This has the opportunity to be a lot more. There were a few things that happened that really impacted our experience with EGB. I wouldn't do it again. You still may have a great time. It is a fairly priced experience that includes good food, drinks, and is ultimately a great day not at the office. The positives are all over the reviews. My picture is from the charter even. Let's talk about what happened to detract from our experience. Captain Dan drank openly and had at least two Medalla cans of beers on the way back into port. This is unacceptable on a paid charter. Really big deal. I'm not sure what the laws are on this but my pilot, Cab driver, bus driver, doctor, and anyone else responsible for the well being of others can wait to drink after hours. Captain Dan started the charter with a quick argument with Charlie. He used the explicit and profane language quite loudly without apologies. The first stop was supposed to be 150 minutes but was only 70 minutes including the meal; so no beach time. The whole charter ended at 3:30 which was an hour short. The snorkel mask had a poor seal which allowed water into the mask. No legit snorkel vests also. The stops were really choppy. This was not snorkeling for a beginner. I can't imagine anyone doing these stops with no experience. There were strong currents near big rocks. The ladder on back was challenging with as much bobbing as the ship did on stop 2. I can imagine older folks having a really hard time. He can't control water but can pick stops accordingly. The commentary was really poor. We learned about the boat, his business plans, and his thoughts on politicians. Information on sailing, the ecology, the reef, or even the history of Puerto Rico wasn't there. I can't tell you the name of the islands, boats, currents, or anything like that. No sailing chart was shown. I can tell that Four Seasons and Disney are interested in investing in the West coast and some things about the US Treasury. The bathroom sink has not worked since at least a month. He made an announcement about it. I was able to glean this from a few TripAdvisor references. So food prep and guest hand washing happens in the same sink. Get the folks some hand sanitizer. They do a great job on prepping for motion sickness because it will be a ride against the currents with some choppy waters. I'm surprised I didn't get it. I had a good time because I was on vacation and on a boat with great weather. Charlie was great, too. The marina was amazing and there was even a shower facility. I had the most amazing time with Captain Dan and Ingrid. We got to the boat earlier than our scheduled time (thanks to a driver they recommended), and they were kind enough to let our adventure start early. We stopped to admire a ship that is going to be used in the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie before heading out to the open water. Ingrid and Dan were more than accommodating. They even let a few who wanted to sail the boat take the helm. One was a born natural. We got to our main snorkel site where we were told we would have about 1.5 - 2 hours to enjoy the water before lunch would be ready. For those of us who had not snorkeled before, he took his time to explain how to put on the mask and how to use the snorkel. He made sure we were all outfitted with the appropriate size flippers as well. He made sure we all had swim buddies and told us what kind of sea life we'd see in the area. The lunch they provided was amazing and plentiful. (I LOVED the mango salsa). Drinks were plenty (water, soda, beer, and RUM PUNCH!) Ingrid also brought out some fruits and banana bread for snacks later in the day. We were given the option of what we'd like to do next, more sailing or more snorkeling. We ended up on a little sand island with even more clear water. The day just kept getting better and better. When we got back to the marina, Ingrid called our driver to pick us up, and provided us a key to the shower to get rinsed off. All 6 of us girls had a great time. I look forward to going back to Puerto Rico and taking on a new adventure. This is much more exciting and relaxing than one of those over priced catamaran tour boats. read more

I spent a week in Puerto Rico with two of my friends celebrating their birthdays. We were interested in visiting either Culebra or Vieques, and thought a charter boat might be better than the ferry. After surveying several options, we ended up going with Erin Go Bragh, since we decided we wanted a smaller, more private experience over visiting one of the islands in a larger boat. In hindsight, that was absolutely the right choice for us. Erin Go Bragh actually has two boats (each have ~6 passenger capacity, plus 2 crew), which we found out about when we were asked to switch to the second boat to accommodate a wedding party. I'm really glad we agreed to switching, because it meant that we ended up with Captain Hector and First Mate Arturo, who both made the trip for us. They were fantastic, super chill guys who really went out of their way to take care of us. I would barely notice I had finished my drink before one of them would ask me if I wanted a refill, and the lunch that they cooked on a clip-on grill was surprisingly good given the setup. I had been a little worried that spending a few hours on a small boat with strangers would be a little awkward, but the crew was charming and the couple on the boat with us were very friendly. Something else to consider if you're also deciding between a larger motorized boat and a smaller sailing boat--one of the highlights of the trip was lazing around in the sun on the boat while we sailed between snorkel locations. I don't think I would've gotten the same peaceful experience on a larger ship with a lot more people around. PLEASE NOTE: All that lazy sunning also meant I got the worse sunburn of my life, so bring plenty of sunscreen and reapply constantly! Don't make my mistake. A few other notes--there is ample parking at the marina and there is a guard at the entrance. Just let him know you're there for the Erin Go Bragh. Guys on golf carts will take you to the dock once you've parked. There is a bathroom on board the ship, but it's a pump toilet and it can get a little rocky below deck, so maybe think about going to the restroom at the marina before departing. I'd absolutely spend another day with Erin Go Bragh if I go back to Puerto Rico again, and I'd definitely recommend asking for Hector and Arturo if possible. read more

