the lake, the colors of the red/pink/flesh-toned rocks, the shade, and the exercise so close to Burlington. read more

Our pup loves Red Rocks -- so much so that we have to have a code name for it so she doesn't think we're going every time we mention it! Trail is well kept, easy terrain, and great for walking. It was VERY icy last winter, so be aware of that if considering a winter stroll. Great views of the water and quite dog-friendly. Definitely recommend! Clean, quieter than Oakledge and great for walking/running. No bikes on the trails but I'm there for running. The trails, for running, are moderately challenging. In the fall, with wet leaves on the ground they become very challenging for a fairly new runner, so be aware of that. LOTS of dogs...however that's a good thing for me....but the dogs always seem really well behaved so even if you're scared there's really nothing to worry about. Most people leash their dogs but not everyone. And for as many dogs as I've seen there (20+/run usually) I've never stepped in any nasties...people seems to really care about this place and keep it clean. The beach area isn't nearly as crowded as Oakledge and parking is cheaper in the summer. I don't know if there's any BBQ areas with grills but there are a few seats and a shack with a bathroom. I've never been inside, but I've been inside othere park facilities and I'm guessing this one is no different. This is my go-to-place for running. Just don't mind the strange industrial park you go through to get here. read more

We love red rocks so much! Long walks in the woods with our 4 legged son. Only thing we don't like is all the other doggies not on their leashes as per the signs. Love the cool hollow tree with random pocket stuff people out there. Nice views of the lake from the rocks. Beautiful park. read more

This is my favorite park in Burlington. It's actually fairly large, lots of peking, and lots of free space. It's right on the water and there's even a nice little beach to hang out on. Most importantly for me though, it's the perfect place to watch the sunset over the mountain range. You can walk along the rocks out into the water a bit and have a perfect view of the lake and the mountains as the sun sets behind them. read more

Beautiful park with dirt/pine needle/gravel paths, rocky/boulder shoreline, great views and there's access for a swim. I walked most of the trails (I think) and it totaled 5 miles. Easy parking. read more
