Dr Larsen and his staff were amazing…read more I found them on Yelp since I was looking for a new Dentist. Suddenly one of my teeth became sensitive so I called and they got me in the next day. Normally when my teeth feel like this it involves a root canal and a crown and about $4,000. I was dreading that possibility. Dr Larsen knew what to do. Part of an old crown had broken away leaving my nerve exposed. He filled in the missing part with a white filling material. He was like a Master Painter as he worked to make it blend in. Tonight I'm back to chewing ice and drinking cold drinks. My Cost with insurance was a 10th of what I was expecting. What I know is Dr Larsen is a kind and experienced Dentist. He has seen it all. He was just what I needed so now I have a new Dentist I can trust again. You have no idea what a relief this is to me. Trust me when I tell you there are many Dentists in Salt Lake but not that many good ones. If you need a good Dentist go see them. Their office and staff are beautiful too.

The hygienist kept HOUNDING me about flossing for the entire appointment. Dude, I get it, leave me alone. Then the doctor kept making all these weird comments about my nose ring, talking about hanging floss from it and other weird stuff. Every sentence led back to my nose ring and it made me very uncomfortable. It's not a comfortable space for anyone that has any unique qualities that stray from the expected standard Utah appearance.

He does solid work, and I trust him. The hygienists are great too. People are friendly. When I was in recently a different hygienist that I haven't seen in probably a year called to me across the room to say hello and clearly remembered me. They have a good warranty on the work too. Prices are fair. I like that they can text as well. Last week I needed a last minute appointment on a tooth that has been unhappy. I was watching my two nephews (6 and 10) so I didn't think I could go in. The front desk was so kind and when I explained the boys were nice kids and could sit quietly on their iPads the ladies offered to watch them since I didn't have other options. I was so grateful!! This is a consistently wonderful dentist's office.

When you…read moremake your appointment make sure your give all insurance information including the info on the back of the card like PO Box address and phone number ( give this even if they tell you they don't need it). Both dentist I met were very professional so you can't go wrong. Summary for the business: correct the work flow when it comes to Verifying insurance. Even if you outsource, train front desk to take ALL insurance information like PObox address and phone number. When doing reminder calls have front desk make sure all is well with the insurance. Please give more training to front desk if there is issues regarding anything "day of appointment" have management/ owner know of the possible problem and be stand to help correct the issues, otherwise will lose potential business. Also increase shared screen plan for Netflix or switch to different streaming services like Disney+ or peacock so all your tv work at the same time. I gave this place a chance regardless of how the building appears outside looks. Inside looks much more like a dentist office. I made my appointment about 2 month in advance I remember specifically asking the gal that took my information if she would like my insurance card PO Box address so they can located the correct information to bill. I remember asking twice and her responding back no we just need name of insurance and Id# okay I went along with it. The week before my appointment (which is today 10/12/23) I get calls and text message each reminding me and asking if I'll still keep the appointment. I responded yes since I had to request time off from work for this appointment. THE DAY of my appointment another gal calls me up telling me unfortunately they couldn't find my insurance and they would have to bill me as cash pay.... Why this wasn't this told me before hand or when I got these reminder calls I don't know. I would have been happy enough to give in more details of my insurance but due to office work flow/ structure of having only one person knowing how to check insurance benefits not being there this would not have helped. Now I would have waste my PTO and would have probably had to wait another month or two to be seen for a simple cleaning. But this was correct by the business owner and dentist Dr. Orvin. He had personally called me back during the busy client day and call and checked my insurance himself during his lunch break. Dr. Orvin was the only reason I decide to give this place another chance and would be scheduling a follow up appointment.

I love…read morethe feeling of such clean teeth when leaving a teeth cleaning, but really don't like going to the dentist. I have been going here for over 10 years for my dental work and have never had problem. The staff has always been kind, helpful, and fun. Dr. Blackhurst is fun to talk to and explains what is going on with cavities, etc. so you understand what he is suggesting. The billing ladies have been great when there are problems with insurance, etc. Overall, I'm really happy here and think everyone should check him out.

