I had a medium traditional pasty - perhaps it was the hype, or the overeager anticipation, but I was slightly disappointed. It tasted like a regular pasty! Nothing particularly wrong with it - it was a good size, reasonable price and tasted good. It's worth a visit if you're hungry and need a pasty to fill the void!

I'm kind of obsessed with having the best of the local food in a new city, so it seemed like a no brainer! I was a tad disappointed it was so ... plain though. It's been around a looooong time, so it's a no frills joint with small, medium and large pasties. Steak and cheese and onion of course and not much else besides that. I got a medium steak and it was piping freaking hot and plenty of food to fill me up. I carried it around the corner to the beach and ate it overlooking the beautiful blue sea that is the Cornish Coast. On further exploration of the town center, I kicked myself for not walking around for diving into the first pasty/pasty shop I saw. There were a couple that looked a little more modern that I think I might have preferred (I am so, so spoiled by having the visited the amazing Cornish Pasty Company in Phoenix so much, I admit that!). But didn't have it in me to eat two pasties in two days. You can't go wrong here if tradition is what you're after, but if you like a modern take on comfort foods, you might want to try another one (there are plenty all around this area!)

Personally, I think its clever glazes and a liberal sprinkling of icing sugar that does it. The coffee is also average and I would recommend the Costa 6 doors down as a better alternative if you want to spend this sort of money on a coffee and cake. Premium prices for average products; this one is to be avoided.

This bakery stocks only a mediocre range of cakes and I find the flavour lacking somewhat. The…read morebread range is better, especially the seeded granary rolls, although these do go stale very quickly. The pasties are also quite poor although ok if you need a quick filler and aren't looking for anything special. The best thing they sell is the rolls/sandwiches which they make up to order whilst you are there. These are about the only thing worth the money in this small establishment, and make a decent lunch once you've grabbed a rink from the fridge and a bag of crisps. The service is friendly, the prices reasonable and the wait minimal but they must improve stock if this bakery is to do a better trade.
