Librarian asks the children to remain seated for bubble time after the story(ies)

I absolutely love this library. We go every week for story time for preschoolers. My only complaint is, if this is a library you need to hold everyone accountable for their noise level. I go to a library almost every day for story time and no other library allows kids to scream and run around like maniacs. I have two preschoolers and understand how difficult it is to be a parent. I was also a kindergarten teacher and can assure you, an authority figure (librarian) simply asking children to lower voices or use walking feet will work.

The resources and programs this library has will surprise you and they have something for all ages. I was also surprised to learn Watauga has a inter library exchange program which means they can request a book from another library for you, if for some reason they don't have the book desired or it is checked out. The staff are also super friendly and helpful.

Clean, bathrooms are locked for safety, everyone that worked there was SO kind, enough for my 19 month old to do and not get bored but not over stimulated. We will be back

    Great kids atmosphere!

While the NRH Library isn't as modern and expansive as some libraries in larger cities like Dallas or Austin, there's a simple beauty in its organization, cleanliness, and welcoming/helpful staff. The staff are always welcoming and helpful in finding or directing you towards the book you're searching for. Their websites is one of the easier library sites to navigate, they include an event schedule separated into sections for adults, teens, and children--which is a small but helpful feature. They have a drive-thru type of book drop off, so you don't have to physically walk into the library to drop off your library books. They even host the Mid-Cities Teen Book Festival which features various events along with a free lunch that our entire family looks forward to each year! The MakerSpace is an area for arts and crafts and other events for teens and kids, they have Study Rooms for studying, and occassional book sales. It's also close by the NYTEX Centre (ice skating/hockey) and the NRH Centre (arts and recreation) which is very convenient! Highly recommend this library.

For eBook and audiobooks you are limited to three holds and three checkouts. Lending period can vary from title to title (most are 14 days). The books I've checked out are in Kindle format, which means you need either a Kindle, of one of the the free Kindle reader apps (available for a variety of platforms). Unlike a real book, it does not appear you can return material early in order to check out more material Freegal Music gives you access to millions of songs from over 10,000 labels including the Sony Music catalog of your country (in MP3 format). You are allowed a measly 3 downloads per week. If you are patient enough, you can download entire albums. Another thing I just started looking into is Mango Languages, also available with your library card. Maybe after 10 years of marriage I will finally try to learn some Vietnamese, beyond the most rudimentary of basics that is. As I mentioned in my earlier review, Keller City Library is part of the MetrOPAC system. Other MetrOPAC Libraries, which accept Keller Resident Library cards, are: Fort Worth Public Library Benbrook Public Library Burleson Public Library Haltom City Public Library Richland Hills Public Library Watauga Public Library Oh, and here's a cool tip: If you book is overdue, renew it on-line. If the renew is successful, it's won't be overdue anymore. I'm not sure if this works with DVDs, which carry a stiffer overdue fine. Lastly, this library can be noisy. People just don't seem to know what library etiquette is. Perhaps the expectation of a quiet library is changing. I agree with Tee, if you are looking for a quiet place to study, this may not be the pace for you. The Texas Motor Speedway may be a bit quieter ;-) Nowadays I find bookstores more quiet than libraries, and many even have tables (and coffee shops).

That said, I REALLY enjoy the Roanoke Library. My wife and I moved to Roanoke in July 2011, and I kind of stumbled across this little gem. Here's a summary: - It's small. Cozy, but not too small - every time I go, there's only one or two patrons in the whole place. - Free Wifi. A lot quieter to study/work here than Starbucks. - They carry fairly new items (in my category of interests, anyway). I managed to secure the Steve Jobs biography on hold, within a few weeks of publication. Beats spending the money on Kindle. - A part of the TexShare program, which allows me to borrow books from other libraries after being a local cardholder for 6 months. - Good movie selection, and blu-rays. Current stuff, stuff I would think would be "too new" for the library. Also, the week-long policy for movies is a plus. - Decent online holding and renewal system. I can check out a book for 2 weeks, but renew it up to 5 times online. Wow! That's cool. All in all, this childhood place of memory has re-entered my list of favorite places - good resources, friendly staff, and a quiet environment.

The management of the library system seems to be doing some great new things. Each time I go in, I am able to find new books that are current and are of interest to me. There are a lot of computer terminals for those individuals looking to gain access to the internet. The new library also has some great work stations with power at each station in the center of the table. This is a very comfortable library now and a strong library system for such a small little community.

I even said oh sorry she's just a curious toddler, we're just wandering. He didn't say a word & continued to be rude & correct anything she touched. Two stars for cleanliness & organization.

Raising kids and working full time in a…read moredemanding job meant that me time was at a premium and my love of reading was temporarily set aside. When I relocated to Colleyville and went to vote in person, on a whim I went downstairs and got a new library card on the spot. They laughingly told me that new users often ticked up during election season for them. Now, the best parts. The only portal makes it super easy to request books, and I can swing by the handy dandy drive thru and pick up during library hours. They have a wonderful service where you can submit a request for a list of recommended books just for you based on what you share about your interests, favorite authors etc. I'm on my third list and Kara has nailed it every time. I've found some great new authors and enjoyed some books I never would have found otherwise. Just another reason living in Colleyville is pretty awesome.

The Colleyville Library is an outstanding library. They put on great events throughout the year,…read moreespecially in the summer. Their storytimes are so fun for littles. Most of the storytimes are not drop in - You have to register in advance and commit to an 8 week session. I think this results in a higher quality storytime - the librarians get to know your kids, they have crafts and other fun aspects to the storytime, and it's never overcrowded. Many other events offered do not require registration. The kids play area is the best I've seen at a library. There is so much to do! My kids all still love playing there, and will happily move from table to table building and playing for HOURS (even the older ones!). I do think, since this is a small library, you really have to utilize the online hold system if you want to pick out specific books. Especially when it comes to popular kid's books, it's unlikely that you're going to walk into the library and find it on the shelf. That's ok with me - the hold system saves me time because I reserve it online, the library tells me when it's been turned in and sets it aside, and I swing by the drive through to pick it up. Through the interlibrary loan system, you can get *almost* any book or movie you want, even if the Colleyville Library doesn't have it. I utilize the interlibrary loans regularly and have only ever requested ONE book that the library wasn't able to procure for me. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Two negatives I'd point out: 1. The new "no late fees" policy. Because there are no longer late fees, it's essentially "choose your own due date!" and the result is very long wait times for some book series. When I scroll through my list of holds, more than half the books are often overdue. The library should be collecting fines for this to encourage on time return of books and use the money to purchase duplicate copies of books in popular kids series. 2. Holds are capped at 20 books. This isn't really an issue during the school year, but during the summer when more kids are checking out books, you pretty much have to wait for every book that comes to mind. With 8 people in our house, we reach 20 holds very quickly. I'd prefer if they did away with the 20 book hold limit. Those negatives aside, this library has my heart! We are here at least a couple times a week picking up books and I am immensely grateful for the way the library has enabled me to foster a love of reading in my kids. We LOVE the Colleyville Library!!!
