I was in the area, eating breakfast and waiting for a tour to begin while on vacation. The shop offers a wide variety of DC attire and souvenirs. I encountered two female clerks while here. Not very polite. In fact, neither one of them spoke. Nor offered any assistance. I know I at least said good morning. And I got no reply. Their main concern was placing an order for breakfast. Items in the store a little pricey. read more

Bought a 250 Freedom stainless steel cup for $29, 2 weeks ago, washed once and rust stains! Made in China (didn't see the sticker when I bought it) should be sold in any DC stores. Look at the Capitol Store, products made in the USA, people are willing to pay more, but not BS from "elsewhere". You would have more and better business! read more

After my husband and I had breakfast today we walked into this souvenir shop. There was a cut-out of President Donald J. Trump so we took our picture with it. I noticed while my husband was taking my picture, there were two women watching. After I moved away one woman walked up to the cut-out, pulled a sign out of her bag, and had the other woman take her pic. The sign read, "F*ck Trump! No King!". She held the sign while giving the cut-out the middle finger. ALL of the workers in the souvenir shop were cheering and clapping her. I turned to my husband and said I was ready to leave; I wouldn't spend one red cent in that shop. Saturday, June 14th, 2025 at approximately 2:00 - 2:15 pm. Anyone who is pro American, pro military, pro Trump I would encourage NOT stopping and shopping at the #WashingtonWelcomeCenterSouvenirShop. It is in the same block as Ford's Theatre National Historic Site and Ford's Theatre. read more

The female staff and acting manager were loud, wore headphones, and behaved rudely. My request for assistance was ignored and dismissed impolitely. The only two other visitors left due to the disruptive environment Christmas music was played but you could barely hear it over loudness This conduct is unacceptable. Please investigate and take corrective action. read more

Found this place totally by accident and I'm so glad that I did! I bought tickets for the Old Town Trolley Tours and this is where the first and last stop is located. Inside, you will find so many type of souvenirs like: shirts, candy, magnets, caps, and so on. Prices were reasonable. They even had some sale items! They do have a restroom. read more

All the souvenirs you could want (well, I didn't find a charm for my charm bracelet so not quite all), this place is also the meetup for the Old Town Trolley Tour of Monuments by Moonlight (definitely worth the money!) They also have a penny smashing machine if you are a collector. read more

I live in Maryland and work in DC but I'm from Nebraska so I still go out and be a tourist quite often. So occasionally I have to check out places like this. This one is located across from Ford's Theater. Don't get me wrong this isn't the first one of these stores I've been in (and a may now own 'Santa riding Air Force One' Christmas ornament) , but I think I have finally reached satiation with this visit. If this is what you're look though . . . . then THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU! read more

We were in the area and decided to drop by. They have a lot of souvenirs. Yes, everything is overpriced. It's great if you are looking for some gifts. They have a restroom in the back. It's spacious inside, organized, and clean. Employees are sweet and quick. It's close by to the Ford's Theatre. read more

Washington Welcome Center contains an awesome collection of tchotchkes and junk for the indiscriminate souvenir shopper. Basically, this place is filled with crap. It's so crappy, I made multiple purchases on multiple trips! I almost returned for a third time when I realized I missed the "Bill for First Lady" shot glass. DAMN! There's always next time... I've been to the much classier White House Gifts near the "House that Barack Built" (The White House), but it's much pricier and lacks the "cheese factor" of WWC. Bottom line: An awesome spot to pick up a life-sized bust of Kennedy or a "Trump is a Douchebag" coffee mug. Whatever your political bent, you can find a "must have" souvenir for your loved ones and/or arch enemies (might be the same person?) 3.75 stars! read more

This is a great store for souvenirs or an entire patriotic outfit while in a rush for the 4th of July parade. They have clothing, kitchenware, Christmas ornaments, mugs, tequila shots... you name it, from the traditional souvenir you'd bring to elder family members to the tackiest t-shirt/hat/mug. The shop is actually quite small for the amount of merchandise they carry, from Washington D.C. White House Christmas ornaments, Americana decor and left or right political merchandise, everything is neatly organized and the store is clean. They do have restrooms AND they are pet friendly! While I was there I saw a person with two adorable Shih-Tzu in a stroller, all things considered they were really well behaved so probably the staff wouldn't have noticed they were dogs. Also the prices for the souvenirs were a dollar or two less than at other stores that carried the exact same product. Overall great place to get most of your shopping done. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. The staff were incredibly rude to our whole group. The event that spurred this review was the fact that they were rude to CHILDREN. And the register wreaked of weed. Not illegal but not the best experience for our school group. read more

