When I confirmed my medication, the conversation immediately shifted to blaming it for various issues, including dry mouth and suggesting I had moderate periodontitis--something that had never been raised in my previous visits. I also did not receive the standard six-month cleaning that my insurance covers. Instead, the focus quickly shifted to recommending an expensive "deep cleaning" involving lasers, along with a specialized bacteria test totaling over $2,000 even with insurance. The way this was presented felt more like a sales pitch than a genuine medical recommendation, relying heavily on fear-based language. During the gum exam, I experienced significant discomfort and bleeding, and the way it was performed felt unusually aggressive compared to my prior visits. This added to my concern that the severity of my condition may have been overstated. Additionally, I was told I had an "orthopedic injury" based on my X-rays related to past orthodontic work (braces from when I was a teenager). When I explained $1,200 was not in my budget, they quickly reduced the cost to $400 by taking out some treatment they recommended. It felt very "salesy" and did not feel trustworthy. When I declined to spend the extra $400, they refused to even clean my teeth today. I have zero cavities and my bacterial screening was normal. Because I would not pay more for services not covered by my insurance, they denied the basic services they should have provided. Nothing about my exam today was different than any exam I've had in 46 years except perhaps that my teeth were cavity free and only needed cleaning. This was an awful experience and I will never return. They responded asking me to call-I spoke to the office manager before I left and she was not willing to help me. I told the dentist I was not happy that they refused me the care I needed. I stated I would review on google-she said that was my choice. Do not be fooled. They do not wish to resolve patient issues.
