FORMER STUDENT This…read moreplace is far more about money than martial arts. Advancement here has very little to do with skill, effort, or actual improvement. If you want to "grow," you have to pay -- for every single belt, test, and step forward. Progress feels locked behind a paywall. The owner shows little genuine interest in developing students' abilities. Instead of coaching, mentoring, or correcting technique in a meaningful way, the focus is constantly on the next fee, upgrade, or payment. It becomes clear very quickly that your value as a student is tied to how much you're willing to spend. Martial arts are supposed to teach discipline, humility, and growth. What I experienced here felt transactional, manipulative, and discouraging. Students who question the system or costs are brushed aside, while those who keep paying move forward regardless of actual skill. If you're looking for a school that truly invests in its students and prioritizes ability over profit, I would look elsewhere. This academy feels like a business first and a martial arts school second -- if at all.

Coaches are the type to invite you into their own homes and treat you like their own family. Paired with a competitive environment forging grit, hardwork, teamwork, skill, and a passion for martial arts. Coaches and senior students are aware and confident enough in their ability to ensure a safe place, they also are aware in the students' abilities as well and keep a watchful eye. Firm enough to ensure your development and success in learning how to defend yourself. 10/10 would highly recommend

I was going to be traveling a lot over the summer and so a monthly membership didn't feel like the right fit, but the cost per class for the punch pass didn't feel worth it to me. So I decided against joining even though it was a good workout. Fast forward to January 2023, I received an email inviting me back to try the workout out again. I signed up for another class and had a phone conversation with one of the employees (Kelly?) discussing the various options. During this call, prices were not discussed. I came into the class and the prices were shown and explained, along with the packages. They require you to buy their HR monitor and gloves, which I wasn't super interested in because I already own three HR monitors and can see my HR in real time on my Apple Watch. The pricing did not feel competitive to me - I believe the package I had been planning on was now $19/class for ~30 minute classes. I believe I can get a much better value for my money elsewhere. Kelly was very pushy that I select the package I wanted before the workout and when I told her I had to think about whether it would fit into my budget she seemed very unhappy and guilted me about this being my second free workout. I probably should have just walked out then but I had already given up half my lunch break driving there and having the conversation so I did the workout and left with no plans to return. Again, I like the workout (it's a great amount of cardio packed into 30 minutes and I'm definitely sore after) but I do not like the sales tactics and the guise of being invited back to try the workout again only to be bombarded and guilted upon not being ready to sign a contract that day. I just wouldn't expect that sort of treatment from a locally owned business.

They're each only 30 minutes long, but you get a full body workout and won't be able to finish without breaking a sweat! The program is HIIT style with lots of cardio and core work, and you need only minimal equipment (hand wraps and gloves, which you can get when you join). Since the initial pandemic closures, they've been able to safely reopen with new protocols in place, but they also now offer a vast library of virtual workouts that you can complete remotely on your own time as well as live Zoom workouts with the trainers a few times a week. I've been taking advantage of these options and working out from the comfort of my own home or even while traveling. I miss the trainers and their encouragement and assistance, but I appreciate everything the club has done to help members stay connected and enthusiastic about their fitness!
