Fuzzywig's Candy Factory

Fuzzywig's Candy Factory

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think one is ever too old for a candy store. Then again, this…read moreis coming from someone who has http://candyaddict.com/blog/ bookmarked. It's a place where I can let my inner child let loose and a place I can peruse for hours on end. Fuzzywig's Candy Factory was no exception. Conveniently located inside Tuttle Mall, it's my go-to place for a quick pick-me-up, followed by Starbuck's. A fourth of the store is solely devoted to Jelly Bellyism -- a collection I could care less for. Another 1/4 of FCF is strictly for all the different colors of M&M's you never knew existed. And, lastly, the last half of the store. From typical bulk candies (salt water taffy) to sugar-free chocolates (*shudder*) to hard to find candies (Zotz, anyone?) to inedible candy (duh, people, Now and Laters!), you can find just about any type of sugary goods to satisfy your sweet tooth. I personally discovered Chocolate Ice Cubes during my last visit. Let's just say that I pretended I didn't see partially hydrogenated coconut oil as the very first thing listed on the ingredients list and continued on my merry way chomping on these heaven sent chocolates. The fella who worked here was quite sociable, ridiculously patient, and apparently still adjusting to the Columbus scene/folks, as he had just relocated from Long Island not too long ago. Prices are pretty decent, especially for the hard to find selections (~$8/pound or $2.25/quarter of a pound.) I shall be back!

Anthony-Thomas Candy Shoppes - Just shy of $35 for this feast. Should last a few weeks with me. Will power is strong in that one Yoda would say.

With a slogan about only selling what they don't eat, I had to try the place. Never heard of them,…read moreeven growing up 60 miles from Columbus, but Esther Price chocolates from Dayton was and still is the bench mark and they sell in major grocery stores for at least 50 miles around Dayton, not in their own stores only. I will say that the sample I got was just as good. Loved the fact I could pick the 1/2 lb. box of milk chocolate I brought from candy cases so I got what I wanted. While EBS loved dark chocolate for its health benefits and "maybe" the taste, I try not to touch that stuff. Taste buds are too precious to kill and calories are worth their weight in gold at my advanced age. Taste is get 5 stars, but the higher price - $10.95 for that 1/2 lb. box took an star off. The stuff in the picture was almost $35 and that included getting the rabbit for only $5. The service was 5 star worthy. I have worked a candy counter at Easter time in a past life, or so long ago it seems like it, and to be that cheerful and helpful says something. Keeping the legacy alive.

You can find an Anthony-Thomas at any corner of the city with good quality chocolates. I got some chocolate covered gram crackers, English toffee, caramel corn, and a couple buckeyes. These were so good. Just had to have a chocolate fix on Wednesday evening while out and about with a friend.
