This specific wasabi location is close to my heart. I love the way it is decorated, the ambience, and layout inside! Such a cozy, family feeling and like I stepped back into the 2000s. There is a fish tank!! And really cool seating. Service was attentive and fast and it seems like the workers all love being there. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and the salmon skin roll. The salmon skin roll at wasabi is the best I've ever had anywhere! It is out of this world good. I also tried my friends SC crunch roll which beat both of my rolls by a landslide. I never would have ordered that myself, but now I will! I recommend trying that roll.

Walked by on our way to a concert at the stadium there on Daniel Island. My wife and I decided to go in and were seated quickly at the sushi bar although we had not requested sushi seating. As we indeed do like sushi we joined in and both had sushi. I had the Daniel Island sushi ($15) shown on my photo. I wish I could describe all the great tastes in it but frankly it was one of the best sushis I have ever had. Of course it had the requisite green wasabi paste and ginger on the plate but I have burned myself with wasabi before at other places, so I used it very sparingly. The ginger was fresh and tasty. My wife was pleased with her Rock Shrimp Roll, which I did not sample. The server Quinna (her name was on the printed receipt) was appropriately attentive and checked back a few times, and quickly brought our check to us. A great visit and meal, quickly delivered. When I am back on Daniel Island I expect to go by and have another sushi meal, there, although they do serve a variety of other Oriental meals there!

Charleston has a lot of great sushi, this sushi is just okay. It's in an easy to get to location. The venue has live music some nights which is a great addition and they have plenty of outdoor seating. The service from one bartender in particular really brought down the vibe. It was clear she wasn't happy to be there and hey I don't love going to work some days either but it was all too obvious she was unhappy when I had to go on the search for my own soy sauce and chop sticks. I got the scam, and honestly I would compare it to $5 sushi Wednesday's at Publix, and I love $5 sushi Wednesday but it wasn't Wednesday and it was $12. The plate could have used more ginger and wasabi (I mean the place is called wasabi). It had a great crunch to the roll and I love a crunch in my roll, I also love spice and it had the perfect amount.

Plating perfection! The sushi artists are very creative and the rolls are excellent. They have an inexpensive happy hour, which I would highly recommend. Just a heads up that service can be slow during happy hour as the place can get quite jammed. They have a cute patio that I prefer to sit on during the cooler months in Charleston.

We came on a Friday where they had live music during happy hour. Their happy hour menu is quite extensive and good prices! Sushi was decent but not my favorite sushi place - i stuck with their cooked appetizers which were pretty small (as was their happy hour wine pour). It's a laid back place so we will come back but it's just not one of the top places for us. The patio is dog friendly so that is a big positive for us! Service was really good this time- she definitely deserved a great tip!

Nice weather to be on the patio.

Very good sushi restaurant on Daniel Island with a nice outside patio area. They have live music on weekends and a few covered outside seats due rain and umbrellas to help with the sun. Some of the happy hour bites felt a bit pre fabricated, but the other items were very fresh and good. Mix of traditional Japanese beers to go with the sushi and a basic wine selection in addition to sake. They also had a rolling ipa available, which I had for dessert after finishing the sushi.

Love the happy hour and patio here. Tuna tataki is my must order. It's such a balance of flavor and texture. $4 avocado rolls are a great value and taste. Dumplings are tasty but average (and likely from frozen). On regular menu I enjoy the salmon hibachi, specialty rolls, and Pad Thai. Half priced wine on Wednesday and Saturday helps with the budget too. Atmosphere is upscale casual inside with horseshoe bar and modern dining room with huge fish tank.

It's a solid restaurant...it just needs some updating . The interior looks dated and the lighting is way too bright during dinner hours . I love that they offer low carb sushi roll options like the sexy roll : Salmon, avocado, and asparagus with ponzu sauce wrapped in cucumber . It's delicious! I will definitely come here again to further explore their menu !

