Regardless if that happened that's on the parents of the child who was bitten and the owner of the dog to deal with. It shouldn't ban all dogs from the park. At least not service animals like my own. I guess the police/rescue squad get about 5-10 calls every spring-early fall to get some idiot that overestimated their free climbing prowess, got in a hairy spot, and (best case) froze and needed help back down. Worst case they fall, get injured and need to be carried out. Back in the day when I was still a young woman I did enjoy hiking in with some friends and finding a quiet spot near the falls to enjoy the natural vibes with the help of some good quality bud. , Haven't been up to the falls in years but I imagine not much has changed. Note/another reviewer questioned why the city doesn't keep it up better as it is a nice spot. I think the land is privately owned not city property.

It's even next to a bus stop -- the Vandenburg/Campbell Ave stop is about a two minute walk from the trailhead. Though this won't present much of of a challenge to someone looking for a serious hike, and the trails could be cleaner and better marked (at one point we ended up accidentally wandering off the path and into a litter-filled clearing), this is mostly just a delightful mini nature escape that more locals should definitely know about.

I dragged my son in with me and he wants to make a trip back to this park already. There are multiple softball grounds and has some historic significance which I have no clue. I can't call it a "large park" because the areas where you can do stuff (a playground, a seven-move fitness area) don't take up a lot of real estate. It is, perhaps, a perfect sized park. We came for the playground area and it was a lot of fun. There were many slides and steps for kids to climb on, but I can say it wasn't built for toddlers. School age kids would appreciate the reach and engage with the challenges more. There was some candy on the ground (and bees... boo) but we were able to avoid them. Swings and ladders provided lots of areas to play. It is built on wood chips, not that rubber stuff, if that matters to you. It looks like this area was an old school, as a very large round paved area could have been a running track at one time. Another large, rectangular area seems the right size for a basketball court area. Now, both are just flat pavement. The area is bounded by several hills which likely would be great for sledding. There were also several picnic tables for snacking on, and a water fountain which was sadly enclosed with a fence. Parking was plentiful. This seems like such a nice playground in seemingly the middle of nowhere. I hope more kids discover and enjoy it.

Just driving around, we could see lots of things falling apart (like the pool... enough said) or worn down. Their water splash area was large but only consisted of one pipe shooting water up. They had several large pavilions which families were using to celebrate, but I couldn't see many other areas to relax. The overlook spot was fun, though not very large. I think the clincher was the pot smokers who were very close to the slide where my son was playing. He doesn't need that. Those who love this place can keep it. With lots of other great parks in the capital district, I don't need to come back here.
