One of the first things we needed to fix was the toilet (for the in-laws). We bought an electric toilet and needed someone to install it. We were introduced to Nick from Binnacle Marine from a vendor in the marine industry. The one thing that stood out first versus other marine repair companies, is that Nick is immediately likable, and extremely friendly. He took the time to explain to us "newbies" what he was going to do, how he was going to do it, and then he just made it happen. He was so thorough with the install and so professional. He even cleaned up his mess after and it was like he was never there. That was on day one. With the laundry list of upgrades and minor repairs that we had, he was able to help up prioritize need to do vs. want to do, and has been very upfront, communicative, and informative. I have learned more chatting with Nick about our boat in 3 weeks than I learned in the 10 yrs of saving for this boat and reading about yachts, online. We won't use anyone else. Nick now does ALL of our boat repairs. The guy loves boating and it shows. His passion, his main mission is to keep people on the water and keep them safe by giving them peace of mind through the work he does. Twice this season they have rapidly responded, done the trouble shooting, gotten me scheduled, fixed the problem, and gotten me back to boating.....all unforecast, and in the middle of the busiest time of the year! Pretty impressive, especially considering that I'm not their money maker! This year they saved my big fishing trip with only 5 days notice! I'd spun my flexible coupling. :-( they diagnosed it, pulled the boat out of the water, pulled the motor, ordered and replaced the part, put it back together, and back in the water, all in 5 days. Darren was inpatient when answering our questions and acted too self-important to be helpful. The marina is out of the way and their hours are inconvenient. I couldn't have been more displeased with my experience.

Wow, were to begin? The guides were almost 45 mins late to start. Then the guide was downing 12…read morehour energy drinks, and shaking like an addict. His temper, lack of communication and erratic behavior caused my mom and dad to bump the guide's sled. Overall, the equipment was poorly maintained. Specifically, my sled stopped running because the spark plug wires fell off. Both of the guides' sleds broke down and our group was left alone for 45 minutes while the guides tried to fix the sleds. The guides eventually took my mom's sled and made her ride as a passenger with someone else for the rest of the day. Now the guides are quoting my parents for damages in the $1,000. Our experience was more of a slow ride up the hill than a fun filled adventure through the outdoors. All and all I would say their lack of professionalism caused a huge headache that I will never forget. Avoid these people like the plague, especially if you wanted a family experience.

We had a Groupon for the moonlight excursion. We were told to arrive 30 minutes early, but they didn't let me know that I was supposed to go to an address other than what was listed on the Groupon (which turned out to be a Safeway in North Bend - you're only supposed to meet there if you've previously arranged for a ride). We called from North Bend and found out that we were in fact 30 minutes away from the cabin so we had to rush to make it in time. The staff was super laid back and all seemed to be in good spirits once we arrived. They got us suited up and on the snowmobiles within 15 minutes. There wasn't a lot of instruction, but the machines aren't complicated at all. There were 6 people in our group and 2 guides...one guide up front and one guide in the back. I was the slowest of the bunch (average speed of 25 mph...maybe a little faster) and the guides were pretty nice about it - someone stuck it out with me the whole time. Our two hours flew by and before I knew it we were back at the cabin. It was definitely worth the price I paid for the Groupon, but I think the normal price is wayyy too much. I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a fun way to enjoy the Snoqualmie Pass area. The staff is nice and the scenery is gorgeous.

I lost an irreplaceable rod on a river yesterday. I never would have found it without the incredible help of Muaaz, one of the staff members, who was so exceedingly caring and attentive that he voluntarily managed to track down the person who grabbed it from the bank. Thank you, Muaaz! Many fly shops are intimidating. Most are uncomfortable to hang out in. Plenty of them employ "experts" who are outright disdainful and rude to customers who don't know what they're doing. Most other shops aren't designed to foster a real community, let alone bring a positive force to the larger community of the neighborhood. There isn't a single employee here who won't go above and beyond for you, whether you're an absolute novice, intermediate to expert angler, or just have a friend or family member who's into fly fishing. Need a gift for the angler in your life? Curious about why people are so obsessed with this sport? Want to understand why matching a rod with the appropriate reel, line, leader, and tippet seems so complicated? Want to know if that piece of equipment is really worth the price tag? Maybe you don't really need anything, but you'd like to hang out in a comfortable space designed for customers like you to relax and socialize. Maybe you're tinkering with the idea of getting into fly tying but have no idea where to start. Or perhaps you could really use some expert advice based extensive experience -- without being told you have to buy $2,000 worth of whatever. If any of the above rings a bell, this is the place. No upselling, no uptight attitudes, no joke. This place is invested in making a real contribution to the community of West Seattle. If you live closer to another shop, give this one a shot. It's worth the trip, and you might not go back to that other place. The junction is lucky to have EWA at their new location on California Ave. I shop here instead of buying directly from vendors because there's no price gouging or elitist vibe, and because I honestly want this business to thrive. Most of the other customers who frequent this place do too. Moving this shop from 42nd and Oregon to the heart of the junction took an enormous group effort. There's a good reason so many of its customers volunteered to help with whatever was needed.
