I think many have said something around the realm of that this little gem is such an oddity in such a metropolitan city. In all the hustle and bustle, buses whizzing by, bicyclists, horns beeping, traffic, construction, the homeless.....there is a small venue of solace and serenity where you can sit down and munch on a sandwich or a gyro from nearby or chat with a friend with the sound of the water falling nearby to drown out the visual and audible noise surrounding you. There are also smaller water sculptures around that help offset the main attraction of the main falls, but they are equally as interesting artistically and help enhance the feng shui of the garden. This is a beautiful addition to this city. I will definitely be back or visit it sometime while in the big city. Just simply beautiful. Oh...and it's free. Sooooooo why haven't you visited yet? read more

Don't go chasing waterfalls....this wasn't what it looks like. My friend and I were expecting a park or a little museum for her 2 year old daughter to play around but it was really a man made waterfall with some seating. Definitely not a bad spot to have your lunch, catch up with some friends, take a break, or get some work done on your own but it isn't a monumental tourist site. We did enjoy being able to take a break from a full day here. This area is gated and has a closing time. There's a security guard on site so no funny business people! read more

Charming hideaway enclosure with a lovely waterfall and tables to bring your coffee, bagged lunch and a good book. There is something about splashing water and lovely shade trees that forces you to let out a big sigh. A welcome stop after being on your feet too long. All I ask is....don't be loud and don't bring rowdy kids. Respect is what it is all about. read more

Waterfall Garden - A small but pleasant enclosed garden open to the public. Eat your lunch there. - Parks Near Me - Seattle, Washington

So serene and relaxing! Waterfall Garden was the water feature part of our Seattle trip and was just... like breathing a sigh of relief. It boasted two smaller waterfall fountains (which the honey fell in love with) and one very large full corner two wall waterfall. I sat down at the plentiful little tables and relaxed enjoying the sound of rushing water. Waterfall Garden is a definite must see in Seattle and was right down the way from Smith Tower. The area isn't great and right now seemed to be going through some construction, but our stop was enjoyable and cost-effective (ie, free) which are both things we love when seeing a new state. All in all, we loved our stop into this little corner of heaven! read more

One of my favorite spots in Seattle ;) I had bookmarked this place on Yelp and forgot about it since we had much to see. But we did end up running into this place when I heard rushing water across the street from us. Tourists and locals alike were there. There were some locals whom were sitting in one of the tables to eat their lunch. Amidst the tourist chaos, I would have found it difficult to enjoy the waterfall. Take pictures or just stare at the water, or kiss. Lovely place indeed. read more

Very cute man made waterfall. Quaint. Seating around to relax, eat some food, have a drink. Very shaded

Definitely a sight to see however the park is small and there is not much else to do here. It is a cool little quiet place in the middle of the busy city where you can stop by to have a lunch on one of their picnic tables. Its an interesting location for this park. read more

What an awesome place to visit. The space is fairly small, but man..a man made waterfall in the middle of the city you know it's a must see. There's a parking lot next to the venue where you pay or just park and take a few shots really quickly then leave. read more

Nice zen waterfall and garden marking the spot where UPS began. It was of particular interest to my husband since he worked for them for 30 years. You are welcome to sit as long as you like (sun or shade) and enjoy the waterfall and flora. 3.5 stars. I have this thing for chasing waterfalls during my vacations. Because I couldn't go to snoqualmie falls, my boyfriend and I settled for waterfall garden. Really small place. Man made waterfall that smelled like sewage at times. It wasn't something that took my breath away but it's a place to check out of you're in the area. I probably stayed for 5 minutes max taking pictures of the waterfall. Tables and seats for people to sit and enjoy the waterfall but I wouldn't do it unless you like the smell of standing water on you. read more

This little waterfall garden in the middle of the city is really neat. I've been to Seattle about half a dozen times and had never been here or seen it. This time hubs and I were trying to do some things we'd never done before and decided to hunt this down by Pioneer Square since it was only about a 15 minute walk from our hotel by Pike Place Market. It was easy enough to find - though we did get turned around on a few of the wonky streets once we got close. It is small and serene and has some seating around it. It is what you'd expect - a very small waterfall garden with greenery sandwiched in-between small buildings with sunlight streaming through were it can. Very charming. I could see enjoying a lunch break or some zen relaxation time if I ever came back here again - it closes promptly at the time posted daily and there is a security guard who will walk around kicking everyone out and shutting the gate (he did that to us and several others) so if you want to see it I suggest you show up prior to the posted closing.... there is no leeway. If you are nearby or already in downtown - it is worth seeing - but I would NOT make a special trip just to see it. It's very small. read more

