I had an outstanding experience at Washington Radiology and wanted to recognize two employees who made a stressful situation so much easier. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. Melissa at the front desk was incredibly kind, welcoming, and efficient during check-in. She immediately put me at ease with her warm and compassionate demeanor, which made a big difference. I also want to sincerely thank Faye, the sonographer. She went above and beyond by taking the time to fit me into the schedule and, after speaking with the radiologist, she reassured me about my results. Her compassion, professionalism, and willingness to take those extra few minutes to ease my anxiety meant more than she probably realizes. It's rare to find healthcare professionals who combine exceptional clinical care with such genuine kindness. A doctor has the privilege to care for people who are sick, scared, and often both. When they take this privilege as an opportunity to instead to talk down to their patients, act coldly, and only add to an already stressful experience, like Dr. Stuart Fruman took upon himself to do, it is unfortunately a stain on the entire field. Perhaps he can take this feedback as a chance for self-reflection, and if not then he might consider another field with even less patient contact than he already has. At least this would open the way for someone who hasn't lost sight of what a privilege it is to be a comforting presence to a frightened patient. read more

Exceptionally poor standard of patient care! I scheduled an ultrasound appointment at this facility for my son through RadiologyAssist and received a confirmation. Upon arrival, however, the receptionist contacted someone and then informed me that the facility does not accept pediatric patients and does not work with RadiologyAssist. When I asked how the appointment had been accepted by then, I was given an unclear explanation--that the reservation had been made without any patient information? This response was both confusing and concerning. It is highly problematic that appointments can be confirmed without verifying basic patient details. This resulted in unnecessary inconvenience, wasted time, and added stress. Furthermore, the staff member's conduct was unprofessional; no apology was offered, nor was any effort made to provide guidance or an alternative solution. Since I cannot send another review on google, I'm posting here. Here's my first review 4 months ago and someone from their billing dept. spoke with me and my insurance confirming they had an error in their billing system and they are at fault and would contact the collection agency. However, they lied yet again and I received a notice from a debt collector. When I try to call their office their generic billing dept. tells me they are working on my case, but I have no clue what that means and if that were the case they would not have sent my info to a collection agency. DO NOT GO HERE AS THEY DO NOT FOLLOW PROPER BILLING PRACTICES. They will submit claims a year later and send you to collections. My insurance company spoke with them and they confirm the claim is not valid since they submitted it late and the collections bill is also not valid and they will update the file, but yet still after 6+ months nothing has changed and I have to call every few weeks and cannot reach the "back office" or supervisor directly to address the issues. I am always told a message will be sent to handle the issue, but nothing ever gets resolved. In the meantime I am being harassed by a collection agency on a daily basis. Don't go here as their "back office" doesn't do their job. Waiting to hear back from a supervisor, but I've requested this before with no response. read more

Zero stars. The Sterling location of Washington Radiology is a complete joke. The front staff here are extremely dishonest, lazy, and the most incompetent set of individuals that you'll ever run across. I had more than enough of the documents that would have been needed, but the front desk individual continued to refuse and kept stating that I needed additional testing; she then stated that she would contact my provider's office. She flat-out lied stating that she was unable to reach anyone at the office and no one was picking up - she had the call on speakerphone (which, mind you, everyone in the waiting room heard and were witnesses to), and continued to hang up the phone when she was put on hold. Yes, folks, what an idiot. Oh, and guess what? When I called my provider's office, they picked up after a brief hold, and they shared that I had more than enough documents to proceed, and what Washington Radiology was requesting was what I had already submitted - meaning, there shouldn't have been any issues. Honestly, I'm thinking that they just wanted to make an extra buck by requiring another set of unnecessary testing. They take no accountability for their mistakes, and they really don't care about their patients nor their time - the fact that they completely insult their patients with lies just shows the true character of this place. I was very impressed with the top-notch care and expertise provided by the radiologists and technicians, and the facility itself was comfortable with convenient parking. However, I was surprised by an unexpected balance at checkout. My only complaint is the billing process. I was blindsided by a fee, and the receptionist had a poor attitude when I asked to be billed later. Please ensure patients are informed of their out-of-pocket costs before they arrive, not when they are leaving. read more

