After my husband and I had breakfast today we walked into this souvenir shop. There was a cut-out of President Donald J. Trump so we took our picture with it. I noticed while my husband was taking my picture, there were two women watching. After I moved away one woman walked up to the cut-out, pulled a sign out of her bag, and had the other woman take her pic. The sign read, "F*ck Trump! No King!". She held the sign while giving the cut-out the middle finger. ALL of the workers in the souvenir shop were cheering and clapping her. Found this place totally by accident and I'm so glad that I did! I bought tickets for the Old Town Trolley Tours and this is where the first and last stop is located. Inside, you will find so many type of souvenirs like: shirts, candy, magnets, caps, and so on. Prices were reasonable. They even had some sale items! They do have a restroom. read more

Washington Welcome Center contains an awesome collection of tchotchkes and junk for the indiscriminate souvenir shopper. Basically, this place is filled with crap. It's so crappy, I made multiple purchases on multiple trips! I almost returned for a third time when I realized I missed the "Bill for First Lady" shot glass. DAMN! There's always next time... I've been to the much classier White House Gifts near the "House that Barack Built" (The White House), but it's much pricier and lacks the "cheese factor" of WWC. Bottom line: An awesome spot to pick up a life-sized bust of Kennedy or a "Trump is a Douchebag" coffee mug. This is a great store for souvenirs or an entire patriotic outfit while in a rush for the 4th of July parade. They have clothing, kitchenware, Christmas ornaments, mugs, tequila shots... you name it, from the traditional souvenir you'd bring to elder family members to the tackiest t-shirt/hat/mug. The shop is actually quite small for the amount of merchandise they carry, from Washington D.C. White House Christmas ornaments, Americana decor and left or right political merchandise, everything is neatly organized and the store is clean. They do have restrooms AND they are pet friendly! While I was there I saw a person with two adorable Shih-Tzu in a stroller, all things considered they were really well behaved so probably the staff wouldn't have noticed they were dogs. Also the prices for the souvenirs were a dollar or two less than at other stores that carried the exact same product. Overall great place to get most of your shopping done. read more

Contacted Mr. Morris... not a cooperative and comprehensive man. Purchased a personalized cup.. (cup with a name) it was wrapped up in paper... figured that they knew what they were doing and wrapped it well... but when I arrived home notices the cup was cracked... Dollar tree and dollar stores are much more careful on packaging they give carboard box or even give the box the cup came in... youd think a gift shop would know better... and be a notch higher than a regular everyday dollar store.! And for the record, yes I would expect a replacement cup (free cup) except shipping cost which I would gladly pay. But hey... takes all kinds of people to make a world. read more

I came to DC for a journalism conference and my entire class wanted to grab a few souvenirs to bring back home. We were met with very unfriendly employees who seemed as though they didn't care on helping us out. I bought a sweatshirt that had the wrong size sticker on it, and when I asked can I return it and have them give me a refund because they didn't have the same sweatshirt in a different size, they said they could not do any returns. They told me it says on the receipt they have a no refund policy but they did not let me know ahead of time. My husband and I purchased tickets for the Trolley Tour and wanted to get a head start early in the morning. Without a restaurant within walking distance of our hotel I researched to see at what point we should begin our tour. When I read the words "Souvenirs and snacks are also available" I thought Bingo! We will start there and load up on snacks (i.e. breakfast) in order to begin our day. Little did we know this is not a "Center" at all. I felt that the name of the building was misleading and almost a lie. It was nothing but a large souvenir shop and the only "snacks" they sold were expensive souvenir chocolates. That's it!! We quickly made our way over to COSI. However, this is a good place to stop at the end of your tour. I wanted to buy some souvenirs, but didn't want to lug them around all day. read more

My daughter went to the Washington welcome center on 12/6/16 to buy 2016 White House Christmas ornament that is offered at White House visitors center for 20.95 and online for the same. Her own fault but She purchased 4 for family members She was going to go to the White House visitor center but this was closer to where She lived and it was raining so She never thought to look at the price! They charged 39.99! Same ornament double the price She didn't notice the no return policy so She went back the next day to get a refund! The manager said they were only 8 dollars more sorry that is not correct! She understood the no refund policy but to charge double for something like this is ridiculous!
