He went in and of course, they wouldn't give it back to him (ok, I get that)- but then they told him that the atm wasn't working properly- I had to go in person to pick it up myself- the lady took forever- which was annoying since I had mentioned having to be at the airport- then when I mentioned they should put a sign up on the atm, she said they weren't "allowed" to because the atm part was working, just not the deposit part!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?? It's not so much the individual employees as much as the bank (I have 3 friends who work for them)- but this bank SUCKS.. They really don't care about their customers. I'm moving to Bank of America as of a few hours ago. Citizens will 'universal default' your credit if you have ONE issue on your report- even though you have paid every single bill of theirs on time. then they continue to look at your credit reports and while it's ok to penalize you for errors that weren't even yours or related to their company in ANY way, won't re-instate your original limit and low apr.. Nice work jerk offs..

About a year ago I took my name off of the account because I was much more impressed with how I am treated at my other bank which is BankNewport. Today I went into this location and the teller refused to cash a personal check drawn on Citizen's Bank, written to me by a Citizens Bank customer, unless I paid them $7.00 or unless I had an account there. I went over and spoke with the branch manager, Bruce A. Hawley. I told him what happened and he asked for my drivers license and the check. I guess he didnt like the way I vocalized the problem and so he slapped my drivers license and the check down on his desk so hard that you could have easily heard it in the lobby. I told him that I thought that it was a scam for a bank to charge someone $7 to cash a check that was drawn on that bank. That obviously infuriated him and he refuted my claim. Then he asked me WHY I took my name off of the checking account and I told him that it was none of his business. That obviously infuriated him even more. Then he asked me if I was sure that I didnt have any accounts with Citizen's Bank and I asked him what part of no did he not understand the first time he asked. And as you might imagine, he was obviously completely infuriated now. I told him that I knew he had the authority to waive the $7 fee, and I asked him to do it, but he insisted that he did not have that ability. I told him that I knew that he was not telling the truth because I used to date the branch manager of a bank and I knew that managers have the authority to waive any bank fee for a customer that they want to. He picked up my drivers license and the check, handed them back to me and then told me that I would be paying the $7 if I got the check cashed there. Needless to say, I walked out and I will never go back. I went across the street to BankNewport, they deposited the check "as cash", I got a free cup of coffee...and that's just 2 of the reasons that I like banking there.

Yesterday, I went inside for the first time in a while, and honestly, the service was pretty good. With a "Docusign" to make sure the check could not be cashed in the future. The charge:30 $ A week later a letter came from the bank saying the check bounced and there was a fee for 25 $ Upon calling about this, the banker said this needs a call back. When they called back they said there had been a typo or error in the check number that was entered in ? All the info was there the contractor name, the exact amount 695 $ Can't believe a bank typo error on the check #(1 digit off) would make a garrentee from all the nice people on the phone disappear. So this was my fault I was told ?? WOW The account bounced two more small checks ... and there were two more 25$ fees and the account came down a lot from the banks failure to honor what its agents said and expected thenselfs; even the guy who did the whole thing wen to bat for the situation and what happened, he knew it was a BANK ERROR The branch Manager that handes my accounts there, basically hung up on me too, when I called to check on the status of their upper management decision. Shocking a bank that says it is for its customers and is a protector of people's resources trusted unto to them, Don't believe it, they'll take your account down with a lack of ability in doing a simple stop payment ? The upper people were rude; blamed me(even though I had everything all set I was told twice) and hung up on by a rep, and laughed at me in the SC branch bank as I walked away.