A very pretty park set in the middle of Seattle, this place kind of reminded me of going into Diagon Alley in Universal. You're in the city, and then suddenly, you're in this small, pleasant park tucked behind some walls that is dedicated as the birthplace of UPS. A plaque reads "Celebrating 100 Years of Service August 28, 2007 To celebrate the 100th anniversary of UPS, employees gathered here at the company's birthplace to honor, celebrate and reaffirm UPS'S commitment to serving communities around the world." You'll find wrought iron chairs and tables set amongst flower pots and blooming trees, making this an ideal spot to sit while eating lunch, reading a book, or just if you need a bit of a breather away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are several levels to sit on, each artfully facing the waterfall for optimum viewing. I will also say that they really do a good job keeping this area clean, so please do your part in that as well. :) read more

This is a cute, little park in Pioneer Square, located not far from the Gold Rush museum. I came upon totally accidentally and randomly. This little Waterfall Park has sections where you can just sit an admire the waterfall, there is a walkway that goes directly up to the waterfall as well. It's a nice, tranquil little distraction while you are out and about. Sometimes the place has oddballs roaming around in there and sometimes you smell pee or sewage but hey...block it all out and look at the pretty waterfall! read more

Beautiful Little Secret in Pioneer Square... I found the Waterfall Garden by accident. I was wandering around the neighbor, heard the splashing water and was intrigued. It was cloudy when I was visiting, but I imagine that this would be a nice place to take a break or eat lunch on a warm day. But even on a cloudy day it was lovely and relaxing. It has two levels -- an upper terrace, protected by a transparent trellis roof, and a lower area, open to the sky, that features a 22-foot-high waterfall flowing over granite boulders. The waterfall creates a feeling of being in a forest rather than a major city. Trees and shrubs contribute to that ambiance and large concrete planters feature seasonal flowers. The ramps make it accessible to disabled individuals. The park has a security guard on site during its opening hours (8 a.m - 5:30 p.m.). I suggest visiting either late morning or after lunchtime, as people who work in the area like to use Waterfall Garden Park to enjoy their own lunches, taking up all of the tables. Be sure to avoid visiting Waterfall Garden Park when there is a Sounders, Seahawks or Mariners games, or any other major event at the stadiums (charity walks/runs are popular on summer weekends!) - parking will be hard to find! Families who need parks with a lot of bells and whistles, Waterfall Garden Park probably isn't for you. Visiting this hidden gem is more about the novelty of the experience - a full-blown waterfall sanctuary in the middle of the bustling city - than a day of non-stop engagement for your kids. But, that doesn't mean that you won't have fun here! Use a trip to Waterfall Garden to actually sit down, in a gorgeous, serene-setting that didn't take you two-hours to get to, and talk to you kiddos, catch up as a family and just enjoy some quality time together. There are plenty of little cafes and bistros in the blocks around Waterfall Garden Park where you can grab a quick lunch, but if you're visiting over the lunch hour, I suggest packing your favorites into the park and enjoying it while you visit! You'll most likely need to pay to park, unless you head to Waterfall Garden on Sunday when street parking is free! There is no admission fee to enter the park. It is in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle and very small, but the sound of the waterfall and the greenery makes it a wonderful retreat. Worth stopping by if you are in the area. I spent a few hours studying here the other day. It's a pretty nice place to step out of the hustle and bustle of the city and feel like you're in a whole new place...that is until a siren wails by. The waterfall is nice and only smells slightly of chlorine. The park was pretty clean and well maintained. Some of the table tops were dirty, but nothing a wipe with a napkin couldn't clean off. As a UPS employee, it was worth the quick side trip and parking spot hunt to check out this waterfall garden. For those who don't know, this was the birth place of UPS. Or more accurately, this is where Jim Casey founded American Messenger Service in 1907. The waterfall itself is quite impressive for the size of the garden. We stopped in for a few minutes and snapped a few pictures. It's certainly not somewhere a non-UPSer needs to seek out. But if you're in the area, it's worth a peek. read more

We discovered this place on an urban scavenger hunt and fell in love with the serenity of the place in the middle of the bustling city. There is a small placard at the entrance gates that give a little history about the garden but it's easily missed if you're not looking for it. If I worked downtown I would definitely come here on my breaks for some peace and relaxation. Kudos to those who manage the upkeep of this garden park - it is well maintained and ADA accessible. read more