The staff here was very friendly and I was early for my appointment and was taken back right away. It was a great experience. Where I ran into problems is with the facility getting the results to my doctor. They never received the results and calling and trying to get through to someone to help was impossible. Eventually I went to the facility and got them myself, which was an easy experience so that was good. Don't even think of trying to schedule a bone scan here. They are simply incapable of honoring appointments. My closest Washington Radiology location is not doing bone scans anymore or in the foreseeable future, so I was referred to this location, where I had to wait six months just to get an appointment only to have three successive appointments cancelled on me at the last minute. This location has no commitment to its patients and their wellbeing. I wouldn't have any tests here even it was the last place on earth doing them. read more

I went in for my Annual Mammogram on this past Friday Feb 21- Getting a Mammogram can be a very stressful test, however the ladies there were extremely kind, gentle and reassuring. It was practically painless. I would highly recommend them to anyone! read more

After waiting four months for a late January appointment to have a DEXA scan. I was called a week prior to my appointment date to CANCEL it due to an "emergency staffing issue", with no alternative appointment date. I spoke to the onsite administrator and learned they had lost their technician and were seeking a replacement. She promised to call back to set up a new appointment. After not hearing from them I called again 3 weeks later to follow up I was then given a March 1st appointment date. The radiologist refused to perform the scan as the order was signed in Feb 2024, with a clearly printed EXPIRATION DATE of April 2025. Totally disregard expiration date, and refused service on the grounds order it was signed more than 1 year ago. Their policy is to not perform them after 1 year despite the existence of an expiration date. The order was written by a Doctor with the regions largest medical provider. After an earlier Mammogram where they had screwed up the billing. A ridiculously incompetent group - stay away. I will NOT be going to this outfit again. read more

My review is very similar in nature to the negative reviews that this facility has received for many years. I chose to give no stars simply because I did not receive a service but rather a very frustrating and unpleasant experience. Im not sure if patient care or concern is a part of who Washington Radiology is?? After waiting 1 1/2 hr for a routine mamogram that had been scheduled in advance I approached the reception lady to ask when would I be seen. She kindly checked but informed me 5 to 6 people were ahead of me and it would be another 1 1/2 hr = 3hr of waiting!! No one told me of any length of time to wait and could only tell me "one of the machines broke down". I asked for the office manager which at that point around 8 ladies came to hear my complaint. Which is: Consider that everyone's time is important and communicate as if you care and your lunch break is not priority. In the waiting room was a woman who was obviously undergoing chemo and frail, another woman who told me she had been called twice by this office to cancel and reschedule now to have to wait hours to been seen and another woman who did not know whether to cancel her next appointment that day. Even though it was frustrating for me I keep thinking of those who do not have good health and how something that should be simple has complicated their already complicated day. Washington Radiology is one component to complete patient care. Consider making changes that reflect you are a part of a team in medicine that prioritizes the patient. TL;DR: I had a great experience with my biopsy today -- or at least as great of an experience as somebody repeatedly jabbing a needle into your nipple can possibly be. While I certainly wouldn't recommend the procedure just for kicks, if you find yourself in need of one, this is the place! Full review: My primary care provider recommended WR because she likes the quality of their imaging. But the reviews - for all locations! - were so bad that I was legitimately scared and almost canceled my first appointment! Now that I've had two very good experiences -- an initial mammogram/ultrasound at the DC location, and then a biopsy at the Sterling location -- I felt like I should contribute in case anybody else is reading these and freaking out. This review will focus on the Sterling location. Everybody I have dealt with at WR-Sterling has been wonderful. The woman at the front desk - wish I knew her name! - was so, so warm upon our arrival. Natasha, the coordinator for my biopsy, is an Earth Angel. She is clearly thinking ahead for her patients and was, literally and figuratively, with me every step of the way - even in her emails prior to the actual appointment. She is the type of person you want on your team when navigating the moving parts of diagnostic imaging. Dr. Banson was friendly and patient with a somewhat tricky biopsy. I literally felt nothing! Both she and Natasha offered their cell phone numbers and invited me to call or text them anytime if I had any questions whatsoever - I hope I don't need it, but the gesture means a lot. The facility itself is very comfortable. Easy to find, easy parking, and really thoughtful touches inside. A nice enclave with a coffee machine to sit with your coordinator between steps. A painting (in my case, Monet's Water Lillies) on the biopsy room ceiling so you're not staring at stark white ceiling tiles. And, my personal favorite: a gown warmer. When you're feeling vulnerable, being handed a gown that feels like it just came out of the dryer is such a nice creature comfort. Finally, I have found them to be super organized. Everybody I spoke with - at both locations! - had the same information about pre- and post- biopsy care and next steps. I never got the feeling that I do at so many places where you can talk to 3 people and get 3 different stories. Plus, both times when I've showed up, they've had my stuff together, and don't ask me to fill out repetitive forms over and over again. It gives me confidence that they've got their ducks in a row. I'll update this review if I run into anything particularly hairy on the backend i.e. with billing/insurance. But based on what I've seen so far, I'm hopeful that even if an issue does pop up, somebody there will help me get through it. read more