Good sushi, not fantastic, not bad- nothing special really. A little heavy on the rice and skimpy in the center but overall still tasted good. We ordered carry out so not too much to say about the atmosphere or service but ordering online was easy! I will say I don't think the price is worth the amount of food when it comes to their sushi. $15 for a roll that didn't leave me full is kind of unfulfilling when I know I could get a massive poke bowl or burrito bowl for about $10 and be plenty full with leftovers. My red dragon roll had the tiniest piece of tempura inside and a ton of cucumber :( Overall, not bad but not great. Still on the hunt for good sushi in Charleston!

We had concert tickets at the Volvo Center, and as it happened our friends did too, so we decided to hook up for a pre-concert dinner and cocktails - and they chose this place. My husband looked at the menu and was pretty excited about a few things on the menu. We were seated right away, but the place was bustling, and handed a small menu. Little did we know there was a pri fix menu on concert nights. Makes sense, but hubby was bummed about his choices not being available. I was impressed with the hibachi and the variety of veggies offered. The salad was delicious. Two things to know if you go on an event night...no cocktails - just beer and wine and no dessert - not even a tiny scoop of ice cream....

We sat at the sushi bar, which I highly recommend, and from the moment we sat down it was clear we were in good hands. We were surprised right away with a complimentary amuse‑bouche--crab stick rolled with salmon--which was a thoughtful and delicious touch. To start, I ordered the seaweed salad while Justin went with the ginger salad; both were fresh, balanced, and a perfect lead‑in to the sushi. For the main event, I ordered a spicy tuna roll and eel nigiri, and this is where Zen really shined. The spicy tuna roll was exactly what sushi lovers hope for--very light on rice and heavy on fish, something that's surprisingly hard to find around Charleston. The eel nigiri was rich, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. Justin ordered several pieces of sashimi and was equally impressed. We asked about albacore tuna (unfortunately unavailable), but were told the salmon was excellent--and moments later, we were unexpectedly served two additional pieces of sushi each. Completely unexpected and incredibly appreciated, especially for a birthday celebration. Between the quality of the fish, attention to detail, and warm hospitality, Zen Asian Fusion absolutely won us over. We've officially found our new sushi spot and can't wait to come back.

I would give this place 5 stars, but I'm giving it 4 because the bartender was not attentive.

To start we ordered the trio: guac, queso, and salsa + chips and the quesadilla. The Trio was good, about what you'd expect for chips and salsa at most places. The quesadilla was quite good as well. I ordered the Lobster roll (forgot complete name) and the Tsunami roll. Both of my rolls were incredible. They were very nice, 10/10 rolls. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were on point. All of my friends also enjoyed the rolls they ordered. I also ordered the fish collar tacos, which is easily the best bang for your buck on the menu. The plate only costs $14 and it comes with 2 fat fish collars, not sure what species, forgot to ask, if I had to guess I would say grouper or cobia. These collars are beautiful fried and loaded with meat. Additionally the plate comes with some lettuce, cilantro, lime, pineapple pico, sauce, and 3 flour tortillas. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty to separate the meat from bone, you will get three very very filled fish tacos and have meat to spare. Needless to say, the fish collar tacos were delicious and very well priced. The girl was very helpful and giving us a separate gluten-free menu that allowed us to order for my husband. This place is a Latin/Asian infusion so we were very excited to see how the flavors played out since it is two of our favorite types of food. The best thing I had was the special, stir fried udon noodles with the steak. The noodles were perfectly cooked, the chili spice on it was amazing and it wasn't overly sauced. The steak that accompanied it was also delicious. The tomato cucumber salad was fresh, but could've used a little more salt in my opinion. The bao bun and tacos were also nice and great portions. I would say for me I didn't love the pad Thai in comparison to the many that I've had before, because it was a bit different in flavor profiles than what I'm used to. I wanted a little bit more of the fish sauce and tamarin flavor. You have to get their milkshakes, I'm sure all of them are great. But the one we have was absolutely decadent and delicious! We had more than enough food, and ended up taking a lot of it home. They were multiple people helping us, and they were all very nice and friendly. I'm coming back for the udon noodle dish!
