Imagine my surprise! I went to sit with one of the people in the booth. They called the main line of Chase. On the phone call I was told that it was closed because they needed 'verbal confirmation' it was me. I said 'It's me. I am sitting here with one of your coworkers and he has verified all my ID.' The woman on the phone said that was NOT enough! So they closed the account. Without my knowledge, they shut the account and mailed me a check. I was not home so the check sat in front on my apartment door until I got home. So blessed that no one stole the check sitting in front of my apartment door. Went to Bank of America and Phillip treated with respect. Do not let this bank Chase you. I am looking into reporting them.

Yesterday, I went inside for the first time in a while, and honestly, the service was pretty good. The staff is great, and they like talking with you while getting the task complete, which adds a nice touch of hospitality.

My credit union has just the one branch. I know it's only a forty minute drive North, but that's my rationale. Truth be told, I opened the account online. Their web site UI was super slick and the process was easy and aggravation-free. I recently dropped into the branch in Wakefield to get some cash since I forgot my wallet at home and only had my license on me. Thank goodness I opened an account down here. The retail branch is located in a beautiful white house with a sweeping porch just outside the Wakefield/Narragansett rotary. The landscaping is simple but neat...and walking up the wooden porch steps you feel like you are heading into someone's home. There were no customers in the bank and I was greeted immediately by a teller behind the counter. The staff here looked relaxed...and happy...and best of all, eager to please. I completed my transaction quickly and I was out the door thinking "hmm...they were REALLY sweet." Odd. How often do I leave my bank thinking that? Never...until this place became MY bank. The décor is dated and the carpet definitely needed a scrubbin'. But in a way, it adds to the old school charm here. They offer a full line of financial products and services. I would seek them out for future needs based on the friendly, local vibe. Local is the way to go with banking - and this local biz does South County proud.

He went in and of course, they wouldn't give it back to him (ok, I get that)- but then they told him that the atm wasn't working properly- I had to go in person to pick it up myself- the lady took forever- which was annoying since I had mentioned having to be at the airport- then when I mentioned they should put a sign up on the atm, she said they weren't "allowed" to because the atm part was working, just not the deposit part!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAT?? It's not so much the individual employees as much as the bank (I have 3 friends who work for them)- but this bank SUCKS.. They really don't care about their customers. Citizens will 'universal default' your credit if you have ONE issue on your report- even though you have paid every single bill of theirs on time. then they continue to look at your credit reports and while it's ok to penalize you for errors that weren't even yours or related to their company in ANY way, won't re-instate your original limit and low apr.. I had a joint checking account at Citizens Bank and went to this location almost weekly for almost…read more10 years (because it is so close to my home). About a year ago I took my name off of the account because I was much more impressed with how I am treated at my other bank which is BankNewport. Today I went into this location and the teller refused to cash a personal check drawn on Citizen's Bank, written to me by a Citizens Bank customer, unless I paid them $7.00 or unless I had an account there. I went over and spoke with the branch manager, Bruce A. Hawley. I told him what happened and he asked for my drivers license and the check. I guess he didnt like the way I vocalized the problem and so he slapped my drivers license and the check down on his desk so hard that you could have easily heard it in the lobby. I told him that I thought that it was a scam for a bank to charge someone $7 to cash a check that was drawn on that bank. That obviously infuriated him and he refuted my claim. Then he asked me WHY I took my name off of the checking account and I told him that it was none of his business. That obviously infuriated him even more. Then he asked me if I was sure that I didnt have any accounts with Citizen's Bank and I asked him what part of no did he not understand the first time he asked. And as you might imagine, he was obviously completely infuriated now. I told him that I knew he had the authority to waive the $7 fee, and I asked him to do it, but he insisted that he did not have that ability. I told him that I knew that he was not telling the truth because I used to date the branch manager of a bank and I knew that managers have the authority to waive any bank fee for a customer that they want to. He picked up my drivers license and the check, handed them back to me and then told me that I would be paying the $7 if I got the check cashed there. Needless to say, I walked out and I will never go back. I went across the street to BankNewport, they deposited the check "as cash", I got a free cup of coffee...and that's just 2 of the reasons that I like banking there.

I find the local banks, and Centreville Bank in particular excellent. Specifically, I am not dinged constant fees like I am with the larger, national banks. The outside of the bank is pretty vanilla and plain. Inside it is very clean and modern. Lots of glass and a soft color palate. The interior is one of the nicest bank interiors I have ever been in!