I found this Dentist on the internet. While heading to my appt, I cried all the way there, can you believe it. Stepping into Dr Blackhurst's office. Shauna greeted us and thanked us for coming. What a sweet adorable young lady who explained how Dr Blackhurst works and his specialties, and Shauna added "no worries from this point on". His other staff walked me back to THE DENTISTS CHAIR. After I was made comfortable, in walks Dr Blackhurst. He shook my hand and then my husbands. Dr Blackhurst asked me minimal questions. Then the Dr asked if he could take a look. I froze. Dr Blackhurst quickly thawed me. This is when everything changed for me. No more Dental fright at all. Dr Blackhurst had me laughing an then HE TOOK OUT MY LOWER DENTURE and you know what, I didn't need a second thaw at all. And he threw way his thawer saying he never ,had a need to use them! The Dr continued his assessment which took very little time. I wanted to say thankyou to this adorable,very personable, caring and please may I add cute Dr Blackhurst, who had the most awesome chairside manner. There was one draw back and that was I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE! As I learned more about Dr Blackhurst, not only is the Dr a dentist, he is a specialist in many many fields. Takes alot of pride in his masterpieces. Come on you guys if I did it then take it from me. Now I want to know,,, WHAT'S TAKING YOU SO LONG? I sincerely make this promise to all of you, you will love Dr Blackhursts specialist'work, even if you won't want to leave! Holladay Dental Studio is a high-overhead dental office that compensates the cost incurred by their…read more"comfort menu", snacks, and free drinks by charging overpriced and overdramatized dental services, recommendations, and upcharges. My hygienist was very kind and accommodating. I waited 30 minutes before being seen which she apologized for and gave me a $5 gift card to Starbucks which is nice (but speaks to the high cost of operating this place). She seemed to listen and did a good job cleaning my teeth. 2 stars is for her. My dentist smelled of private equity and a complete disinterest in people he doesn't relate to. He recommended up-charged toothpaste, and up-charged filling material after explaining basic dental hygiene before asking about my existing habits. Then gave a treatment plan with high cost and high urgency. I received a second opinion from a lower-overhead dentist who had practical equipment and no comfort menu or drinks to speak of, but the same service was offered at a much more affordable price and much of what was itemized by Holladay was included in the overall cost from a well-regarded dentist in the area. My personal cost-incurred was around 1/4 of what Holladay quoted. He knew he could have come in at 7/8 of Holladay's cost and would have won my business but he charged for what I needed and committed to monitoring the rest as they were not of immediate importance. If you drive a Range Rover, require luxury in everything you do, and enjoy lighting money on fire, I'd recommend Holladay. If you drive a Toyota, require practical, affordable dental care from someone who takes pride in providing to the majority of the population without the frills, I'd look elsewhere.

I had three crowns placed at this office and have experienced ongoing problems since the procedure…read more Issues I experienced after the crowns were placed include: -Pain when chewing (especially nuts or gum on the left side) -Bite changes where my teeth now catch in ways they did not before treatment -Crowns contacting other teeth in a way that chipped a natural tooth and a previously placed crown due to the rubbing against the crowns placed by this office -Open spacing near the gumline between crowns where food consistently gets trapped -A crown shape and color that do not match my natural teeth, despite discussing this with the office beforehand -Food sticking to the chewing surfaces, which was not an issue before the crowns were placed I reported these concerns during follow-up visits and raised them again at my last appointment. However, the issues were not addressed, and I was told they would be handled if I returned to have an additional crown placed. After I left a one-star review, Dr. Allred asked that I contact the office as if my concerns had not already been clearly communicated in person. I have had routine checkups and cleanings at other dental offices following my treatments at Velux and was never told that the additional tooth they recommended for a crown required that level of treatment. In fact, I had never even been told that the tooth needed a filling. I have since been informed that one of the crowns may need to be replaced because it does not make proper contact with the adjacent tooth. Because of these issues, I have sought care elsewhere and will be replacing the crowns placed by this office. Since my dental insurance already paid for the crowns placed here, I will now have to pay out of pocket for the replacements. I would not recommend this dental office.
