There was hair inside the refrigerator, dirty pillowcases, dirty linens, mold on the shower curtain, spiders, dead insects on the ceiling, and yellow and brown stains on the towels and bedding. It was obvious the room had not been properly cleaned. The owner was even worse than the room. She was rude, hostile, and completely unprofessional. She monitored guests on the security cameras and treated Black guests, especially families with children, with disrespect. Some staff members were polite, but the owner's behavior ruined the entire experience. I would never stay here again and would strongly recommend others avoid this hotel.

I'm using plurals because my group had two rooms not just one room. The staff and hospitality were exceptional at the Navasota Café downstairs where we had our complementary breakfast is always a nice experience. So to answer the question, would you stay here again? This little inn is perched at the top of a hill just far enough away from town to feel like you are way out in the country, but close enough that you could drive down the road for a midnight taco if you're feeling peckish. The house itself smells of lavender and whatever gourmet delight the owner has cooked up today. It is warmly decorated without being garishly "country," and the room we stayed in (Sage) was very comfortable with it's high ceilings and friendly colors. The shower in our room was spacious, although the shower head was mounted quite low (if I had to pick at nits, this would be my only complaint). The bed was wide and soft (I should caution you about the risk of slipping into a mid-afternoon coma if you lay on it after a big meal). We signed up for the cooking class with Pamela Murski and it was an absolute delight. She is so friendly and fun to be with. The instruction was very low-pressure, as she walked us through the preparation of a 5 course meal, supplying great advice on technique and plenty of interesting stories about the food, the (very fresh!) ingredients, and her experiences. The food was amazing, and for this one day, it was easy to forget about the cares of the big bad world out there and focus on good food and the people you are with. I think that is exactly why we came - and I wish we didn't have to leave.

Pamela is an excellent hostess and she makes sure that you have everything you need. We found this B&B when we were looking for an elopement package. We are having a big wedding next year but wanted to do something just for the two us before then. Pamela ensured everything was taken care of for the ceremony and that our day was special. We didn't have to worry about anything, we got married by the gazebo, drank wine on the porch and ate an outstanding meal prepared by Pamela. Dinner consisted of homemade soup, Sheppard's pie made with lamb, venison and ground pork with twice roasted mashed potatoes on top and for desert we had an apple pie sort of dish with Blue Bell ice cream on top. To die for!! We wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy all the features of the B&B but unfortunately we had to go back to Houston. We will definitely be back for a weekend of R&R soon!!

The location is perfect for walking around town and enjoying the small town feel. The building has a wonderful mix of the old architecture with new modern design and beautiful art. The rooms are clean, comfortable and I can't stop thinking about how soft the sheets were! Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order omelettes by owner Keith. We had such a great time talking with owners Suzy and Keith and learning more about the area. Can't wait to go back!

There's also plenty of parking for guests. We had our meal catered in and our host at the Main Street house helped with every detail. Everything was decorated, the dishes and flatware were provided, and they served us like royalty! The host cleared tables, served us dessert, cleaned our caterers pans, and even helped us load/unload vehicles. Also arranged fun games for our group (Pictionary and a trivia game)! It seems I can never stay away from the Katy House Bed & Breakfast. I feel like it's my second…read morehome. My husband and I went there for our anniversary. We were there from August 29th - September 4th. We stayed in the Conductor's Cottage again. Everything went perfectly. The cottage was very clean. In fact, I have a very bad dust allergy, but my allergy symptoms never occurred while staying here which is saying something! The water pressure was great, and I loved that there's always extra toilet paper available in the cottage in case we need some. I love that the cottage has plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery since my husband and I didn't go out to eat except once while we were there. We didn't need to go out since Tiffany makes a big and delicious breakfast every morning. Seriously, the woman should be a chef as well. She's so good with breakfast, and it's always the best breakfast I've had. Tiffany also did a fantastic job at making me a breakfast that I could have with my many dietary needs. With breakfast, it's like a family style thing where you all sit at one table to eat. There is the option of having breakfast delivered to your room if you'd rather not eat with others. Tiffany (the owner) is super nice, and she always would ask us if we needed anything for our room every morning. She makes you feel so welcome and like part of the family. This girl would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. Seriously, Tiffany is such a great human. The bed was super comfy and the AC gets pretty cold. It's a mini split, but it definitely got the room cold quickly despite the Texas heat. In fact, I even had to turn up the AC to 80 many times because I would get so cold! There are trains that go by many times throughout the day and night as the railroad tracks are near the Katy House. However, there are earplugs in the room if you don't like the noise. I find it soothing though. It's very close to a bar (Huebel's), but the bar stays very quiet even on a weekend, so no worries about bar noise or even the noise from people coming out of the bar. The B&B is a block away from Main Street so there are a few restaurants and shops within a very short walking distance. Speaking of walking, my husband and I would walk/run about five miles every night we were there. All the streets we ran/walked seemed safe. We never encountered anything bad. Tiffany even gave us some pointers about where to walk to to get out in nature away from the hustle and bustle of the town. (Although the locals are very nice.) Minnie (a member of staff) was also really nice when we would see her. She would always smile and say hello. She's also a sweetheart. While we were there, we got to see a couple of squirrels close up. The squirrels love jumping from tree to tree around the area. Parking is plentiful. It's all street parking around the property, but it's all very safe to park around the building. The tv is a smart tv, so there were plenty of streaming options and services to sign in to. However, if you don't do streaming services, there was still channels available you could watch without signing into anything. Be sure to stay at the Katy House if you've ever wanted to experience Heaven on Earth. I'm convinced Tiffany is an angel here on Earth! Pretty sure that when you stay at the Katy House, you actually get transported to Heaven. Definitely stay here, and you'll see what I mean. You'll want to keep coming back!

The room was very elegant and the amenities and personal touches were very thoughtful. I am a candy lover and I am sorry to say, I almost emptied of their candy trays. The breakfast was very good and prepared by the owners husband who is a chef by trade. We travel a lot and I can honestly say Katy House is one of the best B&Bs we have stayed. If you have a chance, check out th Hueble Biergarten, which is right across the street. It's a local bar with friendly patrons.

There is not a more comfortable place nor more congenial hosts as those found at A Wild Rose Cottage. The property is beautiful, the home is comfortable and the breakfasts are scrumptious. There could not be a more Texan couple than Pattie and Steed. With luck, Steed will regale you with some of his stories about his time as a cowboy, a rancher and as a movie star in many recognizable films. Pattie is the epitome of a gracious hostess. Pattie, I want your recipe for the french toast syrup and strawberry preserves! Our family always enjoys spending time with them. The house is an old remodeled farmhouse, complete with a beautiful and comfortable claw foot bathtub. There is plenty of room for our extended family of eight. There is a small goldfish pond, swing and gorgeous oak trees everywhere. I only wish my home had such a beautiful front porch as there is at A Wild Rose Cottage. There is a beautiful stock tank on the property. I will forever have the memory of teaching my grandsons how to skip rocks on this tank. There are accommodations for a reunion, wedding or almost any event imaginable in "The Barn". Don't forget to check out the modern outhouse! We always feel safe, secure and welcome here.
