This is a pasty staple according to my Cornish pasty expert friend. It's an award winning bakery that's been in business for 150 years. I'm kind of obsessed with having the best of the local food in a new city, so it seemed like a no brainer!
I was a tad disappointed it was so ... plain though. It's been around a looooong time, so it's a no frills joint with small, medium and large pasties. Steak and cheese and onion of course and not much else besides that.
I got a medium steak and it was piping freaking hot and plenty of food to fill me up. I carried it around the corner to the beach and ate it overlooking the beautiful blue sea that is the Cornish Coast.
On further exploration of the town center, I kicked myself for not walking around for diving into the first pasty/pasty shop I saw. There were a couple that looked a little more modern that I think I might have preferred (I am so, so spoiled by having the visited the amazing Cornish Pasty Company in Phoenix so much, I admit that!). But didn't have it in me to eat two pasties in two days.
You can't go wrong here if tradition is what you're after, but if you like a modern take on comfort foods, you might want to try another one (there are plenty all around this area!) read more