***Lots of touristy stuff here like magnets, t-shirts, key chains, mugs, and so on; overall, they have a variety of stuff and there are a few useful things like maps, but you will find much nicer take home items at the actual landmarks and museums like The Museum of Natural History*** This store is located in Downtown DC. The person that works there are SO RUDE!!!!!! it is DEFINITELLY not a WELCOMEing place. We were looking for a USB with Washington DC commemorative design on it. The lady keep saying that they are a gift shop. I am in the wrong place. I should goto Radio Shack or some place like that. I try to explain to her that we are specifically looking for a USB that has Washington DC Design on it. She just did not get it. It is OK if shed does not get it. But the way she handled us was very rude. Washington Welcome Center???? really!?!?!? read more

Contacted Mr. Morris... not a cooperative and comprehensive man. Purchased a personalized cup.. (cup with a name) it was wrapped up in paper... figured that they knew what they were doing and wrapped it well... but when I arrived home notices the cup was cracked... Dollar tree and dollar stores are much more careful on packaging they give carboard box or even give the box the cup came in... youd think a gift shop would know better... and be a notch higher than a regular everyday dollar store.! And for the record, yes I would expect a replacement cup (free cup) except shipping cost which I would gladly pay. But hey... takes all kinds of people to make a world. read more

Unlike the other souvenir shops on this block, this place is actually clean and big. T-Shirts as low as $5.99 (OK, probably crappy T-Shirts) and all sorts of patriotic swag including hot sauces, candies and my personal fav, Presidential Toilet Brushes! I came to DC for a journalism conference and my entire class wanted to grab a few souvenirs to bring back home. We were met with very unfriendly employees who seemed as though they didn't care on helping us out. I bought a sweatshirt that had the wrong size sticker on it, and when I asked can I return it and have them give me a refund because they didn't have the same sweatshirt in a different size, they said they could not do any returns. They told me it says on the receipt they have a no refund policy but they did not let me know ahead of time. They had absolutely no sympathy and I do understand that they don't want to break policy but at least try to help me out. read more

My husband and I purchased tickets for the Trolley Tour and wanted to get a head start early in the morning. Without a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel I researched to see at what point we should begin our tour. When I read the words "Souvenirs and snacks are also available" I thought Bingo! We will start there and load up on snacks (i.e. breakfast) in order to begin our day. Little did we know this is not a "Center" at all. I felt that the name of the building was misleading and almost a lie. It was nothing but a large souvenir shop and the only "snacks" they sold were expensive souvenir chocolates. That's it!! We quickly made our way over to COSI. However, this is a good place to stop at the end of your tour. I wanted to buy some souvenirs, but didn't want to lug them around all day. read more

My daughter went to the Washington welcome center on 12/6/16 to buy 2016 White House Christmas ornament that is offered at White House visitors center for 20.95 and online for the same. Her own fault but She purchased 4 for family members She was going to go to the White House visitor center but this was closer to where She lived and it was raining so She never thought to look at the price! They charged 39.99! Same ornament double the price She didn't notice the no return policy so She went back the next day to get a refund! The manager said they were only 8 dollars more sorry that is not correct! She understood the no refund policy but to charge double for something like this is ridiculous! Shameful people that would price gauge this high any amount! read more

Honestly, they have horrible customer service. I regret purchasing the shirts I did from this store. Do not shop here! Their are plenty of other places to get souvenirs (at a cheaper price), and this shouldn't be on your list of places to buy souvenirs while in DC cause the people working their, everyone from the people shelving items to the cashiers were totally rude as hell. read more

store was nice & clean but personnel was very rude and unfriendly. i only bought 1 souvenir and it was a t-shirt - sorry i chose to spend any money at this store - i did not realize at the time this was "Washington Welcome Center" - personnel should be addressed as to their conduct with "tourist" - i had picked up a t-shirt from a desk which had a size - $6.99 & Up - i did not realize this - so when i walked to cashier and rung up it came out $10.69!!! whow what happened to $6.99? so when i asked - person behind cashier almost spanked me - saying out loud - it does say $6.99 & UP!!! when i asked ok, where is the $6.99 one she basically looked at me and pointed to the desk once again, over there, you have to check each one...... ok when working with the public especially in a place were you deal with alot of people from out of town, i believe your first priority should be patience, not disrespect or talking down to someone. she made me feel very unfortunately by the way her tone of voice was. as a chose a $6.99 t-shirt and went to pay - she asked if i needed a bag (well being used to home where when you usually buy something at a store it is automatically placed in bag) I said yes thank you ---- then i noticed she added on 5 cents to the purchase for the bag!!!i was not advised there was a charge for the bag, it was just assumed that i would know this. point in case - it is not about the $6.99 or the darn 5 cents - its about this person being so darn rude that i chose not to continue browsing for anything else in that store, nor will i recommend anyone to go shopping here. there are plenty of street vendors which i am sure are selling the same quality t-shirts and even maybe cheaper or at least with a better attitude towards the spending public! read more