I came into the office about 3 weeks ago and was told I signed up for the wrong service on my doctors order. I was rescheduled for today. I came in and they still had my appointment under the wrong service even though it was booked in office. Before I found that news out I overheard them saying to patients they were running 30 minutes behind due to staffing issues. Also, they were calling patients to reschedule from their October appointments to December appointments. What a mess the office was today!! read more

If you don't read this entire review, just read this: AVOID THIS PLACE. NEVER GO HERE BECAUSE THEY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE. I originally went here in 2019 and saw Dr. Allison. She was doing a foot ultrasound (went twice) and "couldn't find my cyst." I was in so much pain and I cried after my ultrasound. She threw me a paper towel to wipe off and closed the door. Then I proceeded to hear an entire personal phone call outside the door. Btw, I got the cyst found by a different center. I thought it was just that doctor but NOPE. EVERY DOC AND TECH THAT I HAVE INTERACTED WITH THAT WORK HERE ARE CALLOUS AND SHOULD NOT BE IN HEALTHCARE. Fast forward to 2021, I have to get an abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound to rule out the big C due to having extreme stomach pain. I book an appointment over the phone (don't get me started on that). I asked them if I need to do anything before my appointment. They were like "oh yeah, drink water and don't pee before you come." I proceed to go to my appointment and they MAKE ME WAIT FOR 20 MINUTES WITH A FULL BLADDER. I ask when I'm next as I am on "borrowed time." They were so rude and huffed around. I get called back. My tech started my abdominal exam by pulling out the stirrups. They were so wide apart that you'd think I was giving birth!!! She would not adjust them. She pressed down so hard on my stomach that I had BRUISES ON MY ENTIRE HIPS AND ABDOMEN for a week after. I told her she was hurting me. She ignored me. She told me to go to the bathroom across the hall before my next exam. I asked if I could get dressed. NOPE, SHE MADE ME WALK NAKED, IN A ROBE THAT DIDN'T CLOSE ALL THE WAY, THROUGH THE ENTIRE OFFICE. Then, I did the hell. The transvaginal one. I won't go into TOO many details, but she did not show care or any regard that she was doing an exam on a human being. I was choking down tears and I finally had to tell her that I was in extreme pain. The observing doctor had to tell her to STOP DOING THE EXAM. It was a male doctor so he was in the corner interpreting the results (even though I requested a female doctor--It was not honored, but at least he was nice). He kept saying everything was good and the tech proceeded to take nearly 30 minutes of pictures. I burst out "How much longer, it's really hurting" and she ignored me. After the exam, she threw down paper towels and before she left, I made myself say that she really hurt me and I had gotten this procedure done before so I knew what to expect. And what did she say? "I needed the pictures. It shouldn't of hurt." I cried in my car after this exam because I was in so much pain. I was on medicine for pain for almost 2 weeks because of this exam. Oh also??? THEY WOULDN'T RELEASE MY RESULTS TO MY OBGYN. I made myself NOT complain until I got my records. They were supposed to be expedited and I had to call to get them sent. My obgyn was livid with this center and called them. I don't know what she said but I know when I got my copy of the results, the tech's name wasn't signed. Figures. (Note: my obgyn did not refer me here, I chose this place). ' Also, they were just casually saying private information about patients in the waiting room and they denied someone coming after they had confirmed their insurance. Oh and they stop answering the phones after a certain hour. Literally saw it happen EVERY TIME I came. NEVER EVER EVER COMING BACK. THEY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN. read more

Terrible service, that is not worth the wait of waste of time. They called me an hour before my appointment to let me know they were running an hour late and offered me another date to go (on a Sunday). I asked if I should arrive a bit later instead, so I dont have to wait that long, and told me no. So, I decided to go anyway, arrived there only 7 minutes late, based on the information provided earlier. Checked in, gave them my order, insurance card and license, completed my missing information from their form and sat down, knowing full well that I will be there for an hour. 50 minutes later the same lady calls me to say we need to reschedule as my order didn't have a DATE on the order! So it took her 50 minutes to realized what she should have noticed as soon as I gave her my order that something was missing. I am trying to stay calm, realizing I just wasted my time and they dont give a damn for our time. they don't do their job well. 101 front office clerk : check if the name, signature and ....wait the date is on the order when patient arrives! read more

