They have the best Hibachi around and great prices! AND they have a 100% rating from the health dept.

We were headed for an old favorite BBQ place in Mochsville. Hadn't been in a while - it had closed…read more- and was replaced by Japanese hibachi restaurant called Tokyo Express. We decided to try it. I ordered Hibachi Chicken and Carolyn had Teriyaki Chicken. Both were served with fried rice, sweet carrots, and a mixture of squash, zucchini, onions, and broccoli. Portions were ample. The chicken (breast)was cooked perfectly. The flavor was a bit bland. Could have used a little salt, and more sauce. The rice had good flavor, but was a touch undercooked. We just prefer "sticky" rice. The carrots were soft and delicious. Just a little sweetness - just right. The mixed veggies were well cooked, a little al dente, but that's the way I like jt. Food was served on styrofoam plates, which is ok. Plastic forks, however, need to be larger and more sturdy. The place is new. Maybe the flavor will come in time. We might be back, but were disappointed the BBQ is gone.

This is typical Americanized Japanese and Chinese food. It does a good job within those parameters…read more I opted for the chicken lo mein. The flavor was neutral. My wife got the steak hibachi. Ditto. The chicken and the steak were very well cooked. The pan fried gyoza were good and the sauce had a bit of punch to it. There are a few reasons beyond the food that I won't likely be coming back. 1. Syrofoam plates and cups even for dine in. Wasteful. 2. Fox News playing on the TV. No thanks. 3. Christian radio playing over the speakers. Don't need it. I understand they are trying to fit in with bright red Mocksville and can't fault them for that. It's just not for me.

Dined here on my own. Lots of parking was kind of quiet but that wasn't a problem…read more My server was very kind and friendly. I ordered a hibachi plate with beef. The amount of food was a lot and the price was decent. I couldn't finish my meal. There was a whole plate of steak and veggies with two scoops of rice. I also got a miso soup and side salad with my meal. The miso soup was decent. And the side salad was a small bowl of lettuce, which was what you'd expect. I enjoyed my food with all their sauces but probably liked their ginger sauce the best. The meat was cooked as requested, medium rare. Rice was "fried rice" but not like the fried rice I'm used to--just seemed like seasoned rice, but I wasn't heart broken about that. There were lots of tables and the check out was easy enough. No complaints here.

A great week night dinner spot when you don't feel like cooking and faster/more inexpensive than driving to Greensboro to have "cook in front if you" Japanese. It's also just as good IMO. Their wait staff is usually a pretty young crowd (high school/teenage kids) but we've never left feeling like the service was bad. And our food is always good. Steak and shrimp cooked perfectly with mounds of fluffy rice. They have also added an array of sushi as of late that is great in flavor and price. Definitely worth a try if you live in the area and haven't been by in a while!
