The farm shop leads you to the restaurant and is stacked with local produce - meat, fish, confectionery and fresh fruit and vegetables brought in every morning, to name but a few. Not too pricey either, which is a refreshing change from most farm shops. The restaurant itself is mostly situated in a light and spacious conservatory area. Popular all day with familes, couples and retired couples, the Trevathan is a popular restaurant. They serve the biggest cakes I have ever seen, some triple or even quadrupled layered - coffee and chocolate cake amongst others. A good selection of breakfasts, snacks and lunches too. The cooked breakfast was both tasty and filling. Theres outside seating too, but unfortunately on every day we visited it was bucketing down with rain! Trevathan is also a place where you can pick your own strawberries, gooseberries and raspberries. There's even some motorised tractors and a digger for the children. A great place for families.

The farm shop sells their own free range eggs, vegetables grown on the farm, jams and marmalades made in the shop, 'ready meals' made in the restaurant as well as the more usual produce that is more widely available in farm shops across Devon. There is a great little comfy area for children with a sofa and toys - perfect for letting them play while the mummy's enjoy a well deserved cuppa and a chat! The rooms in the barn are all en suite. The beds are very comfortable, and the whole place is so quiet that you can hear the cows grazing. Room cleanliness was perfect. There was also a great variety of tourist information in the rooms about the local (Crackington Haven/Bude) area and the overall region (Cornwall). There are numerous walking trails here that lead to a cliff-side walk around the peninsula looking over the Celtic Sea, and you can be there from your room with less than a 30-minute walk. The breakfast here was well executed and delicious (typical English breakfast - eggs, sausage, bacon, tomato, and mushrooms), and they had some of the best bread (locally baked) and butter that I've ever had in my life. If you are looking for a B&B in north Cornwall, I recommend Lower Tresmorn Farm without hesitation!

I have tried many Organic outlets in my time as a carnivore, and this one has to be at the top of my list. They sell lamb, poultry, beef, venison (wild), pork in a variety of cuts, barby produce with marinades, just go on line and check these guys out. You order it, it is delivered within the given time-frame, I have never experienced any problems, and the meat is always tender, succulent, and cooks to perfection. This farm has recently added stock to their pig herd at a time when other farmers are downgrading their stock, and the time and energy they have devoted to creating this project is immeasurable. I prefer to buy my meat this way, it doesn't work out any cheaper, just better quality and you know where it has come from! Give it a try, and tell them about QYPE and me, one of their customers.

Too difficult and costly? You know they did this before WWII... with less resources and technology than you have at your disposal, right? Really, just watch the TV show on the gardens because now instead of trying to restore it to its past glory, the management grow flowers to sell. If they took all the flowers in their gift shop and planted them in their gardens then maybe they'd be a step closer to restoring anything. But they've had this land for many many years now and they only do the bare minimum to get ppl there. Great history and potential but the management needs to step up! If you're a gardener, you'll be sorely disappointed.