I had a CT scan on 7/11 and it is now 7/24 and I still have no results. I spoke to the radiologist who indicated I needed a biopsy of a nodule and that he would send the results the next day to my doctor. Nothing. I called my doctors office today and they still do not have any results. I would not recommend the Washington Radiology Sterling office as they are clearly too busy to handle any more business. read more

This week, I had to have a renal ultrasound, which is an ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder. I had the same kind of ultrasound about four years ago at a different place. The last time It was in the summer and I was wearing gym shorts and a t-shirt. When I went in the male tech asked me just to lift my t-shirt and lower the waistband of my gym shorts down to just under my bellybutton. He did the procedure it took about 15 minutes and it was done This time, I went to Washington Radiology - Sterling a different facility than last time. When I went in, I was wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. I had a female ultrasound tech that brought me into the room and instructed me to take off my pants my t-shirt, leaving only my underwear on and put a hospital gown and lay on the table. I immediately said no. I wasn't going to lay there in my underwear as she did the exam. I told her I didn't need to take my clothes off. I've had this procedure before all I have to do is lower my waistband of my pants just under the bellybutton and pick up my t-shirt, there is no reason to get undressed. She said well that's our policy. I said well it's not my policy, so either we're going to cancel this and I'll go someplace else or you can do it my way without getting undressed. Her tone changed now from demanding and bossy to stern but polite, and she said oh well if that's what your comfortable with its fine, but its extremely messy with all the gel and it will get on your clothes. I replied with its water-based gel and its not that messy, and as I said I've had this before, if it gets on my sweatpants or t-shirt its fine. I could tell she was kind of shocked that I challenged the undressing part, but I was always nice and polite but I stood my ground. I got on the table lowered my waistband, raised my t-shirt and we engaged in polite and professional conversation as she did the procedure with no issues. No clothing was ever in the way, and no gel got anywhere on my clothes. I would not have cared if it did. She was polite and professional the rest of the time, but maybe cautions that I didn't just do as I was originally told Now when you have this type of ultrasound you have to have do it on a full bladder, which is why I scheduled it first thing in the morning, but I obviously had to pee. At the end of the ultrasound, you have to void your bladder so they can get an after picture as well. I asked her where the restroom was, and she took me there. I had to walk through the hallways to the other end of the facility, I couldn't believe that there wasn't a bathroom closer to the ultrasound rooms, the bathroom was a one person unisex restroom. I come back and finished the exam; it took about another minute and it was all over. I thanked her and it was all done Had I got undressed and put on a hospital gown, I would have had to walk through all the hallways to the entire facility to use the restroom and come back past all the other staff and patients. I didn't see another man through my entire walk to and from the restroom. Would it have been necessary to parade me through the facility in a gown and underwear? There was no reason to get undressed in the first place. If she was worried about gel on my clothes she could have offered the option instead of saying it's policy to wear the gown. Thar's BS. So I ask would a female patient have been treated the same way? I highly doubt it. By the way, the last time I checked for a testicular ultrasoind, they don't employ any male ultrasound techs in any of thier VA location's. read more

I called a dozen radiology practices before finding Washington Radiology, who were the only practice to show me empathy and work me in the same day for a desperately needed CT scan. The technician was very caring yet efficient. I highly recommend them and will use them in the future for any radiology needs. read more

I've been here twice in the past year for two different tests. Please note that on the first floor of the building there are two separate areas depending on the exam you're having done, luckily there was signage on the door to guide me. There was a bit of a wait, I came in the early part of the afternoon, and from the time that my appointment was it probably took about 30 minutes before I was taken back for my exam. Otherwise I would have been more likely to give them 4 stars. There's ample parking here so thankfully that's not too much of a hassle if you have to go there. Each test I had done there was a degree of discomfort but they tried to be as accommodating as they could making sure I wasn't in outright pain. Unfortunately when it comes to medical testing its not always comfortable or pleasant. read more

