Sail San Juan Bay - Cruise ships in port

Sail San Juan Bay

What an amazing sunset and sail in San Juan Bay and out to El Morro. Even as residents of Puerto…read moreRico, the view from the bay of these landmarks made it even more impressive. Captain William and First Mate were amazing. We took some Beverages and charcuterie and he prepared and served us. Thank you !! Recommend 5 stars.

Hubs & I had gone sailing several times both with friends and on excursions before and were prepared for the wind and the spray, and most of all, I was excited for the heeling (hubs less so... but he loves me -- this was more in my wheelhouse than his). I admit, based on previous paid experiences I somewhat expected to have the option of handling the ropes to help with adjusting the sails, of course with appropriate guidance. In this case, that was a hard no; we were not to touch anything, "for safety". We got some commentary on the history of the island and it's fortresses - nice, but in my specific case take it or leave it (because we'd already been to Castillo San Cristobal). I preferred El Capitan talking with us and the other couple about where we were staying and what foodie priorities to get to during our stay. And God put on a sunset show for us, and it was neat to see the other ships in the bay -- from cargo ferries to private yachts to sailboats from all over to a pair of cruise ships in Port. Now I said I'd talk on our communication snafu with the owner -- with our booking there were pretty specific instructions on where to park and where to go. Which we endeavored to follow when we arrived, early, bearing in mind the "if you're late we leave without you, no refunds" cautionary language. We messaged that we were there, that we knew we were early, and where we were, by the gatehouse as instructed. Guard brought us in to where they said we would be met by the team from Sail San Juan Bay, and by then we had a conflicting location message. As we tried to follow orders, we received another message sending us back towards where we had been. I was put off by it, and all the more in contrast to another excursion I did the next day with incredibly clear info and texts to the entire group including the person actually taking point on the group, even though the meeting point was similarly at a public unmanned location. So yeah, 100% go on the sailboat, and enjoy the time on the bay... but follow initial instructions and if you can avoid contact with the owner, do so.

My father in law who is over 70 yrs of age suggested that we go on this tour as a family. I'm…read moreoriginally from Puerto Rico and have traveled here many times but had never heard of this tour so I was a bit skeptical when he suggested it. I checked out the Facebook reviews and since my kids love to dance I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I can't say enough about what a wonderful experience this was. This is a essentially a night club on a boat that takes you around San Juan bay for an hour. As you're walking towards the boat you can't help but to get all excited because of all the lights and music. Once on board you can select between dancing on the upper or lower level. We choose the upper level because we wanted to feel the sea breeze as we danced. Once you settle in prepare to dance non stop for the whole tour. It was amazing to be dancing with people of all ages. I suggest getting on board about 20-30 minutes early so that you can get a few minutes of extra dancing time. The cost is 15.00 per person for locals and 20.00 for tourists. If you're a dancer you'll get your monies worth but if you're not, you'll have a good time by checking out the sights and all of the people on the dance floor. If you're in Puerto Rico, this is a must do.

CLOSED FOR BUSINESS…read more before this, we hadn't been able to make it. First time we tried summer 2017 we bought tickets and about ten minutes before setting out, they called us to get a refund because they didn't have enough people to make it worth their while They're closed now. They may RE open for business after June