This trip is honestly at the top of my "greatest things I've ever done in my life" list! We were in PR for a wedding and a friend booked this sailing trip several months in advance. The 6 of us arrived at the boat around 9:30 am welcomed by Captain Dan and First Mate Arturo. They made us feel right at home and shortly after the safety run through we set sail. It was a beautiful day and we sailed to our first secluded snorkeling spot. We spent about an hour or two snorkeling around the beautiful reefs. We returned to the boat and enjoyed a delicious BBQ meal prepared by Capt Dan and Arturo. They also had a full supply of rum punch, beer and a selection of soda and water. Arturo was great at helping with anything you needed, from snorkeling assistance, drinks to being our photographer! We moved to another location to finish out the day and I cannot get over how beautiful and peaceful it was. It was just us - not another boat in sight. Better than any spa day you can imagine! Overall this was a first class experience that is worth every penny! I'm dreaming of the day we will return and set sail with Captain Dan and Arturo! read more

What an incredible day! My husband and I, along with another couple (close friends) chartered a sailboat for the afternoon. Captain Dan and Arturo made sure everything was perfect. First we were taken to a private beach to snorkel and relax. When we swam back to the boat, Arturo was just finishing his lunch preparation of BBQ ribs and chicken (and drinks, of course). After lunch we sailed to another location, on a reef, to snorkle some more! Then it was back to dock. We were all thrilled with the adventure and swear that we are never taking one of those touristy booze cruises again! The price was just a little more, but worth every penny.... This really needs a 6th star rating. I traveled with Kris P. (below) and everything she said was true! None of us can stop gushing about what an amazing day that was. The entire experience was amazing and I would love to return and would definitely re-charter them for a day or even overnight experience. They truly thought of everything from the fresh flowers, to having different sea sickness aids. The equipment provided made everything more than convenient and you felt safe knowing that you have a certified dive master available. Not to mention the amazing knowledge of the sea that both have, I am slightly convinced that Ingrid is a Selkie though since while she will be going back to reside on land she is completely at home in the sea. I really don't have enough good things to say about Erin Go Bragh + Captain Dan, First Mate Chris and Sue! From the first interaction Sue was extremely helpful and accommodating, even I sending us directions from the hotel (which I thought was nice but useless until I got on the island and NONE of my maps apps worked on my phone and I was extremely grateful for hand written directions). The Puerto Del Rey Marina is easy to get to and quite nice actually, with bathrooms, showers, and a little deli / quick market. The parking is free which is an added bonus. Now to the fun stuff, the sail! Captain Dan is so accommodating from the very first step on the boat. He makes sure you've got everything you need; from drinks, snacks, island facts, safety instructions, and most importantly sea sickness measures in the event you ignore the instructions and forget to take Dramamine before you start the sail . Capt Dan is so passionate about sailing, and that shows in the entire trip. He takes you to little known reefs and coves that haven't been ruined by tourists. On both of the islands we went to we were not only the only people, but the only boat in the area! They even go so far as to give you little loaves of bread to bring with you while you snorkel to attract the friendly fish! It was awesome. While you're snorkeling Dan and Chris put together an Extraordinary lunch. We have bbq chicken, ribs, fresh salad, French bread, and island rice. And because it was my fiance's birthday they special ordered him an island cheesecake from the local bakery and served it after our second island. In general I don't have enough good things to say. My husband and I planned a trip to Puerto Rico to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and stayed at El Conquistador for most of our trip. We brought our 7 year old with us and contacted Erin Go Bragh for a private day of sailing and snorkeling. This day trip was so good, I don't even know where to start. I contacted them over email before we got there and they always followed up promptly. Sue was extremely accommodating and nice. She was able to communicate exactly what we wanted and Captain Dan and his crew had it ready for us. We sailed on May 13th with Captain Dan, Arturo and Carlos. I have to say that the next time we visit we must do it again. The crew was amazing. They made us feel so welcome as if the boat was ours for the day. They were also very engaging but knew when to give us privacy so that we could enjoy our time on the boat. Captain Dan gave us options and took us to an island where only the 3 of us would enjoy as there was no one else around. Our son was a little hesitant of the open waters but once again, Carlos and Arturo tried their best to make him feel comfortable. I can go on and on...but overall this was definitely the highlight of our 6 day trip to Puerto Rico. Not just because of the snorkeling, the awesome boat or the great food, but because of the hospitality we were given. Thank you Carlos and Arturo for going above and beyond, and Captain Dan thanks for all the good tips you gave us and for taking us there and back safe. Absolutely outstanding!!! read more

Great food, great company, great boat, great crew, great snorkeling, absolutely stunning weather. It was a full day and we enjoyed every minute. My Nephew chartered this boat for us as a Christmas gift for our trip to PR. We all were so impressed with the service. It was a very relaxing day and we felt like we were out on a friends boat. Dan and Conrad are awesome. We snorkeled in secluded spots and snacked on home made mango salsa and guacamole -which was the best I have ever had.