There's probably two types of rewards from visiting Waterfall Garden. One is the initial self-congratulation that you were able to find it. The garden is actually fairly stealthy for an urban green spot. With the outer brownish wall, you almost don't even notice it even walking by. It's only if you happen to look inside through the doorway.... Two is the relaxation from a calming stream merely steps away from the sidewalk. Delivered by UPS to commemorate their first site, the Garden is a small enclosed street corner complete with a waterfall and several tables and chairs. On a late spring day, it's noticeably cooler inside and the park is partially exempt from the sunlight. With the slight roar from the waterfall and the enclosed space, it's difficult to hear the street traffic; it really is a place which can transport you away from the bustle of the city. Even if only for a few moments. Admission is free and the Garden closes in the mid-afternoon. read more

How did I not find this sooner!!?? This small little park is hidden inside a brick open building and is beautiful. The park is a bit of a hidden garden. Although the signage for the place is large and recognizable, one who's completely oblivious to it would not even think it's a garden/mini park. This place is a perfect getaway and time-to-relax place. Even though I did not get to go in, hence the 3 stars, I can tell it's perfect for relaxing looking through the iron rod fence. That's why I regret not making it in time!!! The hours (currently) posted on here are wrong. It closes at 345p and NOT 530p. I think I'll switch out the time after I write this review as I would hate for a fellow Yelper to miss out on this quaint park. Btw I went here on June 21, 2013, a Friday so there's a possibility that the park didn't/doesn't start its summer hours until after June 22/summer solstice. Either way: boooo. So my other following tip: arrive before 330p. read more

This park is truly a hidden gem. I had no idea it existed until I was walking around Pioneer Square one morning and stumbled upon it. There's a big wall that blocks the park along the side of the street, but there are spaces between the medians of the wall where you can peak inside, and find that it's a park! I walked inside and there were a few people gazing at the waterfall and others sitting at the bistro tables and chairs set out for the public. It's not large by any means, but what's special about this park is that it's located right in the middle of Pioneer Square where so many people pass by. Natural and green space in an urban setting instantly makes me a fan. The waterfall is not huge either, and you can see that this park is sandwiched between a tall building, above the waterfall, but it does bring a calmness to all who visit; hence, the point of this park. I imagine this place get busy during the work hours on sunny days because how could you not eat your take-out here? Plus, you have to take advantage of the seating here. This park is a great reminder that even in the hustle and bustle of the city, we must all embrace our greenery and spend more time outdoors. Glad to have this place in such an urban setting. read more

One of the things I love about Seattle are the gems like the Waterfall Garden. I work in the business district and love to walk down to Pioneer Square during long lunches. My friend works in Pioneer Square and one day, we grabbed a sandwich and headed over. I asked him where we were going and he said just a place to sit and eat. Just a place to sit and eat??? There are tables, chairs, and *gasp* a waterfall. The sound of the water as we sat and talked kept distracting me. There's something about waterfalls that remind me of living in Hawaii and being close to nature. It brings a serenity that I can't really put into words. Since that visit, I've been there a bunch of times by myself and with others. My coolest visit was when it was very cold and ice had frozen around the rails and part of the waterfall. Sometimes you'll catch a seagull or two bathing in the water. Be aware - there is no bathroom there. There's also a guard posted inside but honestly, I haven't figured out why he's there. Regardless, this is a solid lunch spot. read more

Don't blink - you might miss it. This little out-of-the way spot in downtown Seattle, not far from Pioneer Square, has been one of my favourite places to sit down, relax, and find my serenity since I first found it, years ago. It really is easy to miss - a walled space that heralds itself as "the birthplace of UPS" on signs outside its gates hardly seems like the place to find water cascading down over rocks into a small pool, surrounded by several small tables and chairs and benches to sit. And yet, there it is - walk into the shaded area and there's trees and growing things and lots of places to just sit and enjoy the ambience of flowing water and muted sunlight. Get a coffee at nearby Zeitgeist, or a sandwich from Grand Central Bakery...then bring it here and enjoy it fully, away from the noises and crowds and hustle of the city. It's even a wonderful place to get married - open to the public yet secluded and intimate. Take a break, take some time, and enjoy one of the few truly quiet and peaceful spots in Seattle - a haven in the very heart of the city. read more

I've always wanted to come to this garden but was never in the area. To my surprise as I was walking around aimlessly, I heard the roar of loud water. My first thought was wtf is this noise and I immediately set out to find it. As I walked into the garden The first thing I smelled was the aroma of flowers followed by the overwhelming smell of chlorine, it was a weird combo. The garden itself was a lot smaller then I thought it would be but after standing up close to the water I was mesmerized. So beautiful and relaxing! I walked from Pike's place over to the Pioneer area and knew I wanted to stop by. What's great is that the city sounds outside gets completely drowned out by the sound of water falling on the rocks. If you look above the waterfall high enough, you see buildings all around, which is quite a strange sight, and very unexpected in the middle of the city.
