I've been a client at Waterfalls for years and wouldn't think of going elsewhere. Several years ago I had some back issues that were aggravated by long car trips. I started planning visits to Sara D at Waterfalls for a massage before every trip to Maine to visit my college son. She did such a great job that I was able to make the trip without stopping every hour to get out for a 10 minute stretch and walk (no exaggeration). I no longer have the back problems, but still see Sara several times a year. On to the feet...I began training for a marathon a few years back and was having major issues with my feet. (Go figure). I joined their fall Pedi Club with special monthly deals for pedicures. I am NOT a foot person, I am NOT a fancy "Paint my nails" person - but that's part of the pedi. A friend joined the Pedi Club as well and it was SO much fun to catch up with her once a month with our dual pedis. I credit Barb and Laurie with keeping my feet healthy for six months of training - and a welcome celebration of finishing the marathon. I see several reviews complain about prices. Really? I think a lot of times you get what you pay for and that is the case at Waterfalls. Just walking in the door at the spa causes me to begin to de-stress, and that's before I've even spent a dime. I won't forget the day last year when I had had a horrible day and my pedicure was scheduled for the end of it all. I went it with the attitude of, "Ok, lets just get this over with, I am busy, I have so much to do, and so much to think about." I was met at the door by Laurie, who had a glass of wine waiting for me. What better service can a stressed girl ask for? My attitude changed, I was able to thorougly relax. I had never had a massage prior to my first visit here, so I don't have a lot to compare to; but I will say that it's been a pleasant experience every time and I won't go anywhere else. Prior to my first visit, I always felt that a massage was for soft people with too much money, lol. My wife recommended coming here after I tweaked my back moving a garden tractor; it was late in the week and there was probably no chance I'd see a doctor and PT prior to the weekend (a weekend where I was already committed to cutting a bunch of firewood). My back was all knotted up and it caused additional knots as I was compensating since I couldn't really move right. When I arrived that first time, the lights were dim, the massage bed was nice and warm and there was soft music playing - I started feeling as if it may have been a little 'foofoo' for a guy like me and that listening to my wife may have been a mistake. But, after Sara was done with the massage, my back felt 1000x better. I then understood why people get massages and how much better you feel after one. The staff here goes above and beyond in making you feel welcome and comfortable. I've been to this place a few times since and the massages have been great every time. Most times it's for a bull's-eye massage for part of my back - usually after I've lifted or moved something I probably shouldn't have. I may not learn the limitations on what I can do or lift or carry, but I definitely know where to go when I've got a sore back from it. For anyone who's got a knot or sore muscles or just needs to relax, I'd definitely recommend a visit here. read more

In reading the negative reviews, I feel compelled to add my two cents. I've been a client at Waterfalls for almost five years now. I try to get a facial from Laurie every 4 to 6 weeks. I have had lots of facials over the years but Laurie is consistently among the best - she's friendly, caring, knowledgeable, innovative and keeps track of your skin to make you look and feel amazing. Sara and Laurie (the co-owners) direct their enormous energies to making sure their clients receive top quality products and friendly and attentive service from wonderful staff. (Sara also happens to be a great massage therapist.) They come up with fun promotions (e.g., PediClub, a discounted pedicure every month in the fall and winter) and also offer a discount to return customers. I don't think the prices are unreasonable for what you get -- a high quality hotel spa experience-- and they make every effort to keep people coming back. If you're used to a city where there are nail salons everywhere, the prices might seem high "for small town Vermont", but this is an entirely different, personalized and pampering experience. Waterfalls Day Spa is a gem hidden in the historic The Middlebury Inn. I found it by chance in the summer of 2008. I was unable to sleep at night because of a piercing pain in my shoulder. I had been seeing multiple other masseurs in the area but this pain was persistent - I had become convinced that it was permanent. After 3 visits with Sara Daly for a therapeutic massage and I was HEALED! I can't express how grateful I am. Being from Hawaii and having the opportunity to travel I've been to many spas/day spas and Waterfalls is one that I prefer and would recommend. This is my go-to spot for facials and pedicures. If I wasn't a nail biter I'd be enjoying the manicures as well. The value of the treatments are reasonable starting with $40 manicures, $60 pedicures, and $85 massages and facials. There are other places around Middlebury that these services are available for less money, but the customer service and the natural talent that lives in the heart of Waterfalls Day Spa makes it worth the trip. read more

I have been a client at Waterfalls for several years now and think the utmost of the business and services that is offered there. The spa itself is truly and oasis and the attention to detail is so thorough. The women who work there are professional, experienced and understand what each client wants. In addition, I really feel like the Spa responds to the needs and wants of their clients - they are always asking for input and trying to meet their clients needs. Waterfalls continues to be a generous supporter for community events in the Community as well, which is important in a small town. I would and DO absolutely recommend Waterfalls Day Spa to anyone in town, visiting town, passing through town, or living nearby town! read more

I have been going to Waterfalls Day Spa for almost 2 years now. I have always found the service to be fantastic. The facility clean and the prices fair. It isn't really fair to only visit a place once and complain online and never return. I have purchased many gift cards for friends who have also enjoyed themselves and had nothing but a wonderful experience. Excellent care with professional providers. I have had pedicure, massage and facial at the spa. I would go every week f I lived closer. The atmosphere is so relaxing. The prices are what I find in the Northeast and better than some hotel spas. read more

Ridiculously expensive pedicure. $60! Personnel are very nice but whoever is in charge of pricing should re-examine their costs. I will not be returning no matter how convenient the location! read more
