My first attempt at securing a magnet brought me here. With this place, it is more of home decor items than it is souvenir items. I mean, the home decor items can be souvenirs, but when you are just looking for the knickknack type of things, this may not be your stop. The items inside were beautiful. Well displayed, stock was maybe a bit overwhelming, it is well lit. If you have the time, you can definitely lose track of it in here. Although I did not find what I was looking for, I did enjoy browsing and the staff were pleasant and polite. Just be careful if you feel claustrophobic, it can be a tight squeeze in here if you don't like close spaces.

I went to My Ceramics to have a pleasant experience and express myself in a stress-free environment. Unfortunately, I had one of the most racist encounters I have ever experienced. I was told that there would be an $8 sit-down fee that would cover any return visits until finished. When I came back to complete my project, a different woman rudely called me out in front of everyone and said that the fee needed to be paid again and for every future visit. I explained that I was told otherwise initially, that my first $8 allowed me to come back and finish without another fee, but she interrupted me and said that was not true, loudly and disrespectfully. She was implying that I was stupid and pointed to a sign that just said sit-down fees were $8. She also said I was using too much paint and glitter which was wasting their money, which is not something you say to a paying customer who you want to come back. I remember I jokingly said to another caucasian employee that I wanted to "glitterfy my dolphin" and obviously I know that the word glitterfy isn't in the dictionary, but she condescendingly told me that I reminded her of her young students that do not know the difference between words that are and aren't in the dictionary. I also remember when I went up to get more paint she would throw many rude remarks and one time I asked politely "Do you mind if I can have some glitter" and she said "yes I mind, do not take the whole bottle my other customers need it" when I never implied to take the whole bottle. I also remember having to wait outside for a long time because when I tried to go in, I was turned away because they were at full capacity. Which I completely understand because of Covid but she let her friends go in while I was waiting for three hours, which I did not think was fair at all. I also asked the other caucasian customers the employees spoke to them like that and if they had to pay a fee for each visit after and everyone told me that they were not spoken to like that. So I was singled out because of my skin color. If you are a minority, I would not suggest going to this business if you want to have a stress-free and non-discriminatory experience.

After taking a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Africa we were thrilled with our purchase of an…read moreincredibly beautiful (and very heavy) Shona stone sculpture of an elephant with her calf. Unfortunately, upon returning to the US we opened our find to discover it had been broken in many places; two legs broken off, an ear snapped off, much of the stone had crumbled, etc, etc, and we thought it was ruined. This was despite careful wrapping and packing by us but, undoubtedly, careless treatment by the airlines. After several Google searches we kept coming back to Lakeside Pottery, not only because they were the most responsive but because they seemed lovely people, totally genuine, and enthusiastic and caring of our 'predicament', attributes sorely lacking from every NYC studio who were often abrasive, and didn't seem interested. I took us a few months to get our ducks in a row but we eventually snapped pics of our statue, it was given an estimate for repair and a timetable of the repair schedule. We shipped off our beloved statue in a double box, pampered though it were priceless. We opted for the total restoration, since it really wasn't much more than the next level down. Mort asked us several times why we would consider spending several times its initial cost to repair the piece, so we knew he genuinely cared and wasn't in this for the money. It was our love for the piece that convinced him we were serious about our desire to have it restored as fully as possible. Long story short, when the elephant statue was finished (way ahead of schedule) we were sent photos of its repair and we couldn't believe what we were seeing. The, when we received the statue in the 'mail', my wife literally cried tears of happiness when she saw the statue, which was repaired so perfectly, so flawlessly, and obviously with such love and care, we still to this day look upon the statue and are baffled by how they did it. My advice: these guys are geniuses at what they do. Masters of their craft, totally unsurpassed in their field, I imagine. I could not recommend them highly enough. They made us so happy, and one day we hope to drive to their studio to thank them in person. Thank you a million times for restoring our statue and giving it a whole new life!

Let me start this off by saying I would love to support small businesses any chance I get- but some…read morebusiness just aren't worth supporting. Quite literally any surf shop between bethany and rehobeth beach is better than this one. I went in to buy a tshirt and two stickers. Was offered a bag, said yes please, and went about my day. Keep in mind the bag is blue. About 2 blocks down the road (10 min tops) I notice i'm suddenly COVERED in blue dye- on myself, my clothing, and may I add a BRAND NEW $40 tshirt bought yesterday from Quiet Storm in Rehoboth (pictures attached below). I calmy way my way back to the store. The cashier was so helpful, very apologetic, and offered to call her manager. The manager stated their "refund policy" which says no refunds are accepted and they only give store credit. I explained my newly bought shirt from them INSIDE the bag was safe from the blue dye so i did not need that shirt returned. However I did want a refund due to compensation of blue dye ALL OVER myself and brand new clothing. The manager refused and offered to call the owner. We waited in the store for about 15-20 minutes for the manager to relay the same message from the owner. They offered no refund, no compensation, only offered to give another one of their shirts. Not sure about you, but after a business just ruins a BRAND new shirt due to cheap bags- i'm simply not interested in supporting them by wearing another shirt with their name on it. The refusal to give me a refund due to their greediness & lack of accountability is quite literally mind-blowing. I've never seen a small business ESPECIALLY in Dewey Beach be so money hungry they forget to have a single ounce of consideration. This screams cheap, and we don't have money to do half of what's right. The quality of merch displays this perfectly. I would avoid this place at all costs, the only good thing about this place was the kindness of the cashier though dealing with HORRENDOUS management. I would highly recommend checking out surf shops in Bethany Beach or Quiet Storm in Rehobeth. All will be a million times better than this place & you won't leave being a canvas to a cheap bag. Awful establishment. EDIT: I did demand a refund bc your cheap bags ruined my shirt. I offered to give back the one I just purchased in exchange for my money back. Trust me i'd much rather have the shirt I was wearing CLEAN and UNDAMAGED than 2 of your shirts. If your store policy stated you had cheap bags that would stain me and my clothes I wouldn't have purchased from here in the first place. It was not raining when I left and unfortunately not my fault bags can't be stored properly.