I arrived at the Sterling office of Washington Radiology for a scheduled March 3rd, 2020, 10:45 am appointment and was told that they didn't have me down for an appointment and to top it off, I either had to get reauthorization or sign a waiver for payment if I wanted to have an appointment today. When I scheduled the appointment on the phone about 4 weeks ago, nothing was said about this when I gave them my insurance information. Very, very poor customer service. Now I have to clear my schedule again to make an appointment in 6 days, and continue to suffer with sinus issues until my doc and see the CT. I'm disgusted with Washington Radiology at Sterling at this point. I do not recommend them at all. UPDATE: I got my CT scan on March 9, 2020. Called my doctor today, March 17 and was told Washington Radiology has not yet sent the results to them. My Doctors office then called Washington Radiology only to be told that the scan hasn't yet been reviewed by their doctor and it will be at least one or two more days before they get to it. UNBELIEVABLE. That will mean it would be 10 days for a review that I was told by the technician at Washington Radiology would be reviewed and sent to my doctor in 1 to 2 days. Totally uncaring and incompetent company. I will never use them again for any reason. ZERO STARS!! read more

Washington Radiology sold out to larger company. Just had my mammogram a month ago. After not hearing from them for 10 days, my dr. Office called and they were told it hadn't been read yet. I drove over and asked to speak to the manager. She apologized but had no reason why it wasn't read. I pitched a fit and got the test read and results were sent to my doctor that day. Also, technician asked if I had had a vaccine. I asked her why that was relevant. She didn't answer but wrote "no" next to vaccinated. She then took the mammogram and I have never ever had one that hurt so badly. After the exam I asked her again why it mattered about being vaccinated. She explained that the vaccine can enlarge the lymph nodes which could be an issue. I told her that I had never heard that. She went in to lecture me that it had been all over the news and where ever she traveled, she had heard it in the news. She was horrible. I'm actually surprised at some of the negative reviews. I had to visit this location on two separate occasions (CT head and sinus scans), and both were wonderful. All my appointments started on time, the receptionist was polite, and the staff inside doing to my scans were really nice and quite funny. Even the billing went smoothly. read more

First off, after reading all of the bad reviews, I almost canceled my appointment. I feared going through an afternoon of hell. So glad I went. I am dumbfounded as to how there could be so many bad reviews, when my experience was absolutely wonderful. I was cheerfully greeted at the front desk. In fact, the woman was kind enough to help get my ID out of my wallet, which was stuck in there. I was called back just a few minutes after my appointment time, by Kelly. She was nice as could be. I was nervous because I was on a call back about my mammogram which I had in Arlington. But Arlington didn't have the right equipment for what I needed for follow-up, so I chose Sterling. As it turned out, I also needed a sonogram, which made me even more nervous. A very nice male doctor did my sonogram as Kelly remained in the room. I was very comfortable. Luckily, my news was good, nothing to worry about. Except for my own worry about what the results might be, this was an excellent experience. Do not be afraid to go there. Came to get a CT Scan done. My appointment was at 8am. After waiting 40 minutes I came to Front Desk and asked why I have never been called. They told me that they did not have a good explanation and asked me to wait another 10 minutes (minimum). I just left. So I did not get an xray done and was late to work. Very disappointed. They got to improve scheduling process and communication with coworkers and patients. read more

I think what you experience here depends on who you get as your nurse or attendant. 4 years ago I had to get a mammogram and I got this horrible nurse who caused me so much pain during a mammogram that I thought I would never get one again. The following year I got Letticia (TIsh) is what she goes by and let me tell you... the difference was night and day. Moved out of the area but recently had to get another mammogram done so I requested Tish and went through her again. There was a little discomfort but having a nurse like Tish who is very patient and caring makes it better. Besides, what is a few minutes of discomfort to verify that you're healthy? Needless to say, I don't know if I would go back if not for Tish but as long as she is there, I will get my exams there. I got my 3D Mammogram and should get the results in a week or a little longer. I was done from start to finish in about 35 minutes. Only reason I had to wait a couple of minutes longer is because I wanted Tish to attend to my session. Otherwise would have been quicker. Front receptionist was quite friendly and nice so perhaps they have changed personnel recently. read more

It's a very long story, but the sum of it is that I've been trying to get a pre-approval for an appointment for the past 3 weeks. With lots of back and forth with the insurance company, insurance co. and I've determined that they've been just not doing their end of the job (they claim insurance denied the pre-approval, when none was ever filed!) and seeking extra money by having the patient pay upfront. My review is specifically about their lack of protection of records. I needed reports for a doctor's appt tomorrow and all I had to do was call and ask and provide a fax number. Anyone who sounds like a woman, and knows my name and date of birth, could have gotten these records. That is not acceptable to me. I am disappointed. Having said that, I do appreciate the convenience... but the benefit does not outweigh the risks. read more
