Veritas Prep

Veritas Prep

Veritas Prep On Demand (online self-paced) Review: I only…read morehad about 2 months before taking the GMAT for the first time and was looking for a quality course with the flexibility to study on my own schedule. I put in about 3 hours a day for 2 months, taking a break for Thanksgiving and the week leading up to my test. Before the course I took an official GMAC practice test and two days later took a Veritas practice test that ended up 60 points lower. During the course, I slowly improved and my 3rd and last practice test with Veritas matched my original GMAC practice test. Most students score within about 30 points of their highest score, and I felt that would be the case as I was taking the test. To my surprise, I actually improved another 60 points over my prior best score (+120 from my first Veritas practice test), landing me comfortably in the middle of Top 10 school scores. While I haven't taken another course to compare it to, including their classroom option, Veritas Prep On Demand was everything I was hoping for. In fact, I passed up another classroom course a friend was taking that was half the price because of what Veritas offers. It was flexible: I could take it at 5 a.m. or midnight, for 10 minutes or 6 hours. It was digital: I felt like it was as close to the actual test experience as possible. It was highly rated on Beat the GMAT and GMAT Club forums. I also loved the year of access just in case the score hadn't turned out as I hope. But it did! I hesitated at first because of the price being higher than almost any other program I looked at, but being on the other side now, it was worth it for me!

Unfortunately, our experience at Huntington was not a good one. After 20 hours of tutoring and…read more$1600 my son received exactly the same score on the ACT that he had recieved at the initial Huntington assessment. I met with the owner of the center and he told me that in order to see results I needed to commit to another $2000 in tutoring. He seemed to be only concerned about keeping the money coming rather than the success of my son. This is the first internet review I have ever written. I feel obligated to let others know that the significant amount of money they might consider spending at Huntington will be wasted.

My son has a scholarship offer to a university in the midwest for athletics. Due to the…read moreuniversities budget, in order to get a full ride, a portion of the scholarship was academic. My son had a 23 on the ACT. To receive the academic portion of the scholarship he had to get a 24. Huntington said that this would not be a problem. They did every thing but guarantee that they could get his score up a point if not four to six points. We paid the money and our son put in the work. The incentive was huge. The academic portion of the scholarship was close to 40k over four years. The big day came and his score was a disappointing 23. Huntington reached the day the scores were released to ask how he did. When we responded with the disappointing news, there was no response. We have not heard from them since. They got there money and ran. I would not recommend the center. The people were nice, helpful, but their learning is super expensive and not worth it. Don't fall for the sales pitch.

Beware of this organization. $3600 was a steep fee but we fell for the offer. Have come to learn…read morethat you don't necessarily need them and if you do want a service, there are many that are far more reasonable. But the worst is that they wouldn't listen to my daughters desire to attend a Christian College that would support her desire to be among a body of Christ Followers and seek to serve her God in whatever area that her gifts and talents might uncover. When they told her that her choices of colleges that we had visited were not a good choice for her because she didn't have the grades to get a lot of merit money and gave her a list of colleges, that after reviewing their websites, turned out not to be Christian Colleges, and their not paying attention to her priorities and desires. The husband that is a "hard sell" and turned off my husband from the beginning (I should have listened to his intuition) called and left a horrific voice message on my phone accusing my daughter of "not listening" and "going her own way". What a terrible way to talk to us. My daughter kindly wrote an email thanking Lana for her suggestions and tried to offer better insight into what she was looking for restating what we had already let them know was the criteria for college applications. My daughter (and I agreed) didn't want to work with them after they never apologized for the horrible voice message and we offered to pay them for what service they provided up till that time and to please reimburse us a fair portion of what we had prepaid when she was a sophmore. They spoke with us once and after finding out what we wanted refused to call us back (although promises were made) and wouldn't reply to any correspondence made by my husband or I. Don't be fooled, you can get merit money without their assistance and there are other companies that are way less expensive. And spread the word to beware of Lana and Bill Wally. They are nice when they are asking for your money but if you don't agree on something they won't hesitate to have all ethical practices fly out the door.

Terrible organization. I was admitted to second rate schools with a very high SAT score (2200+) and…read moreGPA (4.21) from a top-ranked high school. I was among the top 5% of my graduating class. They asked me to apply to schools much below my caliber, where I was clearly a candidate for colleges like Ivy leagues. Bill and Lana Wally have no professionalism. Bill Wally shouted at me over the phone because I was asking the essay-reader for too much feedback. The essay-reader furthermore does not help whatsoever--she is unable to provide help for churning out essay ideas, and just rearranges sentences, some even grammatically incorrect! My own mother, an English teacher, shook her head at the edits. Their conditions also change dramatically--they first guarantee that they'll help any siblings free of charge, and will help you with graduate admissions also free of charge. However, when the time came for my own sibling to apply, they denied help, saying they needed you to refer them to other customers. Terms and conditions are not steadfast in his organization. My younger sibling with similar SAT scores and GPA, was admitted to drastically better schools without any help! No help is better than Aid 101 with Bill and Lana Wally. I was admitted in engineering to UC Berkeley, and attended the school. This school is ranked higher than even MIT and Stanford in some engineering disciplines, suggesting that Aid 101 did NOT help in achieving results in the private school sector. Run away!
