With memories of elementary school and screaming bloody murder as four baby teeth were extracted--despite laughing gas & local, rather painfully-- I pleasantly floated in the reclined chair with the faint taste of cherry while Dr. Patel and an assistance removed 2 twelve-year molars. That is assuredly a good experience. Maybe it is also because I hated those molars and was so glad to have them gone. But the professional people, confident doctor, and awesome laughing gas could not have hurt.

The initial consultation was very thorough and I was able to meet what would become my care team. Seeing the CT scan, we all felt it best to pull the remaining teeth, deal with any infections, get bone graphs, and full upper and lower implants. I felt absolutely no pressure to go with any specific option (3 were available). At that same visit, I arranged financing, chose my teeth color and scheduled surgery for three weeks out. Due to increasing pain levels I requested that surgery be moved up a week and they were able to accommodate me. Day of surgery I was very nervous and they took the time to ensure I was ok before starting. Went out like a light from the anesthesia and woke up pleasantly numb. I was taken to a recovery room where I promptly fell asleep once again. Before I knew it, I was woken up to have my healer implants put in (yes, I walked out with a full set of teeth). Post surgery, day one the swelling started, and then the bruising but I had no pain other than the cuts at the corners of my mouth. I am now 8 days post surgery. No more swelling, just a small bruise on my chin and I can smile again. The implants did take getting used to as my bite is now corrected, but even that is a minor inconvenience. Then the nurses and surgeon comes in, daughter flat on her back in the chair, and they all commune AROUND her while aggressively selling me that its SUCH a traumatic experience and I should WANT for my kid to have a peaceful exerience and why not just spend the money - IN FRONT OF HER'; Both finance and parent shaming of the highest accord! My daughter starts to get upset and I request that the conversation continue in the hall. I WAS STILL TOLD it was our choice and I said "We are either going to move forward with her surgery or we are going to leave." The surgeon pulled back and said, "Okay but if she suffers discomfort, I am stopping the surgery." I immediately texted my wife and told her, "Expect that this is not going to happen today because we are being set up for failure, here..." I hate being right. Sure enough, in mere minutes, the nurse was back out saying, "Yeah she was uncomfortable so we stopped. Reschedule and do so when you can AFFORD the optional anesthesia." I was left gobsmacked. Now, my daughter is in tears, ande I am doing everything in my power to maintain my composure and leave like a gentleman. On the way out, their secretary says snarkily, "It looks like there was a leftover co-pay from a procedure YOU had here, 15 years ago...do you wanna settle that up?" That was it - I told them that the whole morning was a clinic in dealing with tone-deaf, insensitive, bait-and-switchers and we would be finishing the procedure with another surgeon. They love their third party commissions, over there. More than they value human relationships. People are just wallets walking into their office in a high-tax bracket community to them, and it shows. ...I bet if I handed an Amex Black card to the them and let them con me into add-ons, they would have shown a different EQ. SAD.
